which Hendrix rod???
If your going to be paying 160-200 per rod I'd look at Powell, Kistler, Shimano all have amazing rods in that range. I wouldn't order direct from retailer either, check out ***.

Crankbaits and Swivels?
Well there ya go I learned something new as well. Thanks for clearing that up Raul err Yoda ;D, I had thought the swivel allowed a better side to side or roll action.

new guy
Welcome, I grew up in NC and have fished a few lakes there myself. You will find a great deal of information on these boards! Welcome!

Crankbaits and Swivels?
The quick snaps add another friction breaking point. I have read a long discussion on these boards that many stated the swivels actually make the action better, I can not confirm or deny this. I personally don't use them, but if your going to, make sure to get swivel snaps. I saw Bass Pro Shops® Pro Qualifier Swivels with Snap recommended a few times as well.

which Hendrix rod???
Hm if your dead set on Hendrix this should be easy... This would be my set up, but some of these are not ideal and I would personally not go with all Hendrix at all but heres my shot at this: Baitcast: Flipping Rod: FS904x 7'6" 10-30lb 1/2 - 2 oz Fast Extra Heavy Worm Rod: WR843 7' 8 - 17lb 1/8 - 3/8 oz Fast Med Heavy Frog/Swim Bait Rod: FR845 7'0" 10-20lb 3/8 - 1 oz Mod Fast Med Heavy Drop Shot Rod: SJ783 6'6" 6-14lb 3/16 - 5/8 oz Fast Medium Spinner Bait Rod: 66MH 6'6" 10-17lb 1/4 - 1 oz Fast Med Heavy Crank rod: CB845 7' 10-20lb 3/8 - 1 oz Mod Fast Med Heavy Spincast rods: Carolina rig: SCR844 7' 10-25lb 1/4 - 1 oz Fast Heavy Finesse rod: SCB70ML 7' 8-17lb 1/16 - 3/16 oz Mod Fast Med Light

Help with hook-ups on Ribbit frog
X2 also you can use a 5/0 Hook in the Ribbits after I switched to a Owner 5/0 twistlock (started with a 4/0) my hooking percentage jumped significantly. Yeah brand isn't as big of a deal. I like Owner or Gama. I use a Gama 5/O, Owner 5/O would be just as good. I do recommend getting the "Superline EWG" though.

WI / ILL
I am planning on attending, does anyone have room still in their rooms / cabins? I would glady car pool with anyone down there or else I can drive solo the whole way. Just trying to make some preparations. Also looking for a spot on a boat... would glady pay gas and what not.

I like a Gama 5/O superline EWG for frogs.

dual purpose flipping / frog rod
I ended up debating for quite some time. I ordered the Kistler 7'1 H pitch n' flip rod. I think this will serve as a great frog rod with a strong backbone, and a good flip / pitch rod until I can invest in a designated heavy duty flipping rod. Had to weigh the lakes I fish most often in the Madison chain don't have any super heavy cover so I think I will be fine for now. I would like to thank everyone for all the great input! (P.S. The Kistler will be paired with a Revo S w/ either 50 or 65# braid)

HOW DO YOU.......
That is a really good idea, wow thats neat. I usually only chum the water when fishing for cat... I'll throw a few handfulls of corn and dinner bell fish chum out into the current where I am fishing. Then stick some cut bait on line and toss it out.

dual purpose flipping / frog rod
Right back to square 1 now ;-) The Dobyns 766 is 7'6. The kistler comes in 7'1 and 7'5, my concern is the trade off between frogging and flipping. Will the 7'1 flip well enough into thick cover to warrant getting it for the better frogging.

dual purpose flipping / frog rod
I had looked at the Dobyns, but its a MH. Wanting something in H for flipping thick cover.

dual purpose flipping / frog rod
I'm getting all hung up over 4" difference of the rods. I think the 7'5 will work t-rigged weighted senkos along the bottom, cast frogs and flip and pitch well all in one. Mainly wanted a solid rod to back up the Powell 683c I just bought.
