  1. TT is not comparing a 400 dollar rod to a 80 dollar rod in its score the reviews are with price point in mind. like others have said if you put a vendetta in the 300+ price point it would score as poor. dont for one second tell me that you can pick up your vendetta and then my Ever Green Black raven and tell me the vendetta is even in the same ball park... because simply said it isnt... I have 3 Black ravens and paid between 830 and 920 for the rods... and would buy them again even at 200 dollars more because they are that amazing! the vendetta is probably a fine maybe very fine 80 dollar rod and it may very well compete with and be a better over all rod then any other 80-120 dollar class rod out there IDK ive never touched one... but it cant compete with a rod in the 200+ dollar point... there is a LARGE difference in rod prices and for a reason in 99% of rods you get what you pay for... like i said the vendetta may be a stellar rod at 80 bucks and my steez rods are stellar rods at the 380-650 price points... is really is people not understand the reviews are with price in mind.
  2. I carry 25 bait cast set ups and 1 2508 TD-ITO spinning reel. so 26 total
  3. you can get the 2009 model Revo premier on freebay right now new in box for 120-140 shipped all day long! I fish only Daiwa JDM stuff but when TW had them on sale for 139 bucks I bought one just for the sun glasses lol... I played with it and was pretty suprized the spool is VERY light and starts up easy and fast the braking system is rock solid I never had to turn the mag up past 4 clicks.. and I keep no tension on my spool its as loose as I can get it with out side play.. its limit is 3/16th oz it can cast 3/16ths but not great the reel really comes a live starting around 1/4 and 3/8 and up is where it starts to peak! the reel isnt a pixy for throwing light baits but it is good... it preforms about like a Zillion.... but note it does NOT have that huge Revo drag they talk about... I would guess its around 10-11 pounds? its 10000% not 24 pounds like they talk about... anyhow I sold the reel because only Daiwas have a place on my boat deck and in my display cabinet... I think you would be very pleased with the reel.. it is pretty light to and fairly smooth
  4. that vicious stuff is a joke lol...The Suffix is much thinner then it is... just a little thicker then like berkley 100% and invisX...but its a very sensitive line and it doesnt turn milky!!! also very very low memory on all lines up to 20# and its very supple to! Its the only FC my Dad will fish
  5. ill get some pics up when I get home from work.. it is 17g's
  6. the Suffix 100% FC is pretty sensitive to just slightly high dia. but if you dont mind that then that might be the line for you!
  7. I over nighted the Zillion type R....I could not find any info on the reel other then what TW said... im REALLY mad... I was more then sure that this reel would have a tuned rotor and IT DOES NOT have type R or R+ tuning it has tuning like the I'ZE factory HLC spool that tuning is nice but not what I thought... the spool is 2 grams lighter then a stock Zillions and the I'ZE carbon handle (It doesnt say I'ZE on it but its the same handle just unmarked... im gonna keep it as im a big time Daiwa collector and own more less all there JDM limited edition reels and have a huge collection on only Daiwa reels but this is not cool and im kinda happy with it..
  8. if you want a FC that is very sensitive you want Sunline Shooter or Seaguar Tatsu both are VERY high dollar lines but IMHO worth it and thats the only two FC I will fish other then Toray Solaroam Upgrade that I use for cranking. the other two I use for worms/jigs and flukes. I carry 25 setups on my boat I have FC on 6 on them and mono on 2 and braid on the rest. On most of my braid setups I use Daiwa Samurai Braid with Megabass Dragon call FC top shot. if you have never tried top shoting you dont know what your missing.. braid/FC top shot is amazing its the best of both worlds. If you dont mind spending the cash on the lines I just told you then you will be spoiled and not want to fish anything else.
  9. BPS has Daiwa TD-PRO's on sale 1500 and 2000 size are 60 bucks!! they are more less an exceler but have the air bail!!! they can not be beat for that price!!! They are compact and balanced well... I dont fish spinning reels much and when I do I fish a TD-Z Type R+ 2508 and a Steez 2508.. but my dad has 6 of the td pros and he loves them he said they was a deal at there normal price of 120.00 so yeah I think you should pick one up!!
  10. I fish braid on about 50% of my rigs..and FC on most others out of my 25 rigs that have a spot on the boat every week.. only 2 have mono.. I fish mainly Sunline Shooter or Toray Super hard as my FC lines.. My dad bought a spool of this from a local gander mout. on sale for like 11 dollars one if (12#/17#) and one in (14#/20#) it is VERY strong for its Dia. and handles abrasion really good but IMHO this line is ONLY for BC reels (Idont fish spinning reels anyhow) it is very stiff and doesnt cast good at all and tons of memory even when treated with KVD L&L... I do use it on one reel now I got in spooled on a TD-Z Type R/Daiwa Steez Compile-X Flipping Rod 8' Hvy that I use for punching thick mats.. I will like the toughness of the line and hardly ever have to retie and being totally truthful its close to as sensitive as braid when you only have 10-40 feet of line out now of course the more line out the less sensitive it will become but with close range apps it has tons of feel and is tough... I caught a 4LB pickrel on it and the had the space monkey DEEP in his mouth and his teeth was all over the line and it didnt even nick the line up... I retied just because I couldnt believe it but the line felt like it was perfectly in tack! all in all its a great flipping line.... it may be a good deep cranking line to with large heavy crank baits to I cant speak for that tho... I can say its a really good flipping pitching and punching line! I had the 12/17 on a Steez 103H mounted on a Megabass F3 1/2-65GTC Hien Type-S for shallow cranks and it was just far to stiff and tons of memory and was unuseable for that app. it could be a really good mid size swim bait line as well! it has little stretch so it will allow solid hook sets even at the end of a long cast.
  11. Gulp is simply a JOKE!!! come on 20 dollars for a pint bucket of jerk shads and you get about 12? leave them out on the boat deck for 45 mins and they dry up so hard you have to get the wire snips out to cut them off the hook lmao... and good god does it smell bad!
  12. When they first came out I bought a bunch and then went back to my Steez, megabass and evergreen sticks.. and sold off all the ltx's and golds I bought cept for two a 6.9M parabolic and a 7' mh F the 6.9 is an amazing shallow crank rod one of the best ive ever used to tell the truth and the 7 MH I use for buzz frogs in mega slop with 65# braid because If i break it I dont care.. the rods are ok but not what everyone thought they was gonna be I lost so much money on the deal loosing 40-60 dollars a rod on about 25 rods but who cares cant cry over spilling a glass of milk right? if you want a GREAT rod in the 200 dollar range look at the Daiwa Zillions. there MUCH MUCH better rods. but if you need a cranking rod the 6.9 parabolic is a AMAZING rod.
  13. 4.2oz's? I just weighed mine on two different digi scales one read 112 and the other 112 grams I weighed it three times on each scale so im pretty sure 4.2 is a little high... more like 3.957oz's not trying to say anyones wrong just telling the info I just triple checked. Now my Daiwa Zillion TDZL691MHXB weighs 117 grams 4.127oz's and the rods balance out beautiful with a Zillion, TD-Z, Alaphs and the 6.6 med XF is awesome with a pixy
  14. This was my first bait cast reel My dad bought it for me for Xmas along with a REM 700 BDL SS .300 win mag and a Leupold Long range model with the 30MM tube 8-25X Leupold VX-III hell of a gift for a 13 year old! Anyhow im rambling lol... I got the reel in 1995 and it was a pretty cool reel compared to the other stuff back then it casted pretty good and looked cool! a few months later once I learned bait casters I changed over to Daiwas and still to this day fish nothing but Daiwas. that was SOME REALLY REALLY OLD STOCK if you bought it new at BPS.... If you really like that reel Ill go look for mine and if I cant find it ill give it to you. its mint not a scratch on it it was only used like 2 maybe 3 months. if you want it send me a PM and let me know and Ill go look for it and you can pick it up if you are close or ill send it to you. its wasting away and ill never use it again so if someone can get some joy out of it they can have it.
  15. What kinda line do you think I should spool it up with? I was thinking Sunline Super FC Sniper FC in 5LB test or maybe 10 pound braid but I dont want the wind knot problem.. I fish spinning reels VERY little.. so little in fact that 9 out of ten days I will not even pick one up.. I bought this one because I got a great deal on a brand new one 155.00 now thats what I call a super buy. it will be going on a Daiwa Steez Compile-X 6'8" Med Lt/Fast Action STZ-681MLFS.. I have no idea what I will use it for.. maybe super light floating worms I have no idea I just dont use spinning reels but couldnt pass this one up. It will end up as my Crappie rigs chances are.
  16. The HLC spool made a big difference? I have a Zillion HLC and truthfully have never casted it shes just setting in the reel case. TT said there wasnt a noticeable difference in the stock Zillion and HLC so I never used it. but heck if the spool makes a big DIFF. then ill swap spools so my HLC doesnt get boat rash. does it make the Zillion handle light lures better and add casting distance? I put ABE7 Ceramics in every reel I own before they are ever casted and I love the Zillions its just to me the spool is overly deep and weighs to much with line on it. I ended up slightly mod'ing the rotors on my Zillions to a Type R profile and it helped with light lures a good bit but the spools just to heavy. any info would be awesome.. And I totally agree with Bronzefly Ide I love my Steez rods and I like my Steez reels but I would take my TD-Z's over a steez any day. IMHO there is not a better reel ever made. the 103's would be your best all around of the TD-Z's but like Raul said the TD-Z 105 Will make the Zillion and pretty much any reel cry when it comes to light baits its only 2nd to a Daiwa Pixy. Get you a TD-Z thats in nice condition and you will be hooked. Danny B.
  17. Heres a TD-Z Type R thats really nice!! the Type R is my fav off all...its got the same tuning as a TD-ITO and you wont believe how GREAT they cast and how light they are.... its 286.00 and if it dont get sold pretty soon it will be mine lol.. buy it so i dont have too. http://www.ichibantackle.com/showproductdetail.asp?productid=2198&name=TEAM%20DAIWA-Z%20103H%20/%20103HL%20TYPE-R%20[uSED]&manufacturename=DAIWA%20(TEAM%20DAIWA
  18. Ebay is a good place to look but the best place to buy from is http://www.ichibantackle.com/showmanufacturer.asp?manufactureid=92&name=DAIWA%20(TEAM%20DAIWA) I have bought about 12 TD-Z, 5 TD-ITO's, 4 Pixys and a few presso's from them they are a GREAT dealer and ship fast! A++++++ service. Ive also bought many ZPI MG spools from them as well.
  19. Its a great buzzbait IMHO
  20. I have a older PQ1000XPS round reel and it is 5.1... it makes a hella slop reel.. I used to use my AE74 for that but started using it because I dont care about that reel.
  21. To me the TD-Z 105 is simply the best reel ever made... I do love my pixys tho.. I own Zillions and TD-Z's and each have its place.. light lures=TD-Z and the zillion= heavier lures. pretty much the TD-Z's are a Lambo and the Zillions are a tank.
  22. Agreed other then the reel seat part!!! I love the Seat!
  23. I fish some TD-Z's on two of them a 6.9MHXB and a 6.6MXB and the XF rods are SUPER fast and I love them. I believe they are some of if not the best rod in that price range. I agree with there isnt a zillion rod made that would be a real good crank rod.. the 6.9MHXB is a VERY VERY powerful rod with a VERY VERY VERY fast action... but a truely sensitive stick..that can handle all kinds of lures that need a powerful rod... I use it as a back up flipping rod and a smaller swim bait rod... and the reel seat is awesome one of the most comfortable ive ever fished other then the air seat on my Steez rods. they are nice and light and you will love the Air foam grips.. the only thing ide say thats bad is that on the 6.9MHXB it is a little tip heavy with a light reel such as a TD-Z its balanced pretty well with a Zillion tho still a tad tip heavy even with the Zillion but not to bad.
  24. wow this is different then other forums normally people want opinions.. ill make sure I dont comment off subject anymore.
  25. make the choice easier and end up with a much better reel..... Go on Ebay and find you a nice TD-Z 103 or 105 and have the best reel ever made hands down.
