  1. Catt- This is kinda off the subject of this post. But I wanted to ask the question about reeling ALL of the slack out of the line when setting the hook. I was watching The Bass Pros on the versus channel and it had Woo Daves on there talking about setting the hook on plastic worms...he said NOT to reel in all of the slack and even showed an example by holding the worm in his hand and the rod in the other and doing hook sets with a slack line and a tight line. on a tight line the hook barely went through the worm. And on a semi slack line the hook set actually ripped the worm in half when it went through it. So my question is when people say lower the rod tip, reel in the slack and set the hook. Do you want ALL of the slack out or do you want a semi slack line when setting the hook??

  3. I bought a 05 Tacoma last year. It's a 4 cylinder 4x4 extended cab and I love it. I wouldn't trade this truck for the world. Of course you can haul your rods in the bed. But I bring my rods to work everyday to sneak in some fishing when I get the chance after work And I keep the rods inside my truck so nobody thinks of stealing them. I also can easily fit my 8' pond prowler on the bed. All around great truck and it gets decent gas milage.
  4. Awesome fish and awesome story. Congrats and welcome!
  5. Wow! I'm glad this got posted. I just dropped my phone in the lake 2 days ago. I will give that a shot tonight. Hopefully it works for me! Thank you!
  6. Paul- I was watching an episode of Bill Dance the other day and he had a pie chart on there showing percentages of people who catch fish from 5-10lbs. It said only 2% of bass fishermen catch a bass over 10lbs in their lifetime.
  7. http://www.gastongazette.com/news/pound-45724-catch-advice.html I'm not sure if I posted that link right or not...but try cut and paste into your browser. It's funny that this topic comes up today when I was just reading this article published by one of our local newspapers. Tell me if you think that bass weighs anywhere close to what they claim...have a nice day folks!!
  8. You know what? After doing some research on all of this and reading a lot of the posts on here...i'm going to recant my earlier comments on the NFL being rigged. I honestly have never believed this and I hate my employee for pointing this out and making me think about this. It would really involve too many people to work and I am definitely not a conspiracy theorist nor do I ever intend to be one. Thanks guys for pulling me back down to Earth.
  9. Yes I know he holds the record for most interceptions and he did make some really bad choices in his career. But I was just seeing what everyone thought about this subject. I had never thought about it until this guy I work with started talking about it after the NFC championship. I think it could happen but who knows. That's why I hate conspiracy theories because who really knows the truth? You don't unless you are involved in the so called conspiracy.
  10. Dude...yeah I realize how much the superstars get paid. I know there will be naysayers with everything. But with how much money the NFL makes don't be so naive to not think there are under the table deals going on to get the right outcome of big games. Do you not know how many big time millionaires bet on these games and cant throw some money around to get the right outcome??
  11. That half time show sucked big time! My wife's grandmother (75 years old) even said they were horrible. I did like the little timer in the background too!! And I dont even think I heard a word Carrie sang...especially a wrong key...I was just trying to keep the drool from coming out of my mouth. Wow she wore those paints RIGHT!!! She could sing the National Anthem for every sporting event as far as I'm concerned.
  12. Yeah Peterson had 7 fumbles on the year and he fumbled the ball all the way back to high school but 4 in one night! I think that's how many times he fumbled in that game. And then I know Favre is the master of interceptions. But running and throwing BACK across the field in that situation was wayyy too fishy for me. I'm just saying I hope that these games aren't rigged and I've never really thought about it until now. But it could be easily done by the higher ups. I hate to think that Manning could do it. But what if he got a phone call one night and it said if he doesn't give the Saints a good chance of winning that he could kiss the hall of fame goodbye. I'm not saying that happened but couldn't it easily have happened?? And then you have the chance of people getting paid off by the NFL to throw an interception or fumble the ball. Say 100,000 for every fumble or 80,000 for every interception. What would you do with the offer??
  13. Don't get me wrong. I'm glad the Saints won and I think they deserve it. But how many times has Peyton Manning basically threw the ball to the other team with the game on the line? I mean the receiver might have ran the wrong route but he looked like he just said here's the game Saints and threw the ball to the defender. And then in the NFC championship game with Peterson fumbling x amount of times and Favre throwing that dumb pass at the end for an interception. Peterson hardly EVER fumbled during the regular season. Then this topic takes me back to the Patriots winning the SB after 9/11. Maybe just a coincendence right? I hope this is not the case and this is the reason College football is better than pro IMO. I know I may get thrashed for this post and it may even get deleted but this is a possibilty.
  14. My wife is due on Feb 16th...so the long wait is over. Only a couple more weeks until my son arrives. It really is just now starting to hit me that I'm about to have another kid. My daughter is 4 years old. She wanted a sister but I'm sure she will have fun with a brother too. Well I hope everyone here is doing ok and still catchin em. Take care everybody.
  15. Go for it man.
  16. I hope all goes well. Prayers being sent out from here.
  17. Speaking of terible QB's....We, the people of Carolina, will give you Delhomme gladly! As far as your subject line....hmmm not sure about that one. Maybe we will see a Carolina vs Washington Championship game next year?.....
  18. About the BB gun fights. Well we had a Red Rider that broke. Well kinda...it had a BB stuck in it and you could hear it jiggling around but it would never come out when you shot it. So I would always scare my buddy with it and act like i was going to shoot him but the BB would never come out. Well we were in my pool and I came up from under the water and all I saw was barrel. He shot me at point blank and this time the BB DID come out. It he me square in the forhead. After about ten minutes I could see the knot on my forehead just by looking up. Lucky I still have both eyes. Too many dirt bike and 4 wheeler stories to list. Definitely had an awesome childhood with my buddies and my little brother! Oh yeah forgot to mention the huge hill in front of my house on the road my mom always told us to stay off of with our skateboards. Well we would always go down on our butts but one day decided to try to make it all the way to the bottom standing up. My buddy got the speed wobbles at the bottom and fell off breaking his arm and causing me to get some nasty road rash. My mom was tickED!! Those were the days!
  19. Glad to hear you're ok. Those Mustangs really can get away from you easily in the ice. My wife wrecked her Mustang in some black ice about 4 years ago. Luckily she wasn't hurt either. She just hit a road sign and messed her car up a bit. Definitely go SLOW when the possibility of black ice is out there.
  20. I want to know where has this Panthers team been all year? Oh yeah I remember behind Delhomme who seems to throw the ball to the other team more than his own. They looked real sharp last night. Hopefully that win over the Vikings will give them some answers for next year.
  21. You know I've been thinking the same thing. I loved reading Muddy's posts. Where have they been?
  22. I have also thought a couple of the fights were rigged. But I want to believe that Kimbo wouldn't have been alright with a rigged fight. If it was rigged it was kept between Alexander and the UFC. I thought the fight between Kimbo and Nelson was rigged as well so they could keep trying to bring Kimbo back the whole time and keep everyone watching and anticipating his come back.
  23. Oh I hear you about Lesnar. I don't think anybody in the house stands a chance against him. Hopefully he can come back to fight. I haven't heard anything lately on him. You? I was really impressed with Kimbo too. I think he showed that he does belong in the UFC with that fight. I think he needs to fight at 205 though. I know he may lose some muscle but he will still be one of the bigger 205 fighters if he can make the drop. He needs to keep improving his ground game too. He looked like he dazed Alexander with a few of his jabs too. That guy is just powerful! And yeah people can call it what they want about Dana bringing him back even though he lost in the first round on the show. This guy can fight and he will make him lots of money in the future. Smart move from a business man's point of view IMO.
