  1. x3 on the flipping stick. The extra length will add casting distance and the power will come in handy hauling them out.
  2. That's what I thought. The face piece should unscew so you can see the line. It should be about 1/8 inch below full. If so, reassemble and tie the of the line off on a tree or similar object. Walk off 100 feet of line. point the rod at the tie off and pull back to stretch the line and hold it for a few minutes. Dampen a rag with WD-40 or similar silicone and pinch the line to coat it and keep tension as you reel the line back on. This should get you going again.
  3. The Curado is a full ounce lighter, The Patriarch has dual braking and comes in 7:1. Which is more important to you? I don't think you'd be disappointed with either one. FWIW I just bought one of the E7s myself
  4. More detailed description of your reel will help us diagnose. I'm sre it's an easy fix. Regardless, dipping any reel under water is the last thing you want to do. Any benefit is temporary and masking the real issue. Under-spooling on a spin-cast reel can cause what you describe.
  5. That's nothing. When we had our lube oil distributorship, potential customers would dip their fingers into two different brands of motor oil and rub their fingers together and tell you which one was more slippery. No sense in trying to discuss crude quality, additives, quality control... after that.
  6. Make sure the threads on the shaft and case are clean. They're pretty fine and it doesn't take much to gum them up. I don't get on them with a screw driver so I can access the spool without a tool on the water. Also make sure the side plate is seated well so that the shaft lines up and can screw in easily. If you need any more help PM, Email or give me a call.
  7. I'll second this recommendation adding that you can go ML/XF especially if you're throwing a lot of stuff 1/4 & 1/8 oz
  8. Wdy.. Your reel will ship tomorrow. I think you'll be pleased. I'm going to flush and oil the stock bearings as well so you'll have them if needed. Thanks, Mike
  9. Beware of those You-Tube videos. Those are made with dry bearings and zero spool tension, nothing like you would experience in real life fishing. A deep cleaning and proper lube will do wonders even for a new reel. The solid spool shaft design used in the Curados also makes them a candidate for Super Tuning. The Carbontex drag is the real deal and very affordable. I recommend them for most any reel.
  10. Going by the blank specs, I'd expect the glass model to better for the deepest running big cranks. The longer length should add casting distance and the action a little more forgiving to help keep you hooked up. My deep cranking rod is custom built on glass blank from Lamiglas.
  11. Welcome, your right this is an awsome site!
  12. That's a nice design and clean finish. Good job!
  13. If you're not in a position to purchase or have a new reel provided for you the Curado B's are a bullet proof great casting reel. Still, the reel of choice regardless of model is only one piece of a puzzle that needs to be put together to win an event like that.
  14. I agree that's by no means a "throw away" reel. $16.20 (after discount) plus parts and shipping if you'd like to send it in.
  15. The SX has mag brakes so the line a more of a tendency to balloon early on the cast. A little more thumb in the beginning and a nice easy casting stroke should keep you out of trouble. Just prctice and pay extra attention at first and adjust according to what you're experiencing. It's a little like changing from one car to another, the acceleration and braking feel different and take getting used to. As long as you can drive, you'll be fine.
  16. Rampage was classy in his loss, no excuses. He's funny as hell too. Jones' physical attributes make him a handful for the average 205er. I think that's a much bigger advantage than his actual skills which are obviously substantial still. I have a feeling Jones will be around for a while.
  17. A slightly underspooled Curado is very manageable while still casting well. Switching to Revos requires an adjustment for sure but they're a great reel once you get it down. The Winch is probably more "Curado Like" having a one piece spool shaft and centrifugal brakes
  18. I usually throw flukes on spinning tackle. 7' but in Med/XF. I use a "popping" blank which has a fast action but soft tip.
  19. There's nothing wrong with having a taste for the finer things in life, but test driving a Mercedes doesn't suddenly make a Bonneville junk.
  20. How far did you have to look to find a stubborn woman?
  21. Dude, if you told me two weeks ago I'd be kicken myself in the a__ for paying $119 for a 201e7 I'd have laughed at you.lol Great find!
  22. The Curado 50 profile is probably closer to that of a Premier. They excel at throwing light baits due to the light spool. That clearance price is an awsome deal. I just got a 201E for myself. I go with spinning tackle for lighter stuff. The Curado might be a little more refined but over all performance is great with both reels. As for the Revo that's acting up, send it in if you want and I'll get it going again. If you want to DIY email me some inf and I'll try to hepl you out.
  23. This is the best way I've found. Some people don't like the way cork feels with U40. Personally, I can see the difference but it's pretty slight.
  24. 30# (8lb mono equiv) would probably make a better presentation with light baits and still be manageable on the baitcaster.
  25. Mono backing / Power Pro main line / Fluoro leader where called for
