I've probably caught 90% of my fish so far this year on Chatterbaits, sq bills, t-rigged creature baits and jigs. I always have these baits tied on and have confidence in them so I fish them a lot. If you are just looking to try new stuff and expand your repertoire, pick a new topwater bait, a moving bait and a bottom bait that you want to try and start there. Keep them in your hand and build some confidence with them. You can add stuff as you go.

Other than just keeping it on your line when you fish other lures, I don't think there is much you can do. Even if there was, it would probably be more trouble than it would be worth.

I don't think anyone has mentioned Spro yet, really good jerkbaits and middle of the road price wise.

Other than a couple of gen 2 Revo Winches and a gen 1 Pflueger Patriarch XT I am strictly Daiwa and Shimano. The other companies make good products and I am not knocking them, I just prefer the quality and innovation of Daiwa and Shimano.

He released Lil Hermies (pictured) and some deep divers on the same day and then a few days later he released some round bill baits he announced through youtube. I didn't get in on that one but he's trying to mix things up a little. It's crazy how fast they go.

As far as I know they are sold through Carolina Crankbaits but when they are released they are gone within minutes. I don't do facebook but the maker, Catching Concepts, has a facebook page, he might sell some through that also, not sure. These are very highly sought-after baits and don't last long.

I use shorter rods for target casting and working jerkbaits and topwater baits. 6'9" is a pretty versatile length though and can be used for anything. If you like the rod don't let the length deter you.

Managed to snag a few Catching Concepts redwood cranks. Pictures really don't do the paint jobs justice.

I'm not a big fan of braid for most things but use it 100% of the time for frogging. Frogging and punching vegetation are the 2 things I feel braid is absolutely perfect for. You need the strength and no stretch to get fish out of cover quickly and for hooksets on long casts. I've never had issue with knots, stiffness or breakoffs, getting hung up does suck but not really an issue with frogs.

KVD hasn't made a dime in BPT, missed every cut, I think Christie has too. They are just on a bad run, they will get it together. Edit: I am wrong lol

I live in TX, don't see many gators here where I am but plenty of water snakes and moccasins. I don't wade but not really because of that, I just don't do it. I did fish out of float tubes a lot when I was younger and never worried about it. Snakes don't normally bother you unless you bother them.

The amount of line you take in while reeling also goes down as your spool gets lower.

I've sold off all but 2 of my reels that aren't Daiwa or Shimano. I just feel like they are higher quality, innovative and I appreciate the fact that they are the only companies who design and produce their own reels. I am more partial to Daiwa, mainly due to their braking systems, but Shimano makes great stuff too. Both are easy to use once you get accustom to them. Try out a Shimano and see what you think. The SLX would be a good comparison to the Fuego you already have. The Citica would be the next step up and then the Curado. If you decide to get another Daiwa check out one of the Tatulas and the T-Wing system.

Because it's fun. Probably not going to do it for $100 though. Keep in mind the rod is just as important as the reel.
