finicky pond bass
Try a shakey head or a drop shot. If that doesn't work then those fish need to see a swimbait ASAP! ;D

New PB last night!

If you could, WHERE?
I've been to Casitas and Table Rock. So my list now is: 1. Guntersville 2. El Salto 3. Champlain 4. Falcon 5. The big "O" Interesting It might be a little more touched once I'm done with it. Whoops that came out wrong :-?

your favorite big fish bait.
Mattlures soft bluegill or 10" texas rigged worm. 8-)

Most Underated Technique or Tackle?
IMO the most under rated technique is just simply swimming a grub on a jighead. Its so simple that most people don't want to try it. I was at Table Rock in late May and I was killin em on that technique. 4 lb smallies all the way down to dinks. It just catches fish.

What rods do you use for these baits?
For the wake jr, mattlures bluegill, and spro shad I use a Dobyns Gen 1 795ML swimbait rod. The best small to medium swimbait rod on the market IMO. I throw swimbaits with 20-30lb mono or copolymer. Now for the DD22 and redeye shad, I don't fish DD22's but a 7'-7'6" mh moderate action rod would be good. And 12 lb flouro would be about right for deep diver. I fish lipless cranks on a 7' mh fast action rod with 30 lb braid so I can rip it out of the grass. Hope this helps Just curious but why do you throw swimbaits with braid? :-?

Cutting Down/ Amping Up My Arsenal
Definitely pick up some Mattlures swimbaits, those will get you the big boys for sure. And to add to your list throw in some 10" worms, supersize your lizards to 8", and get some FROGS! Hope that helps

Unique Question
Use a sabiki rig. Its a saltwater rig that has between 8 and 10 hooks with little pieces of tinsel flash stuff. You cast it out and reel it in, its an awesome way to get baitfish in saltwater so I don't see why it won't work here.

Shore fishing in August
I'm going on vacation soon so I won't have any time to fish the rest of July. But when I get back I'll have plenty of time to fish, problem is I'm shorebound. The lake I usually fish has moderately clear/stained water. The structure is long points and underwater humps and roadbeds. The cover is laydowns, grass beds, and chunk rock/riprap. I've never fished this lake in August before so I don't have any previous success to go on. I know this a big question, but where would you start looking to find bass and what lures would you use? If I haven't given enough info please let me know. Thanks

Need a dropshot rod that won't break the bank
Raul is right on with that info. But i do have a suggestion for a good quality dropshot rod, check out the BPS Extreme 6'8" ML spinning rod. I have this rod and it is awesome for dropshotting.

Best line for soft plastics and jigs?
Yes, but I always have a rig or two spooled up with something different to try. I'm currently experimenting with braid on my main jig rod and deep crankbait rig. I have recently used both Vicious and P-Line CX Premium. So, I'm not a total stick-in-the-mud, but I haven't found a line I prefer to Hybrid. 8-) Ok i gotcha. Please let us know how the braid experiment on your deep crankin rig goes. Now that I think about it, braid would be good for deep cranks

Best line for soft plastics and jigs?
Hey roadwarrior do you have that saved somewhere so you can just copy and paste it For plastics I use 12 lb fluoro and for jigs its either 20 lb fluoro or 50 lb braid.

Switching rods
Ya you're right I feel really stupid now because the rod was an impulse buy. I'll fish it and see how I like it.

Switching rods
Ya but since ill only be using jerkbaits in the winter wouldnt it be right to get a more sensitive rod? I know the LTB is sensitive, but compared to a cumara I want the rod to be best suited to its technique and if im doin more finesse bottom contact stuff wouldnt a cumara be the right choice. And it would look sweet with a core 51mg on it

Pitching Reel - Centrifugal or Magentic Braking
I use a Revo S right now because I pitch with my jig rod and thats what its on. I'm lookin at getting a zillion in the future for my dedicated flipping/pitching rod.
-
dual purpose flipping / frog rod
Thats about my height so the 7'6" rod wont be a problem trying to work a frog and it will be more than capable of getting a bait back into thick cover.
-
Pitching Reel - Centrifugal or Magentic Braking
I don't use braking when i pitch, its all about the tension knob.

dual purpose flipping / frog rod
Oooo thats a tough one. How tall are you?

new steez frog rod:D
Ya thats probably true, but i read in bassmaster how ish uses that rod for frogs. But then again this new frog rod wasn't out. If you end up getting this rod please let us know how you like it

Switching rods
I bought a 6'6" Med St. Croix LTB baitcasting rod few months ago. It was between that or carrot stick or cumara. Well the rod has just been sitting on my rack in perfect condition with price tags still on. I want to use it for jerkbaits, shakyhead, and finesse t-rigs. But ill only be using it for jerkbaits in the winter. Should i return it and get a cumara or another rod instead? Just looking for opinions as i dont know what to do with this rod
