Been searching for that new bass rig!!
Just pick up an 18'-19' glass rig 15 or so years old with a 150 or 175 and keep your tin boat. Have the best of both worlds!!!

Dobyns savvy, kistler, or bps rods..?

Tracker owners.
I have a '99 pt185. I have room for three batteries on the port side of my fuel tank. I'm not sure what group they are, but I can tell you they are the largest deep cycles in the walmart brand. Also, the TM mounts on the boat should be plug and play with minnkota and motorguide. This summer I put a minnkota edge 45 on and it fit with no mods. I have since gone to a used 56 lb 12/24 volt motorguide, but will be selling both to pick up a 24 volt 70 lb. Motorguide. In a stiff wind the TM is on 4 just to stay stationary, 5 to move at a snail's pace. Bass trackers and wind don't get along good.

Lowrance DSI question, on bow or console?
I just picked up a mark 5x DSI unit. I have the mark 5 pro on my console already. I use a garmin hand held gps for all my mapping. My question is, should I install the DSI unit on the bow or the console?

ignition, connection, or what?
I don't know if this will help you, but... I recently had the same problem. I found the source of the issue was a screw securing the panel to the right of the driver's seat had punched through the wire loom running to the motor. It was creating an occasional short in the ignition system. I fixed it by installing shorter screws.

recommended line weight on baitcasting rod should you or not follow by it?
Seriously though, you got some good advise here, just look at the mono equivelent on the braid and match that up. If you have ever seen some of Shimano's rods, they also print the recommended line in braid on the blanks.

Really?? You seem to have mastered the English language in your short visit to earth. Yet rod/line ratings are beyond your comprehension? Who would have guessed.

Flipping/Punching setup
How do you like the 805 I really like it. It is tailor made for 1-1.5 oz weights in the thickest cover a bass would ever live. I also hav experience with the lamiglass 7116 and Abu Garcia vendetta 7'6" mag heavy. The 805 really takes the cake.

I'm using a Castaic (6.1) and I think it is a good comprimise. It's not too slow and you dont sacrifice that much torque (for pulling the hogs out of the thick stuff).

Powell Endurance Review
LOL... I did not intend to hijack the thread My wife fishes with a Powell Max 704C and she likes it. I am waiting to see the new Endurance rods in my local takle shop and may pick up a couple for her if they are decent. Then again she is pretty attached to her GL3 :-[

What length and action rod was KVD using on the 1.5
Actually, IIRC, the Bassmaster publication said he was throwing those rago swim baits on a Falcon....

It seems most of your responses are between the PQ and Citica. My vote goes to the Citica....

hi vis braid
I am trying the trilene fused in yellow now. I have not fished it yet, but I have it spooled up on my DX702SF for drop shooting with a 6# flouro leader. We shall see if I like it...

Need a new jerk/popper/shallow crank rod, which of the two?
It's between a Dobyns 682C (6'8" medium fast) and a 684CB (6'8" medium moderate). I am leaning toward the fast action because I like the responsiveness of the fast tips for working jerks, poppers, and sammy type walking baits. I know the standard is to have a moderate action for trebles, but in the past I did not like the way they felt when working baits requiring rod tip movement. Any opinions or advise? ETA: The fast action could also double as a nice finesse casting rig.....

Loomis
Loomis is outdated and overrated. I have sold all my Loomis sticks and replaced them with Dobyns... I made a wise decision in my opinion.

Dobyns,Powell, or Castaway?
735 savvy is a VERY versatile rod. Sensitive, balanced and looks great. Also backed by a lifetime warranty and no hassle $60 replacement. You will not regret buying this rod.

Dobyns 705cb glass vs 705cbmf glass
I have the 705cb glass and love it! I have never used the 705cbmf so I can't comment. I have used other glass rods with a moderate fast action and do not like them. I like the fast action because they seem to cast lighter baits better for me.

Dobyns vs Powell
Just to add to this: I have fished Powell, a 704C to be exact. My wife uses the Powell now and I am all Dobyns. Sterted off with a Champion 683C and have since added five more casting rods and plan to add two spinning rods after the holidays. The other night I was bored, so I put my cell phone on my laminate wood floor, set it to vibrate, and tested the sensitivity in several different rods. The Powell and the Savvy are in the same price range, so I will discuss the head to head results between those two. The Savvy is a 735C and as I stated earlier, the Powell is a 704C. The Savvy has a Curado 201E7 and the Powell has a Pfluger trion. First off, the Savvy balances out MUCH better and is lighter than the Powell. Keep in mind that the Savvy is three inches lighter and one "power" heavier. The Savvy beat the Powell sensitivity wise by just over eight inches on the laminate floor with the cell phone test. As a matter fact, the Savvy was just behind some of my Champions and Champion Extremes. I'm by no means saying the Savvy is a better rod, I am stating my findings and observations. It all boils down to personal preference and if someone is a tourney or hard core weekend angler, the lighter, better balanced, more sensitive rod in a given price range should be chosen. I should also state that I sold off four Loomis IMX rods to support my Dobyns addiction. In MY OPINION, the Dobyns are far superior, given the overall quality, characteristics, performance, warranty, and customer service. By reading my post, it is clear what my choice between Powell and Dobyns Savvy would be...... I should also say I am 32 years old, fish tourneys in a local club with my wife as a teammate, in decent shape, fish in any and all conditions, and usually catch fish. When I just got into bass fishing I was using Berkely Lightning rods and could never see spending over $50 on a "fishing pole". BUT, I was not detecting light bites, casting was nowhere close to today in accuracy or distance, and I failed to connect on far too many hook sets. Its a free market, buy what you like and what you can afford. My personal choice is Dobyns, is there any other choice? 8-)
