  1. I have always held my rod up high, no reason behind it though. But this may help i was just watching vandams dvds proven spinnerbait techniques and pitchin to heavy hitters and it seems every time e gets a fish he holds the rod high up. But It could be since he is not fishing a tourny he dosen't really care if they get off.
  2. I would get big game in 12lb it is a decent line and at bass pro you can get over a thousand yards for under $10. And it depends on the person on how fast you learn to use a baitcaster. I always see people saying it takes along time and is hard but i didn't think it was hard at all. But i have a friend who is starting to learn to baitcast and has had to respool 3 times in and around 2 hrs of practise. And to help with your backlashes make a long cast strip off some extra line and put a strip of tape around the spool and the backlash wont be able to go any farther down then the tape, It is a real time and money saver.
  3. I dont know anything about their spawn either but the come up the river by my house and they will hit anything the proper size. but if i fish for them i have the best luck with a inline spinner, usally a panther martin.
  4. I have seen on multiple fishing shows they flip the bass up into the boat. I fish from shore and there are a few spots where it is very troublesome to reach down and lip the bass. I usally fish with a medium avid and a mh extreme and want to know at what size do you think it would be a bad idea to lift the fish with the rod. Thanks
  5. That could of been one of the BPS cull systems. They make one with colored balls and one with colored crankbait things.
  6. The one with the clips seem like a good idea but i haven't seen anybody who says they do and the 2 review on BPS site says they don't hold.
  7. I think it was the right thing to do dropping ike. He is supose to be a professional and he acted like a child. What do you think would happen if tiger pulled a happy gilmore and started throwing clubs after a bad shot. G-man i don't see a reason to drop him it was a mistake and he apolgized for it.
  8. http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.TextId?hvarTextId=30217&hvarDept=100&hvarEvent=&hvarClassCode=11&hvarSubCode=4&hvarTarget=browse I think the best way would be to weigh each fish and then write it down next to its color. Then you just look at the chart and know which one goes back next.

  10. 1 Boyd Duckett 48-10 2 Skeet Reese 48- 4 3 Kevin VanDam 45- 4 4 Terry McWilliams 45- 3 5 Gary Klein 44- 5 6 Kevin Wirth 41- 4 7 Terry Scroggins 39- 9 8 Steve Kennedy 38- 5 9 Jason Quinn 38- 1 10 Dean Rojas 37-13 I wanted to see KVD win it again but Boyd earned it. Heres the full leader board. http://proxy.espn.go.com/outdoors/bassmaster/members/ldr/leaderboard
  11. If normark is rapala does that mean that they own gamakatsu to? On the back of the gammies package it says normark.
  12. I have heard a few places that when using a palomar knot with floro the line cuts into itself. I think it might have said it in the book that came in my berkley vanish, but i threw it out so i dont know for sure.
  13. I ended up putting them in baggys. I didn't bend the wire i just put less in each bag to prevent a huge tangled messes. I am thinking of getting a binder or falcon box but Bps is 3 1/2hrs away and it costs me 25 dollars to ship it to my house, so i probably wont be able to go till around augest because of some driving complications. Putting them in baggys seems like it will work well. I was using a plano box that took up the whole top compartment of my xps 360 tackle bag(this one http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.TextId?hvarTextId=44423&hvarTarget=search&cmCat=SearchResults)with a some room left for line and pliers. and now they all fit in the clear pouch in the lid of the top compartment.
  14. I was watching bass tech yesterday and there was a tip to store spinnerbaits putting the swivel of the bottom blade over the hooks barb and then putting them in ziplock bags to help save space in your tackle box. It seems like a good idea but i am wondering if storing the spinnerbait bent like that would have any significant affect on the strength of the wire. I don't think it would but i thought i would ask just to make sure. I can always bend it back to the proper shape but i would hate to lose a big fish because the wire was weakened and broke. And dose anybody else have any helpful tips on storing tackle more efficiently.
  15. 02/05/07 I live in southern Ontario its 3 degrees and -16 with the windchill. And it is in Fahrenheit, i dont get celsius.
  16. I seem to usally see 3 inches to walk on and 4inches to ice fish on. Ice fishermen are pretty nuts heres a pick of someguys ice fishing on the river down the street from my house. There is about 4-5 inches of ice. Today i looked and there was 6 huts and about 8 others without huts around the same distance from open water. The current seen in the bottom corner of the picture is the dam. This is the dam.
  17. I tried it in 12lb for a while and it casted nice and was pretty sensative. But it had no abrasive resistince at all.
  18. I know for sure vandam dosen't use that cheap combo with his name on it. I am pretty sure he uses the tour edition pt reels and vandam and normal tour edition pt rods. As for have modified versions of the off the rack stuff i doubt it but it is a possiblity for pros like vandam to get rods and reels modified for their needs.
  19. I haven't read to many fishing books but by far my favorite is kevin vandams bass strategies is my favorite.
  20. I am ordering some reel oil from bps with a gift card, so i dont realy have many options on which to get. I will be useing it on a shimano citica 200d if that matters at all. Thx
  21. I just about always use a zoom fat albert in chartreuse because i usally fish in muddy water. I think it help the fish to home in on and hit the hook and it gives them it a bigger profile. But in clear water i dont use a trailer accept for the odd time.
  22. I only use mono. Big game for baitcasting and trilene for xlfor spinning. I was using power pro for a while but i just like fishing with mono better dont really know why tho.
  23. For baitcasting i only use big game and from my spinning i use trilene xl.
