Zac Brown Band
colder weather has been out for a few years tho actually. They been performing it live since maybe '09 or so. In fact they been touring off the same album for 3 years or something. Great album but the live album is amazing. Easily one of the most talented bands in any genre right now. Their version of Blackbird live is border line P funk material. Not many bands can do country, reggae, funk, and southern rock. As for pure country, right now Brad Paisley does it for me . Zac brown is easily my fave all around band tho no doubt

central va meet and greet/ fun tournament
thats about the size of the one u caught on my boat last spring on Anna. Speakin of which, Tammy and me have pulled some pigs out of Anna lately. We both had one over 5 on the same day and one each over 4 the next day in the same spot on the same school of fish I presume.

Handguns
I have a Glock 35 which isa tactical 40, holds 15 rounds in the magazine ;D Also a Sig P228 and for home defense a Remington 870 Express with an 18 inch barrell and the extended barrell underneath to hold more ammo. Gonna get a nice revolver next. After 6 months of searching for homes and 3 contracts that didnt work out, I finally got a brand new construction home on 12 acres in the country. Havent moved in yet but went out there last week and set up some targets. Put a box of ammo thru my glock and had a ball. My best home defense btw is my 4 dogs I dare anyone to even try and get halfway up the 400 foot driveway :

Lake Anna
I got out in the rain for a couple hours this morning on the warm side here. Decided to do nothing but look for structure holding fish on my lowrance. It was tough but I did find one spot in 14 feet of water that was holding a few dozen fish. I managed 5 fish, 3 on crankbaits and 2 on a pointer. Nothing to write home about. One was actually a decent sized crappie bout 11 inches. Gonna get back out there early tommorow and look for some better fish. I know there were some big ones down there but of course I caught the 1-2 pounders >

Lake Anna
Lake Anna Cup was tough yesterday. 71 teams and not too many weighed in. Winning weight was less then 16 pounds I think. Saw alot of 5-6 pounders brought in but most guys were weighing 8 pound limits. Seems like crankbaits in over 10 feet of water is the ticket. I been startin to get into deep water jiggin for schools of bass. Had a few nice convos with McCotter lately and he showed me exactly where the schools on the warm side are. He caught a 6-12 along with 30 other bass between 2-5 pounds on saturday on the warm side. Im going out with the great Dave Fauntelroy next week on my boat on the cold side. He's gonna be taking me out a few times actually even tho he doesnt guide anymore. My partner used to use his guide service many years ago.. So I guess I lucked out. He's gonna show me all the rockpiles, brush piles, humps, ledges, drop offs, etc..I'll mark them all and use them to fish the LAPR next year ;D Get ahold of me Sam so we can start doing the warm side tourneys. There was one here yesterday, looked like about a dozen boats. Looks like they were all bank beating too. These fish are in the middle of the lake schooled up chasin shad deep. Let's make it happen.

Would this make a decent plastics rod?
Bass Pro has their extreme rods on sale right now and you get a free rod sock and a free hard case for it. I would get her a 6'6 medium and be done with it. I'd actually take it over that falcon.

Private side of Lake Anna getting better every day
on a sidenote, be ready to throw nothing but 6 and 8 pound test when u fish over here in the winter. I get alot more bites that way not to mention you make longer casts with the lighter smaller baits that you need to catch the bass on a regular basis. So make sure you got some medium action rods, I even use a medium/lite rod for small crankbaits and jerkbaits. The fight with a 3 pounder on 6 pound test is something else

Private side of Lake Anna getting better every day
Yes absolutely. During december we'll be fishing dike one alot. Shakey heads, jerkbaits, carolina rigs with grubs, crankbaits and weighted wacky senkos will be the ticket. I have caught some 4+ pounders during the winter on dike one. Its one of the few times you'll ever see me using an anchor. Just pull up about 50 feet from the rip rap, drop anchor and get ready for some good times. I might even organize a private tournament to coincide with everyone's winter break from college.Send me a message a few weeks before you get back and we'll set it all up.

Lake Anna
wow sounds like the fish were hiding out. I wuld expect someone to have at least caught a 10 pound limit this time of year. Thats too bad. At least you got out on the water on a somewhat nice day and got back to land safe. There was an 18 boat private tourney on the private side on sunday but I have no idea what they caught. I gave one guy fishing near my dock some tips but I dont think he took my advice. The fish are destroying senkos, grubs and shakey heads over here right now.If I wasnt still a lil sick I'd be out there looking for some hawgs.

who are the top 3 teams in the nfl?
The season has a long way to go but at this point anyone who even mentions an NFC team in the top 3 needs a reality check. 1) Patriots 2) Ravens 3) Colts

15lb bass on the High Power Herring video added
Fella named George Perry owns the record. 22-4 ;D Ah yes, that was also the world record till recently too right. Who really knows if that ever happened. Didnt he supposedly eat the bass and never take a pic ? I recall reading something in an old bass fishing bible I got. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and assume this 15 pounder was released after being registered for a citation or did you throw it right back in after you caught it ? EDIT: Found this http://www.mrlurebox.com/GeorgePerryBass.htm Guess thats supposed to be 7 pounds bigger then the one in this thread ? Doesnt look that much bigger then the 15 pounds 14 ounces does it ? Interesting, any chance this fish you caught was heavier then you think? Was it a digital scale ? I want more details. That fish just looks bigger then almost 16 pounds to me.

Picking Up Grass Everytime
I use the salty super flukes. I like them much better then the regular flukes. Natural colors work best for me, anything that looks like baitfish. Alabama shiner is one of my fave colors. The strike king flukes are nice too but I never catch much with them for some odd reason so I still prefer the zoom.

That bass would eat the biggest bass in my home lake and still have room for more. What is the state record down there ?

Private side of Lake Anna getting better every day
Hey Marc, congrats on your first born child ! I actually logged on today so I could message you and see how you were. Havent been on here in 3 weeks. To answer a few folks, no I am not a pro guide but becoming a guide on the warm side would be rewarding in so many ways not to mention a good way to make extra money. I don't mind takin folks out for free tho , as long as they are serious anglers . I know few ppl get a chance to fish over here. I have had a chance to fish with a few great guys who didnt ask me for a dime and even turned down my money. And yes Nitrofreak, Elk Creek is one creek over from me. Im on millpond which I think is better fishing from my experience. For now, my trolling motor is dead and I need to get up to woodbridge to get it fixed, just havent gotten around to it. Pondering buying a new boat but the house Im buying needs some things like a barn, fence, garage, deck and paved driveway so I have to prioritize.

Flukes are one of the best things to try when nothing else wll get thru. Hold your rod tip straight up and fish it like a topwater bait . Just rig it weightless with a thick enough hook that it doesnt bend from the grass.

Lake Anna
wish I knew bout the cold side of Anna. Only been there a few times and did poorly. I need to get back out on the warm side here , between being sick and my trolling motor crapping out on me I havent been out in a week. Who are you fishing with on sunday ? Lemme know if you wanna hit the warm side instead. I was killin 'em from my dock last week after my trolling motor died. Zoom fat albert grubs, shakey heads and a rapala x rap have been the golden ticket over here. I managed 14 bass in one hour from my dock last tuesday night ;D

Private side of Lake Anna getting better every day
I been fishing the warm side at least 5 nights a week and catching plenty of fish. If anyone wants to join me one evening or morning then holla at me. Since my girl had surgery on her hand , I have no one to fish with down here. It's nice to have someone out there with me to share some good times not to mention having someone to take pics of all the fish being caught. I didn't think the bite would be so good till November but I guess I have started to figure out how to catch fish here year round. The bite has been good for the last 3 weeks straight and is getting better with hundreds of schools of threadfin shad all back in the creek and creek arms. The best action is less then a thousand feet from my dock ! Primary lures are a wacky 5 inch senko, silent crankbaits and lucky craft pointers. Also getting a few here and there on buzzbaits, poppers and texas rigs. Also the water temp has dropped over ten degrees in the last two weeks. Its averaging 71 degrees on the surface since the recent cold fronts. Send me a PM if interested.

Sounds like u just read that off bass pros website or something. I disagree, I been fishing a 3,000 acre clear private heated lake with 80 degree water and that place gets no pressure whatsoever. Some days you wont even see another bassboat on the lake anywhere. So these are not just for pressured fish. Altho the fish can get spooky on Lake Anna. Really ~ ?? Sounds like you just tapped into my own little dream world right there ! The very sad part of it is - This is your reality - WOW ! A Private Heated Lake - Please excuse me while I clean up all this drool . . . . A-Jay Google Lake Anna in Virginia. The public side isnt heated and produces lots of 6-9 pound fish plus 10 pound stripers. The private side is used to cool a power plant and stays warm all year long. Fishing sux there from May till October then it starts poppin during winter. Good times 8-)

Anyone else fshing with these ? I been wearing the bass out on the 8 foot diver in sexy shad color. Sometimes Im catching them on back to back to back casts. Granted Im fishing a lake with tons of schools of bass. But usually I dont catch great numbers crankin. Ever since I bought these crankbaits I have been addicted to them. If you havent tried these out then you're missin out. Im gonna get the square bill shallow ones next and see how they do. Anyone tried those yet ?

Jerkbaits in the fall???
I been hammering bass with a lucky craft pointer the last few days in a row. And Im fishing 80 degree water on Lake Anna. They arent just for cold water. Infact I was catching them on flukes all summer on the potomac river. Jerkbaits work all year long where I live. Pointers also cast great in the wind which is one of the best times to fish a jerkbait imo. Just make sure you use a rod with a soft tip, I broke off a 6 pounder tonite right when I tried to bring the fish in, I ended up pulling the treble hooks right out of her mouth. I almost pulled an Ike right then and there.

Northern Snakehead: Now A Legitimate Virginia Sportfish
from what i know, this is all wrong. How do you figure this is all wrong ? You cant just say that and not back it up. I read that in woods and water magazine. I rarely if ever get bad info from that publication. And yes the grass filters alot of stuff out, it is a known fact. Please do your research.

Huntsman Lake
Nice catch but if you like Huntsman then you should really try Pelham in culpeper. That place is chalk full of 3-7 pounders and not to far of a drive for NOVA folks. The only downside is there isnt much shore fishing , you need a small boat. I been seeing 8-9 foot plastic jon boats on craigslist for around two hundred bux lately.
