Wanting a New Dobyns Rod
most of my rods are JDM Daiwa Steez, Megabass and Evergreen sticks... I got a Dobyns Extreme DX-784-C-ML jig rod and I really like it. I want to get a worm rod to because I have a Alphas R that needs a new stick I have never held or seen any other Dybons then the jig rod I own I only own it because I got it in a trade (I wanted the reel only the guy was selling but he wouldnt break it up so I had to buy the rod to and im glad I did.) On Dybons rods is Fast taper a true fast taper or slower then lets say what Loomis calls fast? is theres 3 power what Loomis calls a 4 power? To the guys that own the extreme rods what do you think makes a better T/rig rod? I'm looking at the DX 703C or DX 704C Is the 704 a broom stick? or a true Heavy action rod? would you say the 703 is a ture 3 power rod or softer then most 3 power rods? if the 3 power is like a Loomis 4 power and the 4 power is like a Loomis 5 power then I will go with the 3 power.. Are Dobyns rods rated like Loomis rods? or Croix rods? I would go check them my self but the closest dealer is a LONG drive.. I want another Evergreen Black Raven BUT im thinking about buying one of these instead because I have more Black Ravens then I need and I can buy 2 and a half of these for one B/R lol.. one more thing, the guides on the pitching stick look to be really good high quality guides. has anyone had problems with the Guides on them? I havent Im just asking. thanks a million for your time Fellas.

Like to flip?
Two other F/P rigs I use and one of my all time FAV pitching reels!! one is a Loomis BCR855 GLX with a Daiwa TD-X HSDF W/TD-Z 105M spool and the other is a Dobyns DX-784-C-ML (AWESOME rod BTW) and a TD-X HSDF with a ZPI-RC002 spool in it. I have really started to love the Dobyns its a wicked rod and IMHO sensitivity is higher when even the BCR855 GLX. I like it as much as my Daiwa 7'1 Compile-X and thats really saying something.

I flip with a TD-Z Type R, a Zillion PE, Zillion with a TD-Z 100m spool in it and a Pixilla. I have a lot of pitching setups flipping and pitching is my fav tech. and when fishing a tourney most times fill my limit pitching and flipping and catch my kickers flipping and pitching! I feel im at my peak on the water with a jig n rage tail trailer and a flipping stick.

bad news guys
This forum is for fun and learning, not being bashed because you don't type perfect. Its not needed, 95% of people have no problem with poorly wrote posts and reply back about what is being asked. You will always have the people that have to have something to say, just to try and get under someones skin! Its funny and just shows that they are a waste of bandwidth!! I'm not going to sit and type replies like I am being graded! I come on this site and share my views, not hate on people for this and that! It's just stupid to try and make people mad or hurt their feelings just because you want to make pricky replies to what someone wrote!! I'll probably get banned for this but oh well; maybe they should ban the ones that try and bother people and tease people! Have a good one fellas....

So I just bought some Daiwa Samurai...
its very thin...its thinner then any other braid ive seen.. i love it its simply amazing and the best braid on the market and you got a stellar deal! i dont believe its a gross over rating, the stuff is very close to its labeled breaking test. the only thing I will tell you is because its thinner its more prone to abrasion then other braids on same pound test.. but in straight pull tests it hold its own pound test for pound test versus other braids. its just such a well made braid and VERY tightly woven and it makes it thinner I bet theres probably close to the same amount of material in the same pound test daiwa braid as other braids but being its woven so tightly it makes it thinner, I have weighed 100 yards of Daiwa braid and Sufix of the same pound test and the weight was very close even tho the daiwa braid is FAR thinner I used 65# for the test. thats why I say overall breaking test will be close to what the stranded for braid ratings is. ide say your 18# will break in a straight pull test at about 16# and the Daiwa braids shock strength is higher then any other braid ive used and that is a big plus! rocks wreck havoc on Daiwa braid tho because its so thin but a FC leader fixes that. IMHO its the best braid on the market hands down and it is the ONLY braid I fish, sure it cost a lot but I fish a lot of 40 dollar a spool FC lines so when you look at it like that its priced well. when you want the best buy Daiwa's braid it last a long time and will make you smile every time you fish it. Another thing about it.. using braided line will increase sensitivity 10 fold over mono and 5 fold over FC but when you fish Daiwa braid it has SO much more sensitivity then other braids its crazy.. its so much more sensitive then other braids its insane on a good rod Daiwa braid will allow you to feel the line its self shuttering while coming through the water when you reel up the slack when hoping jigs and worms. dont worry about break rating 18# will let you horse fish in with ease just remember rocks tear it up faster then they do other braids, use a leader around rocks lol.

Jig rod question
I agree with using braid to but I would use braid to a FC leader. I use Hollow braid and make a top shot rig with FC leader about 12-14 feet of Megabass Dragon call FC.. Or I use a shorter leader of FC with Daiwa Sumari braid joined VIA a Uni to Uni knot. this is very important if fishing around rocks or timber.

Jig rod question
I would go with a 7+ foot MH stick for a open water light/no cover jig rod. With not going over 1/2oz jigs MH is plenty of rod and its what I would use, I would rather use the lightest power rod I can and still be fully in control of the fish. I like using a slightly lighter rod you will have more feel of what the lure is doing and as im sure you know thats important when fishing jigs. I will sometimes fish a MH rod when flipping and pitching grass lines and scattered grass. one of my FAV jig rods in my Steez 7 foot MH (thats why I own 4 lol). dont feel like you need a Heavy action rod just because you are fishing a lure that most say you need a heavy rod to fish. if you are around cover then sure a H to XH rod will help you land fish I use my 7'1 Steez compile-X and 8' Compile-X only when jigging in heavy cover. the one thing that I will say is that if you are going to use a MH rod for jigs it NEEDS to be 7 feet or more.

Putting heavier line for Lake Fork Trip?
Ive fished fork before and I wouldnt fish no less then 15# mono or FC there.. but what I would do if I was you get you some 50# braid and use a Uni to uni knot and some FC leader... in Fork you need abrasion Resistance and the FC leader will give you that.. if you want a good priced FC that cast well ide go with Berkley 100% in 17#...if you have the funds and can get it and want some awesome FC get some Sunline shooter...IMHO the best FC on the market it handles better then most monos... Sniper is awesome to but local stores probably wont carry it but TW does. the Berkley 100% is a pretty decent FC all around tho... IMHO Braid to FC leader would be your best option.

REEL GREASE and Reel Cleaner
im really big in to hobby grade Radio control cars and trucks and I fly R/C 3D(Aerobatic) Nitro and electric helicopters.. in off road R/C buggy and Truggy races (On clay tracks) are bearings get nasty real quick.. in a 30 min to 1 hour main we will have to pull the seals, clean and relube bearings. I run Acer ABEC 7's in all my car's and helis...they cost a lot for a set but much more durable lighter and more efficient.. to get to the point I clean bearings a lot and the BEST tool to do it with is go to your local hobby shop and buy you a RPM Bearing blaster... it holds the bearing in a sealed unit and use R/C motor cleaner put the spary tube in the hole and blast it... if forces the cleaner through the bearing blowing all dirt and old lube out totally cleaning the bearing and its quick... the tool cost like 8 dollars.. I use a rocket fuel to relube with as I believe its the best oil hands down.

I need a rod under $150
I agree.. the L&T will out fish any of those other rods and is simply a HELL OF A ROD for that price. there is nothing fancy about the blank or guides but just a high quality well built rod that will fish really good for you.. in all truthfulness I fish my L&T Frog rod as much if not more then my Steez froger.. sure its a lot heavy but the L&T I can really lean in to with out fear of breaking it. and with a 8+OZ reel it balances nice and feels fairly light in hand...even tho its a heavier stick the balance nice...I have used the frog rod for punching really really nasty stuff where im scared of breaking my high end rods and with braid its sensitivity is fair and you will have no problem feeling strikes... plus you will love the feel of the reel seat...

Frogs with mono?
Lmao yeah for real man.. dont ever say you buy something use it and resell if you dont like it... or you will be told you cant use the flea market because you are a dealer...lol somethings on this site.
-
My current setup sucks... is this one good?
you can get a MUCH better bass rod then a U/Stick.. if you have to have a ugly at least get a U/S lite. the reel will suit you however you can find 08 model Quantum catalyst for 40-50 bucks new in box on ebay.

Can't Decide Between 2 Rods
100% Carrots are IMHO trash... they fish like a 60.00 rod... no crispness at all... at least the Kistler feels like a mid grade rod... you could aways find you a used Zillion rod at a good price and it beats both 10 fold.

bad news guys
Now this guy said it perfect! nicely spoken Buddy. all the people B!@#H about Grammar. HOWEVER 7 out of 10 people dont use it (And/Or use it poorly) when typing on a forum. I dont but I can and truthfully find no real reason to really on quick post and replies on forums. That was very readable at least most of it was spelled right. And if you cant read that and UNDER STAND IT WITH EASE... Well life must not be easy for you.

Ike's new reel?
I have a Morrum ZX1600 IVCB-4... thats the red one but ofcourse it doesnt have Ikes name on it (thank god!!) Those reels are AWESOME simply AWESOME.. I fish only Daiwa but have a few reels in the reel case from ABU and this is one of them. I have fished it a few times and its a tank and cast like a rocket and is silky smooth.. I payed right around 600 bucks when I got mine more less when they first came out. is it worth 600 not really but to a JDM tackle freak and collector YES it is and thats why I have one. I probably will buy a Morrum ZX1600BJ IVCB-4 (The blue one) when I find a sweet deal on a new or almost new used one to throw in the reel case but I wont pay over 350 for it. they do look sweet and the thing has THE LGHTEST spool ive ever seen! but doesnt handle the light stuff as good as I thought it would even with ABEC9's on the spool.

Deciding on my new combo
I agree with the superlite rod idea I bought 3 of them for guest to use while on my boat... and 2 for my nephew when they was at 109.99 and paid with my Cabelas club Visa and with the C/C Visa it marked them down to 69.99 in cart... now that they are even cheaped if you pay with your Cabelas club visa it may mark them down even more... im gonna try and if it does im buying everyone they got and reselling on Ebay lmao.... those rods are 110% IMPRESSIVE at 70 bucks... truthfully there impressive at 120 or less. and will FAR surpass that Berkley rod... for only a little more coin. one thing tho... If you have large hands and have never fished one that Fuji ACS reel seat you might not like... I have large hands and I like the ACS but know A LOT of ppl that dont. Good god somethings wrong.... I recommended something thats not a Daiwa? whats wrong with that lol. (Oh I know, Im REALLY tinkled at them about this years Icast releases.... no USDM PX68... but who cares I guess it just saved me some coins lol I own 4 JDM models already anyhow.)
-
So nothing from Daiwa?
The Daiwa booth at Icast this year almost made me throw up.... I was betting on the PX68 to become USDM and maybe even the Z2020.... NOTHING... cept some new Steez rods... and BTW the rods looked sweet I gotta have two... Im very disappointed in Daiwa... I fish NOTHING but Daiwa reels and Daiwa, Evergreen and Megabass rods... im very Loyal to Daiwa and really was expecting a new reel or two to the USDM market... oh well maybe next year... as for now back to importing. I still have hope that MAYBE just MAYBE they are delaying the announcement of some USDM releases...just trying to keep some hope alive.

Good Horsing Reel
those are good budget reels but you cant expect the world of them.... want a rock soild reel that cast awesome? get you a used but good condition Daiwa TD-X 100 or 103 on ebay for like 100 dollars
-
Culling my rods
I agree with the statement about we need to know rod stats to tell you. I crank a lot and own two Daiwa Fle-X-Lites in a 7'M and a 7.2 MH I love them and have sold off some Evergreen cranking sticks that I thought I loved once I used the Steez... to me high end Cranking rods are just as important as high end worm and jig sticks... but thats come from someone that cranks about 40% of my time on the water.

First decent spinning reel?
you can pick up a used 2000 or 2500 Daiwa sol in good condition for 100-120 bucks on Ebay or in forums for sale areas... the SOL will out preform any of those reels listed you just have to get a used one to put it in your price range... that reel is solid and fishes like a BMW!! I dont fish spinning reels at all really I have 2 TD-Z R+'s and a Steez but rarely pick them up... but dad LOVES his SOL's and Fuego A's..
