  1. A fraternity brother of mine would eat them uncooked!!! He'd sprinkle a bit of the seasoning on a corner of it and munch away. Needless to say he was one of the crazier guys in the fraternity! That makes you crazy? I did that all the time! I got a few of my fraternity brothers doing it too . I also cooked them up and tossed them with olive oil balsamic vinegar and some Italian seasoning it made a delicious meal. Also if you haven't tried cooking an egg into the oriental to make an egg dropish soup then you dint do college right ;D
  2. I agree with Dan the Potomac is the best fishing ive found around here so far.
  3. Absolutely - tell him to just throw them into an empty soda can. The moisture puts them out and it makes a very convenient carry source.
  4. We took 3 little girls out fishing while we were at the lake and rigged them up with worms on small hooks. I had a rooster tail that was too big for them but I shot it out and they would follow it back to the boat and then head for the worm. It was pretty effective and we got to get 3 little kids out fishing for the first time .
  5. Welcome! Lots of good info on the site you will find yourself moving in as I have before long .
  6. Back to your lb question. I'm running 12 lb and it casts beautifully and holds strong. I would get a medium rod fast. This should be perfect so long as your not planning on tossing it into the lilly pads. If you are planning on lilies I would put on braided line and get a MH rod. Good luck its a nice reel Check out bass pro shops they have a citica with a new casting rod combo for about 180 I believe.
  7. Channel catfish
  8. Congrats! Pretty looking cat
  9. Oh yeah wasn't saying you were. But its always nice to get some new fishing partners. I have trouble getting my friend out enough for my taste . I'm still convinced that there must be fish to catch at Accotink if you rent a boat and can actually access when I see them jumping - but that's just the optimist in me.

Congrats man! Hope you have a great honeymoon and an even better marriage
  11. Oh nice and close! Ill have to check it out. Thanks for the info Dan.
  12. Where is Walney pond I have never even heard of it. I'm trying to look it up but no luck.
  13. Bah sorry I would help you if I could but my buddies canoe is two person and not good for anything else. *we tried with a couple of girls never been more afraid in my life* The next time I go bank fishing though ill let you know/ if you want to go to lake Accotink and experience the awful fishing with me I will rent a boat I am looking for a partner for an all day fishing trip.
  14. My friend and I take out a canoe which is a bit different situation. But we certainly take a cooler and have a few while out there. We don't get loud though - that being said we sometimes do catch a buzz buts its normally towards about 2am when no ones out there and we are really just chatting and catching up and fishing has wound down for the evening. We also never leave far from shore and our dock if that's the case. *Also important to note we walk from where we put the canoe to his house so no we are not driving under the influence* -Edit: Also as a side note we have no motor we only have oars
  15. Sounds to me like it would be excellent fishing. Get your rod and reel and go go go!
  16. Beautiful catches! What kind of line where you all using? Those are some big fish
  17. x2 x3 x6 I must agree this is my first bait caster and its absolutely wonderful. It's easy to learn on and casts very far. Additionally if you read up on everyone who has owned a citica they last forever. I would highly recommend it if you can afford it as a fantastic starting reel.
  18. It's Mount Vernon about 20 minutes south of Fairfax. My buddy belongs to a club there so we just launch his canoe out of there typically a couple of times a week if we can manage it. - Pretty sure there is not 400 acres free anywhere near there sooo doubt its near his place .
  19. Aww well at least you had a fun time. Keep at it that tackle investment will pay off soon - it will make the first one better too
  20. X2 on the Citica I know this is a $25 more then your upper end but this is what I got for my first setup and I am 100% in love with it. I spent weeks researching here and this seems to be a very nice setup that should last me a VERY long time. If you watch the flea market on the forum you can get this setup with another rod for probably 150 without a huge sweat if you have the patience. -Oh and this is a bait caster setup not sure if that's what your looking for but they are really awesome when you get used to them. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_102965_100003001_100000000_100003000_100-3-1 good luck
  21. Yeaahh I know which house your talking about its huge. You go out there often? I think we are heading back out Friday to try some frogs in the lillypads - we will see what happens.
  22. Pretty sure I know which one your talking about yeah - we go out that way a fair bit so ill make sure I pick it out directly next time. Why? - By Mount Vernon side you mean if coming from Dogue creek on the left right? Not the army base side because that's all trees with a few duck blinds hah.
  23. Right out of Dogue creek. It was amazing fishing we found a spot where everywhere around was just minnows jumping well worth trying out if any of you all have access to a boat near there. Just right in between the seaweed lines on the army base side.
  24. Me and my buddy went out last night onto the Potomac and had good luck with a white chatter bait and a yellow and blaze orange spinner bait. The highlight of the trip was certainly when my friend found out his "log" was actually a catfish Here's a few of the ones that came in.
  25. Well from everything ive read and found out from other fishermen, 1/4 oz white spin baits with white skirts and frogs are very effective. They stay in brush just like bass so if you start fishing the lillypads in the Potomac you should find some. They hit on everything a bass does though.
