  1. agreed... but let me put it this way, i didn't break 5 pounds in my lake in 09, I was screaming like ike at a 4 lber lol.
  2. there's rarely a picture that let's you accurately see these things though... unless someone actually gives measurements. Plus sizing references will be skewed depending on how far the fish is held from the body, angle of the picture, closeness to the camera, etc. but, if they had the measurements, they wouldn't have to post up to see what people thought they weighed 8-) btw, which pic are you talking about? 3rd down from the top is the only photo that has enough details; your index finger and bass profile, to make a guess. 3.3 lbs = 3.5 oz. WRB PS; how hard is it the use a length of line, then measure the line when you get home. A good scale takes away the guess work. 3rd pic down is a hair over 2lbs lol
  3. I make my living as a professional videographer lol these are all quick cell phone pics 8-)
  4. these are simply pictures of fish I took... I promise they are all different fish, and I promise I had zero intention of making them look any bigger or smaller than they actually did... they are not edited in any way either. no tricks, these are just some pictures I took.

  6. nope, it's not a trick. they're all different fish.
  7. EDIT: This is not a trick, these are all different fish I caught throughout last year. So all too often, we see people people make a post "didn't have a scale, but it was a solid xxx" or people trying to guess the weight of the fish. Here's a lil test for those that are interested. All fish have been weighed, and I have the weights. What do you think these fish weigh? for good measure i threw in a pickerel! #1 #2 #3 #4 #5 #6
  8. exactly. you CANNOT estimate weight from a picture, bottom line, don't care what anyone says.
  9. I almost always use a 3/0 ewg 1/8oz keel hook. It casts further, but is not enough weight to kill the action. I find the 1/8 oz actually provides more "wiggle" as the bait falls, and the weight keeps the hook always facing up, meaning significantly less snags.
  10. car fax reports have never helped me. most of the time i thought they were a waste. Why do you think a car-fax is a waste ? car fax is only good if someone take their car in for regular servicing and/or reports all their accidents... suppose I crash my car, and I own a repair shop. (not the case, just making an example) I fix the car. It could have substantial damage as a result of that accident, even though it's fixed. The car has not been reported as in an accident. I've bought cars with a clean carfax that needed work the day I brought them home. People that know how a carfax report works know the ways aroun it, which they'll do if they're shady people. Personally, I don't trust anyone else to be honest enough, I would have the car checked out myself.
  11. http://www.truedelta.com/repair_histories.php#8 they also have real world gas mileage, reported by people that own the car, and some other cool things that other sites don't have.
  12. go to true delta and look up the car. This is a great site, worth the time to sign up and see the results. Basically people sign up, list their car, and monthly or weekly they go back to the site, update their mileage, any problems that have occured, and for the problems, what the cost of repair is. So, you get real data, from real people, not just a compiled list of results that may or may not be accurate. Most of the cars with the most info are going to be what enthusiasts own, but worth taking a look to find out.
  13. on spinning gear, I can really bomb a spinnerbait way out there. casting gear, probably less than half the distance.
  14. Great info, but you don't want to move the fish back and forth through the water.. the gills are designed to take water one way. I know many, many people do it that way, not even realizing it's wrong. Just hold it on the side of the boat gently till it's ready to swim away, and then let go.
  15. I agree, and if I have the time, I head out around 11 or so and stay through the afternoon. Many of my biggest fish have been caught midday.
  16. I keep a very limited tackle box, but better believe that everything in it is killer. I don't fall to the baitmonkey, and if I'm using baits that just work, why buy something other than more of that bait? That's always been my philosophy. Not unusual for me to go out, get laughed at by the guys with 100million baits, and then outfish them, only for them to ask for what i'm using lol. I don't base my color selection, bait choice, fishing location, etc. on anything other than what the fish are telling me, and my past experiences. Keep it reel simple, and have fun. If something works, i keep it. If i don't catch fish with a particular bait, it doesn't go in the box.
  17. you don't mind that they are unpainted? why would they need to be painted?
  18. I have tried some of the cheaper weights, and my advice, is don't waste your money. Your going to lose baits, hooks, and in the long run end up spending MORE money. Most of the cheap weights, like said, can be a little rough. The more expensive weights are very smooth, and won't damage your line like the cheaper baits will.
  19. and this, in my eye, is exactly what makes it hard to determine a fish' memory. Certain instincts will most likely override safety, one being protection, another being aggression. I think too many people forget that fish don't only bite to eat. Plus, we don't know what kind of risk each individual fish is going to take in order to eat. (when they do strike to feed) Sometimes a fish will come up, look at your bait, seems to almost sniff it, then takes off. Then another will come and eat it. Makes it hard to determine behavior when your only point of reference is what you see on the lake.
  20. I've caught the same bluegill 5 times within one minute... I've caught tons of fish with visible fresh hook mark, and i've caught plenty of fish with hooks still embedded in their mouth. I don't know what that proves about memory, because i'm not a scientist.
  21. I started using a baitcaster last year, and use it these days whenever possible. It's all preference, i'm sure there's people that will give a convincing argument that casting is better, and i'm sure others will give a convincing argument that spinning is better. (I find this topic to almost be like discussing manual vs. automatic tranny on a car forum. both sides have their fans) Use what feels best to you.
  22. And i'm sure if you buy enough he'll cut you a great deal. Not really sure what the op's definition of "bulk" is.
  23. early spring, and fall are typically best for walleye, but they can be caught all season. Evening/nightime is best. Walleye have pretty good light receptors in their eyes, (that's why their eyes glow bright white in any light, and where they get their name from) so they use the darker times of day to have the advantage over their meals, and that's when they're most active. What has worked for me is since walleye are school fish, once we find them we stop the boat. Trolling will certainly help if you're not familiar with the water, but like any fish if you know a little about walleye, and where they like to hang out, and then can find those spots, no point in trolling after that. Look for rocky structure in 10-20 feet of water. Once you find them, a drop shot is excellent. A little chop on the water is even more ideal. When you're on a big, new lake, like I said it's tough to find the perfect spots, but i've never left without a limit once I caught the first fish.
  24. the ratio is simple... say it's 6.3:1... that means every time you turn the handle 1 time, the reel turns 6.3 times. if it's 7:1, the reel turns 7 times every time you turn the handle once. Higher the ratio, the faster you can reel it in. now keep in mind you don't always have to reel like a maniac, you can most certainly reel slower for a slower retrieve. a lower ratio will provide more power, but will have a slower retrieve rate.
  25. I've been on plenty of forums that are crazy busier than this one, and they almost always have a "my posts" and "new posts" section. Seems like you have to go to each individual section here. It was a little annoying at first not to have, but I got used to it and haven't thought about it since I first signed up.
