  1. Hey Ben nice fish. Now just catch 4 more of those a day and you''l cash some checks.I wish it was that easy. My first tournament I fished last year I caught three 4 pounders in about an hour in the same spot. Couldnt catch any more keepers , several 14 inchers but 15 inches was the minimum for weigh in, just weighed in my 11.8 pounds and called it a day.
  2. you kinda remind me of Mike Vick if he was a fullback, minus the dog killing part of course That fish u got been eating and eating good. I love catchin me some butterballs
  3. They are also kinda nasty to fish. Make sure you wash your hands and keep your hands away from your face.
  4. water on lake anna isnt muddy at all, wonder why tho. I even caught a few 1 pounders off my dock today. There were 13-16 inch bass swimming all around my dock, I must have seen two dozen at least. Wish I had a boat cuz I could have slammed 'em today on shakeyheads. Dont think Im gonna make it out to the meet and greet either. Too busy of a weekend.
  5. My fiancee wont let me take pics of her fish cuz shes camera shy. She always catches the biggest bass of the day too. Just cant get her to put a senko down and try something else. I can respect a lady that has the patience and technique to fish a jig properly. Kudos
  6. Best circuit in VA hands down
  7. sweet rig endless. I have one with a 6hp and a trolling motor that was recently gifted to me. The trailer is a POS tho and not good for long hauls. If I could commit to this then Id fill that back seat and give u some pointers on the foot control. Not sure im gonna make this or not tho. Might wanna bring an anchor incase it gets windy and ur on top of fish. Yes I said anchor, no shame in using one when bass fishing
  8. I actually have a jon with a 6hp on it but its a POS and I'd rather not put any money into it. If I had something a lil more stable I'd probably try my luck once or twice out there this year. I bet it's gonna start to produce here pretty soon. Plz post pics and let us know how you do.
  9. considering how high the salt content has been on the potomac, the rain was a welcome change. Once the water clears up in about a week the potomac will start to produce
  10. so when exactly is this taking place anyways ?
  11. Thanks for the well wishes. Its tough, He's 10 years old and had him since he was 7 months. I just wasnt ready for this. Been cryin my eyes out since friday night. He's on 3 meds right now and hoping he lives at least another year if God has that in his plans, if not then he'll take a part of my heart with him that will never heal. And I thought breaking up with a girl was tough, it doesnt even compare.
  12. I wanted to come but dealing with one of my dogs failing heart. Also tryin to stay busy studying for my real estate license. Hard for me to get motivated to fish right now esp since Im boatless for the first time in two years
  13. Only ones that make it are the mom and pop shops that have been around for decades. If you find folks tryin to retire then thats ur golden ticket. Otherwise there is little hope of opening a new tackle shop and making it work. Internet tackle shops dominate and always will.
  14. if 8 people show up and throw down 5 bux each then u have 40 bux at stake which is enough to motivate folks but not make them stressed about losing 5 bux ya know. And if no one is down for that u can fish for braggin rights ;D
  15. The simplest format for something like this is Big Fish wins. Plain and simple. Whoever catches the biggest bass wins a share of the money and whoever gets second gets half as much or something like that. Maybe a prize for third biggest also. Everyone brings a camera and takes a pic with their fish hangin off the scale.
  16. Carrington, just send me a pm. And for whoever has an open seat on something that doesnt sink, holla. Buyer for my BassCat left with it this morning so Im boatless till I find a suitable boat to replace it. If anyone has an 18 foot or bigger aluminum rig with a 90 or bigger on it then lemme know. Was thinkin bout gettin one and putting a powerpole on it.
  17. you can fish the private side in a friggin raft if u wanted to. The water is like glass there all year until mid summer when the renters come with ski boats. Lemme know. I'll let u in one day with ur jon boat. U wont have to go but a thousand feet from the dock at the most to catch quality fish. Once Late April hits the fish will go deep.
  18. I fished the community docks in my neighborhood today on the private side of Lake Anna and caught a bunch of fish in about half hour , biggest was right around 4 pounds.
  19. probably not such a good idea. Fish die in transport often and you can introduce disease and bacteria to Lake Echo. Best to keep them where they are.
  20. I keep all my rods strapped down on the deck for this reason. Might make a dozen casts with one, then a dozen with another, etc.. Sometime I'll try 5 or 6 different things. I guess it's ADD fishing ;D
  21. Why dont you guys wait a few weeks till it warms up some more ? Pond fishing can be tough in this weather.
  22. Sam offered some good advice. Plus you started in the fall which can be a tough time to catch bass for newbies. Spring is coming and the bass will be biting . Im sure you'll have a good day soon when u catch a dozen or so and that will build confidence. Dont stress out, fishing should be about de-stressing.
  23. Getting a loan on a boat ten years old or older is tough. I have never financed a boat or a car for that matter. But from what I have been told banks are shying away from boat loans in general more then ever now. Paying cash for a boat is always your best bet unless you're buying new. If youre smart you can sell it for more then what you paid and upgrade in a year. Im selling a bass boat for 11,000 bux this weekend that I paid 8800 for in November. And last year I sold a tracker I had for 4 months for a grand more then I paid. Just seek out the very best deals and be the first one there with cash in hand. There are always deals to be had.
  24. Ok so Im going on my 6th bass boat in two years so I have been thru this my fair share. First off I wouldnt touch a triton from back then but to each their own. They did some of the worst gel coat work of anyone back then. Little things that need to be added or replaced add up fast too. That 7k dollar boat could turn into 9 grand real fast. Add new batteries, cover, depthfinders, trolling motor, livewell pumps, the list goes on . Also keep in mind that most ppl who buy a boat wth a 150 get tired of it fast. Get the biggest boat you can find with at least a 200 on it. It's better to spend more on a bigger nicer boat that doesnt need much work then to buy something smaller or older and then dump thousands into it. If I were you I would try to find a stratos 295 with a 200 on it. You wont get tired of it anytime soon. Plus that setup will haul the mail and handle rough water like a champ, not to mention the casting decks are massive. Better boat then the triton in every aspect and will hold its value better then the triton which are a dime a dozen. use this site, you're welcome http://boat.jaxed.com/cgi-bin/boat.cgi Also this is worth looking into http://springfield.craigslist.org/boa/2227289484.html
  25. Here's the best advice, save more money up. Get a nice 16 foot jon boat on craigslist that already has a trolling motor, seats, decent trailer, etc..Dont let that money burn a hole in ur pocket. Be patient, good fishing is still at least a month away anyways.
