Hook Manufacturers need to get the hint!
A real easy solution is to use a Durlock snap. The snap will not pull though the gap of the eye..

Looking for a new creature bait
Last year I used GY kreature in color 330 here on Ky lake. I would rig them upside down with a #4 EWG hook and a 1/32 oz weight unpegged on 6 pound test Fluorocarbon line. Just toss it against a grass line and hang on. Had good success on it.

Ardent XS600
Well I try to stay away from a thread like this but I also have a Ardent reel and my experience is nothing like Infidel. My reel is as good as any high dollar reel on the market. And this is from a Shimano fan. When I had my reels service this winter the service guy said he had nevery worked on a Ardent reel but would clean and service mine if I had the breakdown on it. When I received it back he talked about how good it was made. This was comming from a service center that works on a lot of high dollar equipment. I will bet if you call Ardent and talk to them they will make it right with you.

Humminbird 997 / 1197
I have the 997 and a 797 installed on my boat. First you have to installed the transducer in the right location so it is in clean water with no air bubbles. This hold true with any sonar out their. They will work at slow speed and what most people do to protect the transducer is to mount the side inage one up high and then mount another down looking transducer inside the hull to use at high speeds. It has a steep learning curve because their is two units in one. You have a regular DF and a side imaging unit also. If you are a bank beater I would suggest not buying one but if you like fishing deep structer it will be a great help.

Hummingbird Sidescan
Wayne, the image will distorted for about 15 second after you make a hard right or left turn. If I want to look at a spot really good I line up straight ahead . I also do this if I am using the console unit. Yes you can mark a spot if the transiducer is not perpendicular but the spot will be off by a little bit. These unit take a lot of playing with to learn all of the quirks.

Hummingbird Sidescan
I have a 997si on the console and a 797si on the trolling motor. I have mine hook together with the interlink kit and they work like they should. I do not have any problem with the TM mount if you don't whip the TM from stop to stop. My TM will move the boat plenty fast to get a good display. I know several guys who have mounted the side scan on the TM and no one has had a problem that I know of.

Sunline Defier?
I have been using it for a long time and in my experience Sunline is one of the best on the market.

ardent spinning reels
While I don't have a Ardent Spinning reel I do have a Ardent bait casting reel. It is on par with any of the top of the line reel and better than most. And this is from a SHIMANO fan

Sunline Defier?
Yes you should have jump on it for that price. It is all I use on bait casting equipment. That price is for 330 yards and it does not have to be changed as often as some other line.

THINKING ABOUT PURCHASING HUMMINBIRD 797C2 BUT??????
I have a 797SI and love it. It is a fair trade item so you won't find it very much cheaper than what Hunninbird say to sell it for. If you buy it you are getting side imaging plus down looking sonar. It is actually two unit in one. The learning curve is steep and long. If you are a bankbeater I would say to forget it. If you like to fish structur it is a great tool.
