  1. skipping senkos and flukes under the docks if they are a good structure dock which sounds like yours are with the stumps and brush.
  2. x2...that rod wont handle braid...atleast not for long it will tear up your guides,go with cxx like big rick said or berkley 100% fluorcarbon is nice and for a cheap line yozuri hybrid is excellent.
  3. avoid mono for a baitcaster, keep that on your spinning setup,id go with 15lb fluorocarbon(100% trilene) or a 30lb braid(power pro),that way you got your spinning set up for certain styles and you can use your baitcaster for putting your baits in slop/pads where the big boys hide,or for throwing swimbaits/heavy baits, but with a mh rod id avoid mono imo.as for a reel id check out abu garcia revo s or sx,shimano citica 200e,pflueger asaro/summit or team daiwa tierra baitcasters, all great reels
  4. never on a fish, was it a cheap stick maybe you dont store them right (i.e against something with the tip bent) my friend keeps his in a closet like that and never fails once a year he busts a tip off cause of the way he stores his rods.
  5. X2, 3, 4 x5.6.7 but with weeds what ill do sometimes is swap out the back hook on the lure to a size or two smaller then the one on there for less chances of geting snagged.get yourself some of the one knocker lipless cranks..work great!!!!!
  6. but he said hes getting backlashes right in the beginning, not middle or end of his cast,so that pretty much has nothing to do with his thumb.if the birdnest is in the beginning of your cast its your brakes, double check them and your spool knoband make sure none of your line is wrapped up on eachother id walk some line out to make sure its not twisted or some of it knoted together.
  7. a shimano reel and look @ the st.croix mojo or falcon bucoo rods.
  8. the ultimate topwater braid reel...abu toro!!!!!! Why on earth would you need a Toro on a rod for topwater applications? I don't think there's a need for 200+ yards of braid woops my mistake ment to put abu revo..sorry bouts that
  9. casting a 1/16 on a baitcaster....your looking for a birdsnest filled afternoon.
  10. i have 3 of them good action...but far from weedless.
  11. $70????? screw that i found them here for $40..have at it man at that price http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/cb/roland-martin-tournament-grade153-i-im-7-skip-jigging-worming-handle-a-spinning-rod.aspx?a=544309
  12. the ultimate topwater braid reel...abu toro!!!!!!
  13. spinning or b.c ? and as for rod, bait that light i would think your targeting smaller fish so go ultralight and make it fun.
  14. only time yer gonna get a steal of a deal from some old timer is when hes senile with dementia...other then that good luck lol!!!!!!
  15. I would like to take you up on that! Come on down to FL and flip some hyacinth and hydrilla mixed mats with me, LOL! I use to be all about the Wal-Mart specials myself! That lasted until i got a boat and started pursuing big fish! I hooked an 8lb bass and the gears in my Shakespeare reel almost melted, LOL! More expensive reels won't make more fish bite but they will help land more once you do convince one. Personally, i buy more expensive reels/rods because of the quality and peace of mind i get from them! I can beat the crap out of them all season and then just clean them up and do it all over again the following year! bring it LOL of course fliipin would hinder me using a 303 u flip ill fish open water instead of flippin just click the thumb button on the 303 pull your line back and "ping" shoot it at yer target lmao, thats real man flipping on the 303 ;D
  16. thats what you think..we all have secretly created an organized crime ring on here,we payed off the security at ICAST,now time to crash the events..bwhahahahaha!!!!
  17. ive been using lizards and power worms,as for flukes,if im fishing in open water ill sometimes put a trailer hook in a plain ol hook texas rig the fluke then take a smaller fluke and just nose hook it on the trailer, makes it look like a small school of baitfish fleeing, gets the bites.
  18. SOL all the way i think that will always be one of my fav. spinning reels, when i die ima be burried with it...love it,so smooth.only difference between them really is what material they are made out of,but imo the SOL looks ALOT better.
  19. maybe it comes with one of his rocket launch fishing poles too ;D
  20. topwater id go braid, not like the fish is gonna see it if your using topwater stuff, specially if your gonna run topwaters over slop and pads.but yea i use a 7' and a 7'6" mh and h both fast.
  21. as to a spinning reel right, cause on a spinning reel the drag is on the spool and the spool is what is spinning on the reel,on a baitcaster the spool spins when a fish is peeling drag but the drag on a b.c is on the handle shaft attached to the anti-reverse bearing therefor the drag star (where clicker is loacated) doesnt spin so no noise.make sense???
  22. x2 on a curado if you like the revo s youll like the shimano also, but i LOVE my sx its alot smoother imo then the s and casts further for me and its easier with light lures.for me its worth the upgrade.
  23. i know carp and walleye guys use it in homemade bait reciepies, but never heard it used alone,or on bass
  24. wait,i like mine weightless for a more natural slow fall, but i really like them ontop over pads and slop now thats it gettn warm out,if i weigh it down its car.rigged all the way i use these alot with AMAZING results, love them, http://www.bogbaits.com/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=125 and http://www.bogbaits.com/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=145
