Which Reel?
The E didn't either.

President Torture Test Results
I can't believe this thread isn't lit up with offers to buy that indestructible reel! Kidding aside, in future reviews, you may consider heavier normal use as your base line rather than how well something holds up to short term abuse. Ex: flip the bail open and closed 1000 times, put a slow motor on the crank for an extended period, stuff like that.

Which Reel?
The casting performance between the citica and curado of the same series is small. The basic design is the same with the Curado just a little more refined.

Going To Try Braid On My Spinning Reel Again. Suggestions Please.
A degree of line twist come with the territory of spinning tackle but it can be all but eliminated by using a line treatment, using swivels where appropriate, always closing the bail by hand and making sure to put tension on the line before retrieving and last but not least pay attention to the line roller and see taht it is serviced regularly. Troll out whatever twist accumulates during the day and you'll have a much easier time with mono lines. Braid makes life even easier, though nothing is perfect and the ones mentioned are all good.

Wally Freakin World!
I've gotten stuff that obviously either fell off the shelf into that box or was thrown in by other shoppers. If stuff from the clearance box rings up full price, tell the cashier and more often than not they'll discount the item. Also, the Kenami plastics are also from Yamamoto and work just as well for me as the Senko.

Which Reel?
The Revo s and Citica are comparable reels and both are good quality. Full spool shaft and centrifugal brakes. The Revo comes with a crankshaft bearing as opposed the the bushing on the Citica which is a common upgrade I'm asked to do. As for the performance gain of the upgrade, it's up tp the individual. It doesn't affect casting at all but makes the retrieve slightly smoother. The stock drag is better in the Revo but the Shimano is perfectly acceptable and both are upgradeable to Carbontex for <$10. Between these two I'd go with whatever I found the best deal on.

New Guy From Nj/pa
Devin, welcome aboard! We still gotta hook up for some fishing. I have a NJ license as well, along with PA, NY and Ct ($$$$)lol

Smell Knot On Offset Hook
I've started testing snells on offset worm hooks. Just from looking at them I suspect a straight pull on the shank might improve hook ups but the jury is still out.

Problem With Graphite Reels On Suspended Reel Seats
All rod blanks eventually flex down into the handle and this is more noticeable with the split reel seats. There's no cause for alarm. The President is a great bang for the buck in spinning reels.

Revo Stx
I'll go through the whole reel, clean/lube/repair for $16.20 ($18-10%) plus parts and shipping. PM, email or call if you have any questions. Mike

How To Start Your Own Club??
I'd say contact BASS. I'm sure they'll have lots of insight whether you end up affiliated or not. There is a fair amount of legal stuff - liability, accouting, tax status etc.

A 6'6" Spinning Rod Or A 7'
This comes down to personal preference. A longer rod will cast a little further with all else being equal but accuracy trumps distance 90% of the time IMO. 7' is my default rod length and then go longer or shorter for certain applications. Basically shorter for tip down (jerk bait, topwater) and close casting (spinnerbait) and longer for casting distance (deep cranks) and moving line quickly (flipping).

Revo Stx
The brake design on the Curado is very user friendly verging on "set it and forget it". The STX dual braking requires a little more adjustment when changing baits but once that's done they're a smooth and reliable reel. The cast control issue is worth looking into before writing off the reel but if the Revo just isn't for you, you'll have no problem moving it.

Lamiglas Sr 765R 7'6" Med Hvy Fiberglass Cranking
My cranking stick is a custom built on the 765 blank. It throws deep cranks and traps a mile. this is about the only technique where I put a premium on casting distance. It lets the crank run at max depth a little longer. Like the 705, it's sensitive enough to feel the thump of the bait and what it's doing and has a ton of back bone.

Which Small Baitcaster?
The 50 size Curado is built just as well as the 200. They'll hold up to heavier use but really shine when throwing baits on the lighter end of baitcasting. The Core 50 gears will fit if you want a 7:1 but the 6.4:1 will work.

Revo Stx
Check the schemaitc and make sure all the shims are in place in the cap. From the sounds of it, it's definetely not right.

Lew's Reel Repair
This sounds like a case of dealing with a "parts installer" rather than a true mechanic or technician. Unacceptable either way. If you're willing to push it up the ladder I wouldn't be surprised if you can get a replacement reel.

Intro From Pennsylvania
Welcome from a fellow PA angler. The upper Susky is on my hit list as well, but I live right on the Delaware so it's hard to leave for another river.

Reels, Reels And More Reels!
The Calais is refined and smooth but heavy. I much prefer the Core myself. I have a Ci4 Stradic that I like very much. The Stella and Certate both feel great but are very pricey.

Hello From New York
Welcome! I'm from Central NY originally, there's lots of good water around. Give a shout if I can point you toward some.

Hello From New Jersey
Welcome Nick. Jersey has some good water, a lot of it in NW Jersey right across the Delaware from me.

Respooling
If the filler spool is mounted on a spindle the line should come off the top to spool a baitcaster and off the bottom to spool a spinner. If spooling a spinner with the filler on the floor the coils coming off the filler should be going in the same direction they are being wrapped onto the reel spool. If the line is twisting flip the filler over.

Once you crack the $100 price point it's almost impossible to go wrong. It boils down to preference and personal experience.

New To Bait Casters Please Help!!!
Fluorocarbon lines sink so some people avoid them for top water. You'll go through some line in the beginning so keep it simple and affordable. Trilene XT or Big Game mono in 17# will get you started. In the meantime you can read the thousands of posts about line choice.

Reels, Reels And More Reels!
The Core is a great high end reel. I wish the pricepoint gap between the Core and Chronarch wasn't so big. I think the Steez being so out of site allows Shimano to get the higher price for the Core.
