  1. Wow, that is soo great of you! I have to work there June 16-19, so either a day before or a day after that I could get in some fishing. I am already driving 900 miles, so 45 more is not a big deal. I would of course pay for the gas for the day, or any other expenses. Not sure if you would ever get to my neck of the woods, but I would for sure try to return the favor. This is why I love this site! I didn't really expect anyone to take me fishing, just tell me where - but this is great!
  2. I am kind of weird about this. Deep down I think I am a big fish fisherman. I have no problem going all day catching no fish if I know that I can catch a big one before the day is over. On the other hand, if I go all day trying to catch a big one, and I don't catch either size or numbers, I will wish I had just went for numbers. If you commit to trying to catch big ones, you pretty much have to be prepared to get skunked occasionally, or at least catch fewer fish. That's what I have trouble with.
  3. Great, love to have you! It looks like I am going to have to skip out on the Saturday night wine party. My wife doesn't know it yet, but I found out yesterday her "Alma mater" is inducting her into their Hall of Fame Saturday night. So I will need to leave the lake around 6:30 to get to the ceremony, which is in Martin, TN. I may stop by early and just say hi to everyone! Anyway, about fishing - I'll just consider you going on Sunday, unless I hear otherwise - or call my cell 641-226-0999. Gary, thanks for the kind words - we did have a blast that day, can't wait to go back there.
  4. I just spooled one of my reels with it, haven't got to fish with it yet. I seemed really nice just messing around with it in the yard.
  5. Just making my final list, but I think everything fishing and boat related is packed. I'm really pumped to get down there. I kind of wish I would have taken some time off of work next week instead of just coming down this weekend. BTW - I still don't really have anyone lined up to fish with either day, not a big deal if I fish by myself, but if anyone wants to ride along you're more than welcome.
  6. Congratulations to both of you.
  7. That format just seems like it would be a lot of fun.
  8. Yeah, we'll definitely have company. They'll weigh in at 2pm, I'll just be getting warmed up.
  9. Sounds like there are a couple Tournaments that first weekend (16th), one launching out of Moors.
  10. So I'm headed to Goshen, CT in June for work. I have never been in the area. I should have some time either before or after working to get in some recreation. I hoped there were some members who could point me in the right direction. I'm really up for anything, trout, bass, whatever. Thanks.
  11. Can't wait. You need me to bring anything?
  12. I wanted to go, couldn't make it. How was it?
  13. I will be down the first weekend, driving down Friday night - fishing Saturday and Sunday. It looks like I'm coming by myself, I am bringing my boat - so if anyone wants to ride along either day anyone is welcome. I can't wait.
  14. I went up there in May last year, when I was living in IA. The lake was so clear then it wasn't even funny. I didn't catch a whole lot of bass, but didn't catch anything under 3lbs. There are a lot of big crappie in that lake also. Supposed to be a descent walleye population. We had a lot of fun, definitely worth going back. There is a forum, my outdoors IA, that a lot of people share info for the lakes in that area.
  15. There are a couple of things that companies hope to accomplish with a sponsorship, whether that be of an event or an individual. One is that the really loyal fans will run out and buy their product simply because of their relationship with the individual, more out of loyalty and adoration of the individual than anything else. This is what we normally think of when we think about a sponsor relationship. This really doesn't happen that often. The other is that consumers become aware of a product, or are exposed to that product because of the sponsorship. The consumer then gives that product consideration when making their next purchase, and ultimately makes a purchase based on the product's own merits. Would I really buy a $35,000 Nitro ONLY because KVD has one? Not likely. However I know about the product because of him, and it is in front of me when I watch a tournament on TV, and when shopping for my next boat I may look into what that brand has to offer before ruling them out.
  16. We have our travel plans a little more precise, going down May 1-7. Not taking my boat now. I have a friend who lives near the Harris Chain. He has a boat, but has no clue about fishing. I think his boat is a fish and ski, no trolling motor. We may go out on one of those lakes. Are they good? I still may try to go to one of the other places mentioned also.
  17. Welcome, Rolla is about 35 miles from where I grew up.
  18. From all I've read, we should be there in the best time to load up some crappie. You can bet I'll be throwing a crappie jig from time to time.
  19. Thanks everybody. I appreciate the info. That is what makes this site great. The fish in my avatar came from Saddle Creek in Lakeland - that is another place we were thinking of. (not the fish in the current pic!)
  20. Thanks George.
  21. There was an ad on craigslist about a tackle shop in IL loosing their building lease and selling their inventory, bait tanks and everything. It has probably been a month ago.
  22. Thanks for the info guys.
  23. Baitcaster? I had one of the older ones and liked it. Those were made by Diawa. You had to back off on the magnet and tighten up the spool tension, and you could cast it a mile. Mine was lost in a disastrous accident and went overboard along with my pride and now rests at the bottom of Lake Fork.
  24. Good info, what a great experience. That would be time well spent.
  25. I like his answer to "what does tournament fishing need?" Well Glenn, since everything is pretty much going exactly the way I dreamed it, it's pretty good the way it is.
