  2. thanks guys. it was left hand thread. i got it off with no problems and got it fixed.
  3. hey guys i wanted to know if anyone has ever replaced their starter rope on their motor. mine broke this morning and i wish to fix it myself. i have a model 200 20hp merc that is a 1970. i have taken it apart and im all the way to the point where it looks like i have to take a nut off which is located on the top of the housing. it appears that if you take this nut off the spool which has the rope will drop out. the nut just doesnt want to come off. any info. will be greatly appreciated.
  4. no problem hookhead. something to think about. if its a bit to big thats ok especially if you have a motor on it. i got a cover for mine that was probably 2 to 3 feet bigger and it even covers my motor. saved the money on buying a motor cover. anyway good luck im sure youll find one.
  5. i believe wal mart carries them.
  6. trust us cabelas does have a fishing catalogue. last year they sent me a hard back master spring catalogue. BOY is it NICE!!! i dont think its left the bathroom yet. lol
  7. well jivey im not too shore either, but if your catching them on that ledge infront of your cabin i would definately try there. also look for similar areas around the lake. if you catch one remember the depth so you can find them again. as for the lures just down size from the lures you would use for largemouth. small cranks are always a good choice.
  8. welcome. i hope the fishing is better for you then it is for me ???
  9. i have a 1970, 20hp merc and she is still running. i think that says alot.
  10. garmin 240 or 250. both are in your price range and are solid depthfinders.
  11. yall? where are you from? LOL anyway fishing golf course ponds can be fun. also good for catfish
  12. never heard of it, but if there are bass to be caught i say give it a try. good luck
  13. sounds interesting but will it catch fish or just fishermen
  14. 8lbs. didnt measure. caught the bucketmouth on a 4inch worm in PA
  15. nice boat. i have a simiar sized boat and i have an old mercury 20hp. and it runs good. i guess it would also depend on what motor you are looking at. i might also consider putting some carpet down.
  16. im kinda similar to raul. although i do try to plan ahead of time but you just nver know out there on the water. things can change by the minute.
  17. never while peeing but yes i have fell in. i use to be in the 420 club, not any more though :'(
  18. weightless worm.. fish on!
  19. bowfin is an interesting fish to catch. lots of teeth. the red eyed bass was simply a rock bass. as for the holes and scars, just as you guys mentioned they can be from turtles, birds, and pike or musky. some of the defects do come from spawning. others are from diseases. it is possible that since the weather has been so warm this will cause stress to the fish and the visible signs of the disease will begin to show. most fish out there carry diseases all their life they just arent affected by them. its when the fish gets stressed is when the disease will actually come out. fish will get stressed due to warm water conditions which causes low dissolved oxygen, also from being caught will cause stress and so on.
  20. drop offs dont have to be dramatic. they can be subtle. a small drop off on a flat, say about a foot can also be a drop off and can hold fish. just keep in mind it doesnt have to be dramatic or obvious. everyone fishes the obvious ones.
  21. lived in PA for most of my life, now i live in tennessee.
  22. im originally from sw pa (uniontown). i have also live in central pa. now im finishing college in tennessee. i cant wait to get back to PA. i use to fish small lakes and had excellent luck. if any of you guys fly fish for trout DO NOT come to tennessee unless you live by the smoky mountains. LOL!
  23. HH said it, it's sloooow at best!
  24. hey bassterd i use to live in central PA (state college). i would catch alot of fish on worms. most the lakes that i fished were filled with lilly pads, grass and stumps and were shallow. weightless worms, shallow cranks, and small spinnerbaits worked excellent. texas rigged worms along the weed line worked well too. what kind of lakes are you fishing? shallow or deep? alot of cover or little cove?
