  1. Basser, shoot me Washington Co. area.. I think this maybe closer. Trying to get a few places under my belt and after feeling comfortable, take my daughter out. Im pretty comfortable in a boat and launching a boat. So yes, Washington Co.! I hear so much about Mattawomen, need to check into the permits and I don't mind.. The biggest obstacle is know where to launch and not launch a bass boat.. ------ The Urbana pond - I will check it out in the morning. I do believe you can't drive back to the pond but walk. ----- Waiting on registrations from DNR and title my trailer. -Peter
  2. The little pond is not far from me, I could check it out. Also: I ended up getting another boat... 2001 Tracker Bass Boat, 17' with a 50hp Merc. Really set up well for bass fishing. So, living in Frederick... I need a few places to take her out and hunt for the big ones.. well anyones.. Would like to use the gas motor to see if any kinks need to be worked out. I can always run down to Lake Anna or out to Deep Creek but was looking for some closer launching points. Any help would be great. Thanks Peter ps. My old boat that was destroyed by a freak tornado... my brother is fixing it up in Mass so he can fish. Both our insurances gave us practically nothing.. ya.. it hurts right "there"...
  3. Thanks Guys... Dealing with insurance this week and hoping for the best. Be nice to be fishing in a boat by summers end. Had a lot of plans for the boat with trips, etc. -Peter
  4. worse fishing story ever! Fishing trip planned in VT for smallmouth fishing near Canada.. 6 months in advance. Record lunkers in this lake. Been fishing same weekend for 5yrs. House rented on lake with dock. Brother, Cousin, friends all geared up! Bought a nice 2002 Tracker Pro Crappie that was basically given to me. Saved up, searched for the holy grail of deals and got one. While attaching a NEW minnkota on the front, it's starts to rain.. Then a Tornado hits my brothers house. My boat is ruined - owned less than 6hrs, never got to sit in it or use it. My brother boat is ruined... Tracker 175 About $100k of damage to his house, etc. But we lived through a F3 direct hit tornado. 4 died. Unreal!! Just got done 3 days of cutting trees to help with access at my brothers house. Came home last night 7yr daughter devastated by boat being destroyed but happy I am home.. Life goes on!
  5. Thanks, I guess I just need to get out to the other places on the river and learn it. I figure Washington Co. on up. A hear from time to time guys fishing out of brunswick, Lander, etc. but must be pretty shallow and lots of rocks, big ones too! Could you throw out some ramps so I can look on the map I got? Thanks Peter
  6. Hey Basser, I scored a good deal on a Tracker Pro Crappie 175.. I hear a lot of guys fishing at Dam 4.. Being a lake guy is this area a tough spot to get in/out due to river flow? Any do's/don'ts you could throw my way? I got a topo map and will have depth finders Thanks Peter
  7. What's in Brunswick? the river or a pond? There are warnings up for the potomac today.. big flows.
  8. Thanks all, Sean we should meet up someday. I've heard of that Brownsville pond, fact my wife's coworker went out with her boyfriend there and caught a nice 5lb lg mouth pig... I tried to get the directions but she couldn't remember.. go figure! I scan google maps looking at the small ponds but a lot are on private land. I've heard of a few in Walkersville too! My 7yr old daughter loves to fish.. so it's good to have a partner sometimes. She is off this week and I might try a few ponds if I can find them. Middletown was nice but it was ugly last year. Everything was aqua blue/green stained..even the bluegills.. yuck! WV - where in Sharpsburg? I tried Greenbrier 3x and my daughter caught 1 bass. Foot is getting better, staples out on Wednesday but 2 more weeks on crutches.. then rehab.. Thanks all, Peter
  9. Maybe at some point you could use company? I'm actually sitting home these days mending a broken foot that happen at work.. I work for DCFD and busted it on a house fire. Been a long 2 months so far but hope to get back on the water or banks soon. I'll starting checking things out where you mentioned. At least I can do a drive by.. Hard on crutches to get a good look. Thanks again, I appreciate it. Peter
  10. Thanks Sean, I hit a few places before in a smaller boat/no motor. Did Marburg once and had zero luck.. tough lake. I just see a lot of bass type boats around but unsure where everyone is going. Just like to get a setup again but need to figure where I am going first. I guess I need to study the Upper Potomac, heard so much about it. I got a map but never put my little boat on it. Just need to figure out where to go I guess. Thanks and looking for all the help! Peter
  11. Hi Guys, Read this forum from time to time. Wanting to get back into more bass fishing. I live up in Frederick, MD. Fished the local ponds like Greenbrier, Middletown and some shore fishing off the Potomac. Was interested in getting a 16ft aluminum, side console bass fishing style boat. Not growing up around here, I don't know all the areas. Just looking to get a bass boat or semi v for our area and a few trips up north to PA and New England. From what I read, most of the places in MD are restrictive to electric motor and quite a few in the PA area as well. So my big question, where do you all take your boats with gas motors? The Upper Potomac seems the closest place but I never fished a river system. I grew up on lakes, etc. Just wondering where you guys take your boats? With in a few hours drive from the DC/Region. Thanks Peter
