  1. Nrx873c CRR. Rep sample nrx853c used from the boards here Nrx852s from the auction site Saved about $500 if I bought them new. The casting rods looked hardly used. The rep sample still had the stickers etc. the cork is a little worm on the 852s but it's manageable. Hopefully ordering reels this week. Already picked up a ci4+ stradic for the spinning Rod.
  2. For general casting jigs and worms do you think a 7 speed is needed. I abide by the rule that any time slack is generated such as jigging a worm you'll want a high speed reel. I mostly use 6 speeds for moving reaction baits. However I do quite a bit of throwing jigs and plastics in open water. For flipping I know to use high speed.
  3. What color Pop max to start out with? What do you guys think
  4. Yeah not planning to order until next week
  5. What size would you use for say a 4 inch worm? What about a 6 inch fat roboworm? Thanks
  6. Final verdict: I picked up a nrx 853c off the boards here. A few days later found a demo 873crr. So think I'm covered jig and worm wise up to 3/4. Anything above I'll use my H flipping Rod.
  7. I use a diawa tatula frog Rod. I have it spooled with 50 pound braid. I also use the Rod for flipping pitching and Alabama rigs. It's rated 3/8 - 2 ounces. Pretty versatile.
  8. I usually use it for shaky heads. Tied to an 8 pound fluro leader. Currently I have been using 15 pound test power pro super slick. Was thinking of moving down to 12 pound test.
  9. I just got my 852s in. I was planning on throwing 12 pound power pro tied to an 8 pound fluro leader. Those tip guides look awful small. Anyone through braid on their NrX spinning?
  10. I'm looking at putting a 7 speed metanium on a jog and worm Rod. Not for flipping. Will be casting jigs and Texas rigs. Should I look at the chronarch? Seems to have more line capacity.
  11. st croix premier 6"6 medium fast action. Split grip version available from cabelas if you prefer split grips.
  12. The ended up taking 15% off a stradic ci4+ I wanted. Sweet.
  13. Hey guys... Just picked up my first nrx. A slight used 852s from eBay. I plan to use it mostly for shaky heads. Will have a 3/16 head on it 80% of the time. Planning to spool with either 12 or 15 pound braid tied to an 8lb leader. Now trying to find a reel. Thinking of a 2500 stradic ci4. Any others to look at? Also what other uses do you use your 852s for?
  14. Any more ideas? Looking at nrx 3 or 4 power. Mostly throwing 3/8 weights plus plastics or trailer.
  15. 2-7 foot medium heavy action. Use for jigs worms. All around workhorse. Flipping stick. Also use for Carolina rigs and football jigs. Alabama rig as well. MH moderate action crank bait Rod. Medium action 6 foot 6 inch Rod for topwaters and jerkbaits. Also doubles as a close in cover casting spinnerbait Rod 7 foot medium action spinning Rod.
  16. I would stick with the 4 power if you pick the Dobyns based on your anticipated weights. You may be ok with the 3 power in the loomis but if you are using 3/4 ounce baits more than the others get the 844.
  17. The Loomis E6x is far better Rod than a gl2
  18. Ended up finding a Tatula frog Rod 7'4 H for $125
  19. I locked up the e6x to be in addition to the nrx/glx
  20. I picked up a e6x 843 mbr today. MH. Rated 1/4-3/4. So now since I'll have a option for higher weight jigs I'll stick to my sweet spot of 3/8 and get the 3 power nrx. Thoughts?
  21. I don't fish around much cover. Wanted to get a dedicated frog rod with braid. I don't use braid on anything else other than spinning rod. Since I have about everything else covered it would be a frog only Rod. Any advantage from say a $170 Tatula frog Rod versus a mojo slop n frog or dobyns fury 735?
