Anyone thrown one of these with success?
they are fish catchers.. I have bought a lot of ebay because they are getting really hard to find. I dont fish deep cranks a lot here in FL but there are some man made lakes I fish that I do fish deep cranks and this lure is one of very few I throw! they get bit A LOT..

Rigging a Rage Tail Sapce Monkey
on a Owner 5/0 wide gap plus hook and a Tru-tungsten 1/8 to 1/4oz screw in weight.. I pitch this bait a lot and have caught a lot of really good fish on them.

rage tail toad or zoom horny toad
Thats dead on!! Rage tail Lobsters and craws work like crazy on top!!! the toad does its job great and when you need a tornado on top throw the shad! I have caught tons of fish on them all on top..

The Secret of the Popper...
Those are all OUTSTANDING poppers My all time FAV's are the One's Bug and the Megabass Pop-X mostly I fish Pop pop pop pause...pop pop pop pause.. that will catch fish most times here in FL.. I love popper fishing I have caught countless fish on poppers and 8 over 10# on them.. 100's in the 5-7LB range... and won lots and lots of cash in tourneys thanks to mainly Pop-X's and Ones bug's. Subtle pops with a harder one every now and then will draw strikes.. Poppers catch LOTS of fish and catch them year round.. Overcast days early morning and late evening are prime time Popper times!

Kistler Z-bone
Matt Davis (Otterods) Is the best builder that ive ever worked with! I have 4 rods from him and they are tee totally stellar in everyway and the rods are beautiful! Another builder that I have 6 rods from is Sword rods..Sebatian Wehr makes the best sick looking rods money can buy and will put your thoughts in to every inch of the rod!!! I say Matt is the best builder and I say that because he builds amazing rods and dont make you wait forever to get them.. Sword rods make wicked sweet rods but they come at a price and thats wait times.. prices are inline with all other highend rod builders but both of these dudes will build you a rod that you wont believe when you open it. I own a Z-Bone and it is a sweet rod VERY VERY strong and VERY sensitive.. I wouldnt buy another.. I bought it just because I always have to try out the new stuff.. I dont fish the Z-bone I just dont have room on the boat for something that isnt Daiwa, Megabass, Evergreen or a true Custom build... But all in all its a nice rod that anyone would like.. for the money they cost a small custom builder and build you a much better looking rod that will preform as good or better. If you do go with the Z-Bone you HAVE to get the LE blank. [edit]website link removed[/edit] theres some of Swords work. If you buy from him Tell him Sam sent you.

St. Croix Mojo feedback
I agree with this.. I buy lower mid range rods for my boat guest to use.. I bought some Quantum Super lites for like 60 dollars each from Cabelas with the Cabelas club visa discount for guest to use and to give to my dad the rods are SICK at that price... I also bought some Quantum Energy PT for 40 dollars from a local tackle shop as guest rods and I gotta say they are nice rods and FAR out preform Mojos.. My nephew has a Mojo top water casting rod and a worm stick and even with braid they arent very sensitive the PT stick is more sensitive with mono then the mojo with braid and im not kidding and far better balanced then the worm rod and there the same action... the mojo top water rod is pretty light and balanced well but not the worm rod.. you can get the PT rods for a really good price on Ebay and close outs at your major stores.. or grab a super lite from Cabelas for cheap and have a rod that will FAR out preform any you said and at the sale price be cheaper... those rods at 80 bucks are a steal... the used to be 200 and to me they arent a 200 dollar rod... you can get a zillion rod at 200 and its FAR FAR better... but that is a good 150 dollar rod and you can get for 80 and its AMAZING at that price.

I agree with this.. and two of mine will end up with TD-Z Type R's on the or maybe one with a Steez and one with a R IDK yet... I said the Zillion because of the Price range of what he was talking about in reels.... Im sure my Steez will feel really good on the rod! I will let you know and post some pics so you can see how it sets on it

Baitcaster: round or more aerodynamic shape?
About 85% Of my reels are Daiwa Low profile's the other 15% is Daiwa Millionaire 103's M ITO's and other Limited edition Millionaires on the 103 frame and 2 Ryoga 1016's.. Low profile reels are my fav however I do really love my round reels theres just something about the way a small framed round reel sits in your palm.. I have fished with Conquest 50 and I only fish Daiwa but d**n that reel felt nice in the hand and preformed. and dont let anyone tell you round reels cant cast the really light baits or cast as far as your low pro reels... thats bull Round reels can be rockets and my M-itos and Millionaire lights and Bay Specials can really get down low they will cast with my Steez's all day long with the right rod, line and maybe a bearing upgrade Daiwa Gold bearings are very very good tho. depending on what your doing the SOL might not hold enough line.. I love all my Different types of Alphas's (same frame as the SOL) they are awesome casters and just disappear in your hand and feel so good to palm because there so tiny. the Luna will not handle light lures even close to the sol but they will be a great casting reel with ide say 3/8oz or more of weight. The Luna will make you a better all around reel if you have only one BC reel it can handle more lures then the sol.. those reels are totally different not just in shape... To give you an idea you would not want to go out and fish a DD22 crank on the SOL but the luna would handle it really well... you wouldnt want to fish a weightless worm on the luna but the SOL will throw it a mile... the SOL is a light lure light line type of reel... the Luna is a tank of a reel that can crank in and cast large lures and not feel like your fighting a boat when throwing hard pulling lures like big blades or deep cranks. I know this post is long lol but Im just trying to tell you what the real differences are and not just how the reel looks/feels. I have a Luna 253 and the reel is smooth and cast really well.. I fish 22# Sunline Shooter FC on it for throwing big baits...It holds like 110-120 yards of that line and its just a tank of a reel.. so think about what you will be doing with the reel and that will tell you what type of reel to buy... The SOL is a sweet reel and My Luna is nice to.. A lot of people on this site really loves SOL's and for good reason.

ardent Denny Brauer flip/pitch reel
Drag is I believe set at the factory at 28#.. its locked down lol lots and lots of drag...This reel doesnt give the fish a chance. I fish mine on a Steez 8' Compile-X flipping stick and 70# Daiwa braid. one of these will be sitting on my NRX 854C Im waiting for. two non Daiwa reels on the boat for me? lmao kinda feels odd typing that. the way this reel feels in hand I believe its gonna be very comfortable on that NRX reel seat. I just REALLY hope braid isnt as loud with the hybrid guide setup on the NRX as it is one GLX's we will see I should have them monday.

NRX with wildcard warranty and Free Costa 580 on layaway! now to choose reel and line :)
Go with a Zillion! it will look sharp on that rod and feel very nice! Ive got them on the way done paid for just waiting on my dealer to get them! should be here monday I bought a 803C, 854C and the 893C like you are getting yesterday. I should have mine on Monday I will take some pics with some TD-Z's and Zillions on them and post them on this page so you can see how nice there gonna sit on it! My dealer had none in stock for the release yesterday and I havent got to touch one.. he said his shipment will be in monday but IDK and I really want to touch the rod lol

ardent Denny Brauer flip/pitch reel
I fish NOTHING but Daiwa... however this is the only Non Daiwa on the boat... he is right this real is awesome... If you love to pitch then you need this reel. It does its job better then anything else ive used for pitching. I have mine mounted on a Steez compile-X 8' flipping rod.. I find my self picking it up more then I do my Steez Compile-X 8'/TD-Z type R setup.. intill I owned this reel I would have said nothing else pitches as good as a Type R but this reel does and even better... just wish it was lighter.

Buying first reel: Stradic ci4 overkill?
Gammys are Great hooks... I ONLY Fish Owner hooks tho.. a lot of people will agree with me about Owner hooks being the best hook you can buy...they cost more but they stick easy and hold better IMHO then ANY other hooks... Trokar is a joke... Sharp yes (Sharper then Owners I cant tell) tips roll over on everything but the Flipping hook. FISH OWNERS!

Buying first reel: Stradic ci4 overkill?
I totally Disagree with this.. If you can afford the C4I/Avid combo then go for it... having a mid higher end setup in the hand is great for a nub... you will have a high quality setup that fishes well and provides pride of ownership.. If it was me I would get a Daiwa Fuego A new off Ebay for the same price. (Im a HARD core Daiwa Dude.) Go with the Avid as the rod.. you will enjoy it much better then the other...just so you know The Dicks are offering 20% off St. Croix At the Jax FL store It may be nation wide I dont know? But get and enjoy the best outfit you can afford.. like one fella said dont skimp on the rod to afford the reel tho... The C4I and a Avid will make you smile.. Even if it is a Shimano.

Good For a Pitching Stick?
I agree its a good rod thats pretty cheap! fairly light and fairly sensitivity is about AVG. they are very tough rods that you can really lean on and not worry about a break. with a 8+ oz reel balance is not bad....I have 2 of the 7'6 L&T rigged with Zillion PE (That I use for when I need a rod that I dont care about breaking if it happens.. I dont want to break any of my Compile-X's lol) and the other has a Zillion 7.1 on it.... its a rod that I let fishing guest use if they dont have a flipping stick... But IMHO The Daiwa S rod flipping stick is a very nice flipping stick its even cheaper then the L&T. I have two of them... I like them a lot they fish well and with a 3/8 to 3/4oz the tip loads up very well! the rod is more Sensitive then the L&T rod (The tip is a little faster on the S then it is on the L&T) Im shooting praise at these rods because they are IMPRESSIVE at there price points. this is coming from someone that fishes really only JDM and a few USDM Daiwa Steez rods, Megabass rods and Evergreen rods.. so I can really give you insight on these rods because I own both and also own Elite equipment so I can tell you what quality is! Plus the Daiwa S rods have a SUPER comfortable reel seat! One of mine has a TD-X 103 freshwater special and the other has a M-Ito 103 on it. I use them when Im fishing lakes that are known for breaking rods while trying to get fish out of cover I wont fish my super high end rods, so thats what these are for and a couple others... simply said they are fine rods for the coin! I think you will like the S model better!

Line Choice?
I agree with the Sunline Shooter but in 15 or 17. this is the best FC period... It doesnt get any better and the stuff is as sensitive as braid (Well pretty close to braid.) its has a low Dia. its super limp, knots tie well with it.. handles abrasion very well. you will love it! its not cheap but when you want the best then use Sunline Shooter or Sniper... Megabass Dragon Call is great to, handles abrasion a little better but is a little stiffer still a awesome handling line tho!

G.LOOMIS XPEDITOR SERVICE
ive got 2 broken loomis GLX's that I have had for about a year lol just never got around to sending them in im really glad I seen this as I just did the replacement... so I will have my new ones shortly and only cost 100 bucks.. Im not a loomis fan and well be selling these two as soon as they get here. They made a killing in more rod sells because of that program and then once they sold god only knows how many rods because people thinking they was gonna have that program protecting them and then Shimano bailed on yall! thats why I ONLY fish Daiwa I always know what to expect! can you say time to buy stock in Daiwa!?!? their sales just increased a LOT!

Loosing fish :(
I agree its the drag and probably rod control to causing lost fish. however thats not a good idea to tighten the drag to where you can bealy pull it off by hand.... drags are there for a reason... if you have 6# line ide set the drag around 2# I set drag to 1/3 break test... some people say set it 1/4 break test.. on lighter line you will loose fish to break offs if you tighten the drag to much... bass arent that hard pulling of a fish but a 5+ can break 12# line if you dont have the drag set.. when I see a fish is gonna jump I shove the rod tip in the water and try to hold her down you will loose most of the ones your gonna loose while there in the air. set your drag right and learn to control the fish.. ide say I land close to 90% they surely dont come unbuttoned a lot but from time to time you will loose them.. on big heavy swim baits i loose more but thats to be expected on big swim baits ide say i land about 80% of the ones I hook.

Good deal on rod????

Daiwa Pixy
If thats what you wanted a reel to do then you bought the reel that will do it. On the right rod you will be able to cast 1/16th oz jigs with ease. If I was you I would spool on some 6-10# nice supple FC or Copoly and go have fun with it! The stock drag is very light but enough that you can handle fish fairly well.. A 5+# fish will take a little longer to land then normal but it makes it more fun. If it was mine I would do a Carbontex drag upgrade and thats really all you have to do.. I own 6 Pixillas and 2 Stock Pixys (The stock ones have CarbonTex drags and TG Rocket ABEC7 bearings on the spool but thats it.) if you dont plan on going less then 1/16th oz lures on the reel then I wouldnt worry about upgrading bearings. I have 6# P-line CX on one of the stock ones (Its a Airy red) and that line was made for the Pixy lol it is awesome on that reel its super thin and super limp in 6 and 8# and would be the line id'e recommend for you to spool it with! like Raul said on the Stock drag its light and when you try to get more out of it then you are asking for bad shuttering so just deal with the light drag or go Carbontex its not hard to upgrade I did all mine myself and never had much trouble so if you want to do it PM me and you can call me and ill talk you through it if you are having trouble! you will like the reel a lot more with a Carbontex drag I promise you. what rod are you putting it on??!!??!??

Daiwa Pixy
thats a really good deal! if you use the Pixy for what it was intended for (Light line light lure's) you will fall in love with it! they are amazing little machines. Pixys can be made to do other things with the right mods.. I myself have a Pixy on a flipping stick and it does its job great but its been mod'ed and the drag is now a monster! I love my Pixilla's.. but the Pixy stock is a super fine reel that will do things a lot of other reels cant.

Fishing line info wanted???
I agree with this statement. CXX is a really good well priced line(Cept I would go with 12 to 15#). try braid it may be just what you are looking for.

Shimano vs. Abu Garcia
Fish Daiwa and never look back. get you a Daiwa SOL thats in mint condition on ebay for a good price and it will give you all you want and then some. or even better save up a little more and find you a good deal on a TD-Z 103 and you will be in love!

What is the best braided line...
I agree its the only Braid I fish! its hands down the best you can buy but it isnt cheap. if you have the Koinz buy it.. if not then go with PP or Sufix to get a feel for braid and then buy the Daiwa stuff when you got the money laying around. one thing to remember, most braids are close in DIA. to each other.... The Daiwa stuff is FAR FAR FAR thinner per pound test then any of the others...30# Daiwa braid is about as thin as 10# of other braids... thats not kidding it really is SUPER SUPER thin and it holds knots really good the only down fall to it is because its SO THIN its abrasion Resistance is going to be lower then other braids in the same pound test.. but because its so thin you can always go up in pound test to increase dia to trump that problem.
