New Skeet Reese rods
what are you doing with the rod? id like a spinning rod that handles 3/8 oz jigs but im on the fence here with this rod. Was using it to drag a 1/4-5/16oz tube. I dont see any issues throwing a 3/8 oz jig on here, I'll give it a shot and PM you.

Rod length, impact on casting distance
Short answer, yes. Longer rod = longer casts = more water covered

Jig ?
black and blue, green pumpkin, PBJ only 3 colors I have in my jig box.

New Skeet Reese rods
After another long day working this rod hard I have come to really like it. For the price this rod is very worth while. The only thing I still just can't get over is the bottom twist reel locks. I just dont like holding the reel twist... this isn't a deal breaker but still just annoying.

Jig swapping and alterations.
Throughout the summer my go to jig for docks and weed pockets had been black/blue or green pumpkin 3/8 wide gap jig. So far this fall that pattern has changed in a hurry, I have switched to a 5/16 finesse jig in PBJ or a brown / red color combination. Along with more trimmed off the weed guard. Curious what everyone else does to their jig arsenal when prepping for fall. What changes you make, if you downsize jigs or keep them the normal size. I have not downsized in the past except in very clear water or pressured areas, but so far I have found this downsize has triggered the bite to turn from luke-warm to hot in this colder weather.

Lake St. Clair
Ended up kind of rough for us. The very high winds on Thursday and Friday was enough to turn the lake. Was hard to get on a pattern until late Saturday. Caught a couple 3-4# and a 6-1 Saturday once we figured out the patterns, cranking 8-12 fow seemed to be the ticket. We had our weigh points marked out and ready to go, Sunday morning we get a call that 2 of our boaters were sick/ something had come up so we would be getting 1 replacement boat and fishing 3 guys to a boat with 3 boats in total (bummer because you take the top 3 boat weights, most teams fished 4-5 boats). On top of that, the weigh points we had marked on Saturday were in the gps's and we'd be fishing off memory and general areas. So we decided to flip docks to try and catch a quick LM limit and then go try and figure out our deep pattern again to upgrade. Not the best idea, pulled out 2 LM and quite a few shorts in the first 3 hours, decided to head out deep and only picked up 1 browny about 4#. 3 fish for the boat, another got skunked and the other picked up 2 fish. So hard to learn a lake that big of a lake in 2 days, glad we did as well as we did considering the turnover and boater issues. I need to go fish Monona or the Mississippi and regain some dignity ;D Michigan State ended up winning with 2 boats pulling in 17+ pound browny bags. On another note, got to meet Robbie and Falcon, great guys.

New Skeet Reese rods
I snapped the tip off my avid spinning rod about 2 weeks ago, sent it in and did not receive a replacement in time for my tournament this weekend. Decided to give a the skeet reese rod a shot, bought the 6'11 shakey head / senko rod for dragging tubes. I must say the overall sensitivity and quality is good, I would put it higher overall than the mojo, about the same category as the falcon bucoo or a kistler magnesium. It does have a few very obvious flaws though. 1) It is slightly on the heavy side. 2) The spinning model reel seat screws up from the bottom. I have no idea why they did this or how it got past quality control? The problem is not that it screws up from the bottom, but that when it does, it screws up so far that your hand no longer even sits on the eva foam. Your palm rests on the spiral plastic just above the foam grip. I find this extremely annoying and a huge flaw in the engineering and construction of this rod. Will be fishing it heavily again tomorrow, will let you know any further findings.

Here's another vote for the ardent smart cull. I love it.

Owner vs. VMC (Treble Hooks)
I have heard the VMC treble hooks are good, but after my experiences with their normal hooks I wont touch them.

for you dog owners.
Standard Poodle. Hands down. ;D

Dry firing a gun?
Dry firing must not be an issue with military grade rifles? We dry fired them ALL the time. Part of a function check.

Sickening
Are you kidding me? Favre was so d**n good he went to Sears at half time and bought a TV.

Sickening
Think I could have told you that. :

Sickening
This is making me sick seeing Favre in that jersey.

spiderwire
I put it on my smallie rig. Kinda re thinking the 4# decision though. 4# would work if it is very very clear water, I use 6# fluoro for smallies on my drop shot and tube set ups.

Mike Iaconelli: Exclusive Feature-Length Video! New!
Great Video! Pitch skipping.... now that sounds like a backlash and a half. ;D

Pitchin' and flippin' techniques
I use pitching pretty much is a short cast, it is just a way of doing it to acheive a low trajectory entrance to the water. This is done when minimal splash (no splash) is a desired effect. Flipping is pretty much the same but ever shorter distance. It allows you to disect a section of mats or whatever SIGNIFICANTLY faster and with more accuracy.

How important is a sensitive rod, learned today.
A) Switch to a spinnerbait (or something similar). or Position the boat with the wind parallel to my line(preferably at my back). Easier to keep a tight line this way, crosswinds are the worst.

pflueger supreme xt
Great reels. I like Pflueger for my spinning reels. I have an 8025 for my drop shot set up and a 9035 for draggin tubes.

spiderwire
Spiderwire makes some good mono, but thats about it. What you using it for?

What the heck.
i hate functions. fairly easy but just far to time consuming.
