Shimano Cumara Vs. Kistler Helium LTA Vs. St. Croix Avid
This is a follow up thread from a previous question I had on spinning rods. Out of these three what do you guys think? Right now I am leaning towards the Avid, but I could save $30 with the Kistler Thanks, VC

Drop Shot Line?
Do you use a uni knot to tie them together? Or use a double sided swivel?

Drop Shot Line?
What type of line do you prefer and what test? Thanks, VC

Jig Fishing
As far as color like other baits it depends on the weather and the water clarity. When it is sunny out and the water is clear go with a natural brown or green. My favorite is green pumpkin with an Alabama craw color paca chunk. When it is overcast or murky waters I like to either go with a brown with bright orange in it as well as black and blue or just all black. The action all depends on the water temp. When it is colder finesse is what its all about. Soak that bait and let it sit and gently hop and drag it off the bottom. When the temp is a little warmer and the fish are active give that bait a little more life. Hope this helps. I'm sure the article had everything I mentioned. BTW the pro model jig is a good one

I love my Fenwick HMG for crainkbaits, but I have used other Powell rods and LOVE them so I would go with the Powell

Today was not a good day....where do I go from here?
x2 this past weekend i had the same thing happen to me. i was throwing a jig in 6ft of water with 40lb braid. i hooked into a fish and i felt it shake its head and throw my jig. confused... i reeled in and found my skirt gone. so i smiled... thought that maybe i had a dull hook, tied on a new jig... and went back to fishing. the next bite i got it was expecting it... felt it pick up, watched it swim a second and the set the hook so hard i came off the deck a few inches. i barely moved this fish!!! then... slack. it threw the hook too. sometimes man.... its just not your day. I'm glad someone else is feeling my pain! Not really but it makes me look at the weekend a little differently. Thanks, VC

This Morning....
Up here in Musky country I know from experience that no matter what lb braid you have you need to have some type of liter on. My muskie setup has 50 lb power pro with a steel liter. So don't feel about just prepare next time and get him again!

Backpain, That very well could be it. I have noticed that sometimes I tend to set the hook on my side instead of over the top which could be a very good reason for losing the fish. This most likely led to me getting more and more frustrated

haha I actually gave them the same hooks as me bc they didnt have any. the only thing I have changed would be my line which is now yo-zuri hybrid ultra soft.

Today was not a good day....where do I go from here?
This might end up being the problem but I would say i set the hook at about 8 or 9 o'clock. I lay into them with pretty everything i got. Bring it up even farther? You guys really think that wold make a huge difference? Thanks, VC
