  1. I have started to get more confidence in crainkbaits especially deep diving. The one thing i am struggling with now that i am building on my collection is what colors to purchase and what ones to pass on. I have recently purchased DT 14's (chartreuse/brown back, lime shad), and Norman deep little N's (chartreuse/purple, and splattered trout (seen below)). I purchased these colors because i have learned that anything 10+ ft you should be using brighter colors. I guess my first question is how many varieties of these brighter colors do i REALLY need? Does a subtle difference in a crainkbait prevent a fish from biting? Another question i have is when, if any time, should i go away from the brighter colors in deeper water? And what colors do you recommend? I guess this is an open discussion the few questions i posed are just a few i have yet to conquer.....or maybe im just over thinking things. Anyway thanks, VC
  2. Ha! yea you got that right! I went to a local outdoor store yesterday and got some floating markers and looked at some new depth finders to put on my console so that I can really buckle down and learn how to deep water fish. Very jealous dude! I have been saving for a boat for 3 years and about to get my own i cant wait to try things i could never do with my pontoon! BTW thats a beautiful, healthy bass you got in your avatar
  3. I went out around 9 am and the fishing was unbelievable. I caught about 15 bass in a 3 hour period including a hog (seen below), but that wasn't what surprised me, in fact it wasn't a bass at all. I was fishing a curly tail in about 15 ft. of water around heavy vegetation. I got caught up a few times so this time i didn't think much of it until a 45+ muskie jumps five feet in the air!! Unfortunately it snapped me line of course, but it was an awesome thing to see. I get a lot of accidental muskie hits here in MN but never on a plastic worm.
  4. I was wondering what your backup plan is when topwater fishing is slow in the morning. Thanks, VC
  5. green and brown is the usually all i throw in clear water. Sometimes black or black/blue
  6. Thanks for asking this question as I have Ultrasoft 12# on my crankbait baitcasting setup as well and wasn't that impressed either. While I did like the 6# on my spinning setup which is a M/MF on my MH/MF it wasn't the greatest. Are you by any chance missing more fish then usual on your spinning rod? I use mine for mainly soft plastics and it seems as if i'm not digging the hook into the fish like i use to. I don't think its the rod or the hooks, maybe its the line?
  7. Mine was on a bluegill DT4
  8. Thinking about getting a superlite spinning rod. How do you like yours?
  9. Agreed. I bought the 7'heavy for pitching and i honestly dont even need to look for a replacment for the next ten year. This rod is so light weight and you can feel EVERYTHING
  10. How many people do this? I ask because i noticed i have been getting short bites on my DTs and im wondering if i could be catching these fish if i had some better trebles. One of my buddies recommended the owner stinger trebles. VC
  11. Love the Lake Fork Craw Tube!!
  12. It just feels very stiff and IMO doesnt cast as far as others can. I just picked up some CXX tonight and could not be happier 1000x better then ultrasoft
  13. Whats the difference between the CX and the CXX?
  14. Thanks Chris i might have to check out that P-Line
  15. Right now i am using 12# Yo-Zuri hybrid ultra soft, but i am not the biggest fan. I am looking for a good line for my crainkbait, spinnerbait, and swimbait rod, particularly something that will get my crainks to the right depth and be able to feel what they are bouncing off of. BTW this is on my Curado E7 Thanks, VC
  16. Im specifically talking about creature baits which doesn't include craws or frogs.
  17. I want to widen my collection of creature baits and i noticed TW has the most extensive variety to choose from. Which ones have you guys used and prefer? BTW i have the sweet beavers and brush hogs
  18. What weight sizes did you go with? Like almost everyone that is not a pro i'm trying to only get what i need to and will use.
  19. So i have never used these weights before in my life, but i think its about time i see what all the hype is about. I noticed on cabelas website there are worm weights and flipping weights, do you guys use both? And also what sizes do you use the most? Thanks, VC
  20. What do you guys think of this crank? What colors look good? Thanks, VC
  21. Murky/algae water on an overcast day? Worms specifically but you can add it crainks, spinnerbaits, etc. VC
  22. Try using this frog. I made the switch and could not be happier. It is overall a better product then the spro frogs. River2sea Wully Ba frog
  23. Its a confidence thing. Most people either go bright on cloudy days so the fish can see the bait or dark so its bold. I personally have had the best luck with those colors.
  24. As far as colors are concerned for crainkbaits when you are fishing a clear lake try and think natural colors (bluegill, shiners, etc). When you fishing deeper water no matter what you want a brighter color pattern such as hot mustard or parrot (rapalas). In muddier water just think of visibility you want that fish to see that bait so go brighter. For plastics like my signature says stick to a few colors for the most part. Use watermelons and browns on sunny days with clear visibility. I tend to use the blacks and blues on cloudy days. if you are fishing a muddier water switch it up a bit and add a chartreuse tail to your plastics. Hope this help s
  25. No worries at all dude you are helping me out a lot we well
