I've owned gen 1 premiers and a sx, and fished with the gen 1 and 2 stx's and a gen 2 mgx. My favorite reels are the gen 2 premiers which I own 5 of and currently use. I agree with Jeb2 as if were to buy a new reel it would be the gen 2 premier. As far as the boat rash, can't help you there and it's mine only beef against the Revo line, But I'll take preformance over cosmetics any day.

X 2 for the Gamma. Everyone has their opinion and their favorite, but give Gamma a try, I think you'll like it. I've tried the Yozuri Ultrasoft on spinning and it's OK but it has some memory and I prefer the Gamma.

I am quite familar with the g loomis and St Croix rods as I have 6 of each. I have both IMX and GLX in the G loomis line and all my ST Croix are Legend Tournament Bass except for one Avid. For a light jig rod I have the WPJR821S GLX, like it, and highly recommend it as a light jig rod. The amount of backbone in a light power rod is surprising. I also had the 6'3'' GLX rod but prefer the longer rod. My vote goes to G loomis but St Croix makes a great rod too.
