  1. What do you mean by sinking factor? Braid does not float per say. It's light but sinks once the surface tension is broken.
  2. I pay the few extra bucks for a citica or a tatula on sale. Between the original two each had pluses and minuses. I don't think either is head and shoulders above the other.
  3. Try this or pm me and I'll give you some Rod building sites to ck. http://www.tackleworks.org/ I'd be glad to help you out but shipping would be about $20 each way. Let me know how you make out.
  4. Mono, co-poly and braid will all catch fish with regularity. Each has pluses and minuses and requires its own technique. Only hands on experience can teach you your personal preference. All we can do is share opinions. I like Catts idea of focusing on one at a time.
  5. This the probably the most competitive price point in casting reels. You really can't go wrong among the major brands. It's a matter of preferred features and the deal.
  6. If a bass wants to eat your bait you couldn't pull it away from them if you wanted to. If you're getting short strikes changing blades, skirt, trailer or retrieve is a good move. A fast action Rod in an appropriate power will launch a bait if needed and still be accurate and provide good hook sets.
  7. Tubes fish well on any Rod you'd fish similar weight jigs, or T rigs in similar cover and depths. I find myself using fewer Med rods and going MH to ML but again that all depends the individual Rod or blank
  8. I can't value it but know there are ambassadeur specific sites and groups. Collectors pay through the nose for the right thing
  9. I mis threaded a casting Rod one time and looked right at and didn't see it. Put it aside and checked next day and sure enough.
  10. New reel $200 annual cleaning $30 x 5 yrs $150 used price $125 Cost of ownership $225 or $45 year. $5/yr saving and a better reel.
  11. There is validity to sensitivity being in the hands but there is most definitely a difference in rods. Less between price points as you near top end but $50 Rod is no match for a $400 one. Not to say the lesser won't catch fish but the experience will be different and some things will go undetected. as for the OP power has no affect on sensitivity in and of itself. Action may have limited affect in certain applications. The single biggest factor sensitivity wise is weight to stiffness ratio hence the rise of high modulus graphite.
  12. Something to keep in mind, the majority of the viewing public are not as "sophisticated" for lack of a better term in their fishing. Some live vicariously thru tv and you tube. I can see those folks being excited by box openings and other silliness that drive numbers. Numbers of eyeballs is what advertising is about and if you can give that and a targeted audience you'll earn.
  13. My guess is it's a computer glitch and you stuff will come Monday.
  14. The current toro s 50 comes in 5.3:1 but Ipt is still 26.
  15. I stand corrected on the braking piece. I forgot the gen 3 got dual braking. You can't go wrong either way.
  16. http://www.abugarcia.com/abugarcia-reels-baitcast-reels-low-profile/abu-garcia-orra-winch-low-profile/1315390.html#q=Orra&start=7
  17. Reels are typically over lubricated and performance improves with the first deep cleaning. My advice is to fish a new reel hard right out of the box to rule out any warrantable issues. Once satisfied, have at it.
  18. The 7 stands for 7:1. Ipt is 28 I think.
  19. The core 50 mg7 gears drop right in. Let me know if you need help.
  20. Contact the seller for their definition of "refurbished".
  21. Maybe you're not on fish. They move seasonally and throughout the day.
  22. The 50 size reels will easily handle those baits. I think their suitability for casting light baits is more of a happy coincidence than intentions for Shimano. The insides are pretty much the same as the 200 just packed into a smaller space.
  23. There are too many lews variations for me to keep track of. The bb1 I commented on is advertised as centrifugal braking. The pic there is dual brake. By same platform I mean that the internals are nearly identical and many shared parts and tooling. They're both fine reels. Pick the one that appeals to you and fish with confidence .
