  1. You might try posing your question on a New York regional forum.
  2. Even the most devoted couples need some time away from their partners, but partying by oneself is a red flag. However, we amateurs don't know how the bipolar and depression affects the situation. I agree with the others that a professional needs to be brought into the picture. I wish you the very best.
  3. I use 15# Power Pro on my reels. Like jkarol24, I use cheap mono backing, leaving room for 50-60 yards of the braid.
  4. W-a-a-a-y far north. Like 1000 miles, give or take.
  5. Never ice fished, never will. I'm too much of a wimp.
  6. I'm a big Shimano fan. Nobody makes a better derailleur.
  7. If you don't need the shock resistance and waterproof features, you can get a camera for $100 or a little more. Virtually all cameras will take pretty good pictures these days. I assume you're not planning to blow the pictures up to 16x20, so the camera will be fine for digital images and smaller enlargements. If you fish by yourself just make sure it has a self timer.
  8. Another vote for 4/0 EWG for the Super Fluke.
  9. My trout experience is from fishing Lake Ontario piers. My favorite baits were Countdown Rapalas and lipless crankbaits, although lots of anglers use spoons and spinners. For what it's worth, a friend has had some success in tributaries of Lake Ontario and some inland streams using original Floating Rapalas.
  10. Trout are cold water fish, whereas bass are warm water, so yes, trout would be more active than bass in the colder months.
  11. I can't answer your question. But if you haven't fished the lake thoroughly, I'd recommend that you fish it as often as you can. Move around, cover a lot of water and try to be there under more favorable conditions, such as low light or pre-cold front. After a while you should be able to tell if there's a decent fish population that can be caught from shore. There certainly seems to be nothing wrong with the lures you're using.
  12. Not every fisherman thinks it's necessary to "match the hatch" and many anglers don't have lure color high on their list of considerations. Your lure, in its entirety, must appeal to the fish's senses. Not only does firetiger work, so does every other color. Are some colors better than others? I don't know. But I suspect the color is more important to the fishermen than the fish. I've been fishing 40+ years and have seen so many colors catch fish that I find it impossible to draw any meaningful conclusions.
  13. I have them in a utility box and haven't seen any problems. As far as additives, I was under the impression that salt is the main one and out of the bag shouldn't affect that.
  14. I've never fished a Stik-O; in fact, I've never seen one. It is true that quality control is lacking. That said, I think the color inconsistency affects the fisherman more than the fish.
  15. I don't know what the actual practice is with regard to invoking the Infield Fly Rule, but I think the call was right according to the letter of the law. To me the infielder seemed to be going to the ball at a very ordinary pace with no urgency such that he would've had to hustle just to get to the ball. It could be argued that the call was late and that it was too far into the outfield, but I can't see the possibility that the infielder exceeded ordinary effort. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4Z5MIaISrU
  16. As was already said, sight is the primary means of feeding. The fish has to be near something, maybe a foot or two, to get a scent, but can see much farther than that depending on water clarity.
  17. Very nice fish. Getting a personal best of anything is highly satisfying.
  18. I have a couple of those. They're inexpensive and much easier to use. http://www.basspro.com/Tuning-Tool-Key/product/52284/

Jitterbug, unless there is a specific reason that day not too, such as cold water or dense weeds on the surface.
  20. I also use a Mustad keeper hook, size 4/0. I would not feel confident with the 3/0 that you're using.
  21. I use 15# braid on spinning equipment and have always found it adequate. Never broke off on a hookset and fish some very heavy, dense vegetation and haven't yet had a situation that tells me I need stronger line.
  22. I got mine today, but always wondered about the history that led to the Oct. 1--Sep. 30 license year.
  23. I always preferred a shoulder bag. While holding a fish with my left hand I can get anything I need from the bag with my right hand, such as pliers, tape measure, scale or whatever. I use a Cabela's bag but the bag size and pocket configuration which suited my needs superseded brand consideration.
  24. I'm not necessarily recommending this method, because I don't know if it's any good, but it fits with my level of patience and overall makeup. I tend to cover as much water as I can until I learn something about the characteristics of that body of water. Then I do what I think is appropriate. On some waters I will always fish it by moving around because there's no history of a reliable spot and at other places I've stood in the same place for an hour and one-half. But I'll always fish fast and cover water at a new place.
  25. That's really interesting. I wonder if I was just shown the sentence if I would've figured it out.
