  1. How selfish people can be.
  2. I seriously thought I was going crazy as I was reading the responses going down. Glad you found the problem!
  3. Crazy world.
  4. Crazy video indeed, it looks like he was moving the fish forward only, raising it out when moving back. And it looks like whatever attacked him was intending for the fish not his hand.
  5. That's no bueno, I may not know him, but I wish him a speedy recovery.
  6. I never said I believed what Loose changed posed. Just mentioning what the movie was about. It is interesting though to say the least. Who really killed JFK right? This is just a he said she said argument, there are holes in both. But one thing I will say, is where are the engines, turbines that big just don't disappear.
  7. Actually, it's not. Missing a couple of hours of school or even a day or two will not significantly affect national test scores or even individual school test scores. Our education system is no good, but for other reasons and not this. I agree, not missing one day will not affect most. But again this does not affect everyone equally. National test scores are bogus along with standardized testing. I have family that live in other countries, there standard curriculum compared to ours is ridiculous. I thought East Coast was good, I learned my times tables up to 12 in 1st grade, and learned how to write cursive in 1st grade. I have nephews and nieces who are ages 8-10 and don't know there times table to 6 and still write like chicken scratch. And these are bright kids. And mind you I did not go to some upstanding elementary school, I grew up in a rough neighborhood. I guess education has changed a lot in the last 20 years. In other countries they have a 6th grade education in 2nd grade. Given the standards are different per country but I still think we are behind. But a lot of education's motive is to simply fill seats to get more money. Again this is just my experience, since I have been through the education system on both coasts.
  8. LOL I am tempted to bid, do you provide local pick-up?
  9. You guys should watch loose change and loose change 2, there was a guy who was interviewed on LC2 and died the following week. He was a survivor in one of the small government buildings that collapsed next to the two towers. Coincidence?
  10. Well part of the reaosn they have to close, is because of the rules governing attendance. I used to take opening day off every year in high school. It was no big deal, my grades were good, I made up the work... no biggie just like real life. Now my daughter...she is in 2nd grade. She has straight A's a college reading level (according to our state tests) and has been evaluated for advanced placement in math, reading, and science. I want to take her to our nations capital with me for 3 days (a real educational experience), and if I do, the principal will report it to DSS and I may get grief from them. Not the rant on my own garbage but IF they follow this logic in Indy or where they take off for hunting opening day, then there would be a serious S***storm over this from the parents. Now to the Indy bus drivers, IMO, that is bad. Man up, and get to work. I do it, and most people do it. if you can, then take the day off, if not, be responsible and stay sober enough to get to work the next day. Just my opinion. Which does not make a hill of beans in Indy, lol. Hey I think it s great you were able to, but again that is the exception to the rule. Not everyone was as diligent as you were to stay on top of your grades or to go to work. Which I think is great don't get me wrong. But it isn't the people who aren't going that get affected, it is the people who need to go but can't cause they are closed!
  11. Happy Birthday! Beers on me!, Oh wait glad I don't live near you guys
  12. This is the kind of crap I am talking about, while Indianapolis is getting ready to take one day off after the super bowl, a man like this is chaining his son to a pole. O.o;;
  13. Although I agree football has become a national pastime, it should not be an excuse to shut down school and call in sick for work. This affects many people, the "joe the plumber" who may have needed that one shift but can't cause his employer decided to get drunk and not open shop the next morning. Oh darn he missed his house payment now and has to foreclose. And his kids now have to move again out of district. These stories are a dime a dozen people and we are continuing to exploit these type of situations in our downed economy. It is just not logical and irresponsible. And to close school for the opening of deer season? Are you kidding me? Don't get me wrong I love deer hunting just as much as the next guy, but to affect youth in this fashion, just boggles my mind. This is why the U.S. is still behind in education compared to other countries. Because we do crap like this. And being originally from the East Coast I think East Coast education is far better than anything out here in California. And I totally agree with you quanjig, how do you hire people like this? Assuming the employer is encouraging this as well. - BLee
