  1. Thank you guys, wish the pic was better, but it's hard when your by yourself.
  2. Had another nice day today including my biggest smallmouth of the season. Also caught another big walleye. Got the smallmouth on a Spro Little John MD in spring craw.
  3. Try drop shotting a 4 inch purple worm in about 15-20 ft of water. Look for sloughs, there are alot of them on Roosevelt, also try the bridge pilings. If you find grass, throw a lipless crank, also try a topwater in the morning. Where are you launching?
  4. I was going to head out there this coming Tuesday, but changed plans and am going somewhere else. I'm thinking of going sometime in October.
  5. I plan on putting a picture my 5 year old colored of us in the boat on board for good luck. I like sentimental things. Good point about not advertising for free, I'll try and remember not to do that.
  6. Its got a different rolling style wobble to it that will attract fish the DT may not. It also bounces off cover and goes over it compared to the DT series that will go around it. I love to throw flats close to shore and bring them down a bank holding rock and tree structure Thanks!
  7. Thank You! I'm hoping to get a PB smallie before the seasons over.
  8. Where would the flat be a better option than the regular DT? Is it like a hybrid lipless crank? I have one but haven't thrown it.
  9. Fished a lake I had never fished before today and had a really nice day. Started with the walleye and the two nice smallies weren't long after. Got the walleye and the first smallie on a Rapala DT 10 in a craw pattern and the second smallie on a Picaso double Colorado blade spinnerbait in shad. That walleye is a PB for me. Caught a bunch of dinks of both species to go along with these better ones. I love the adventure that fishing is and I love smallmouth!
  10. Pike Lake in Fifield Wisconsin, where I became hooked.
  11. He's the ultimate power fisherman whatever technique he is using but it does seem crankbaits have been his money bait recently. His competitiveness is second to none.
  12. Congrats! Man from the pic that fish looks like its over 5lb.
  13. Bought one while I was deployed to the middle east to practice with.........unfortunately haven't got to use it in water yet, package got damaged and the rod came back broken, waiting for a new rod to put it on. It cast really well while practicing.
  14. Maybe try that dinger wacky rigged on a drop shot, if the dinger isn't producing a tube can be a great bait for smallmouth.
  15. Yea, I'll never forget when I told you I was going to try it on our trip and you said "I don't know about you but I'm throwing the sammy." Changed your mind after I brought one in on the second cast! Lost a good one with it on Sat messing with my drag. I love that technique and am going to try so many different things with it.
  16. I was fishing in 30 mph gusts on Saturday and I stumbled a few times, took the wallet and phone out of my pocket just in case, luckily didn't fall in.
  17. Not original but custom painted. I'm going to try the trap around the grass and give the wart a try too.
  18. Thanks Tin! I got the trap tied on from the other day, was going to go with a wiggle wart but I think I'll keep that trap on to start.
  19. I'm planning an outing soon to Lake Roosevelt Wa, it's actually a reservoir of the Columbia River and it is narrow and very deep. My plan from looking at images is to try a long point that is partially wooded on one side and sandy on the other, it looks to be surrounded by deeper water all the way around. The air temp will be in the 60's and not certain of the water temp but it should be fairly cool. Is fishing this point a good idea for this outing? What should I be looking for on points for smallmouth? Or should I skip this all together and look for something else? Thanks!
  20. Nice jig fish. I've caught my best one in the 2 weeks I've been home on a jig and rage chunk. I've got so much confidence in the rage craws.
  21. Nice, congrats. I wish I had that bait for my drop shotting come this Saturday, looks good.
  22. Nice! Have you posted a pic of the rig anywhere?
  23. I fish with both & the Cardiff is just as smooth as the Calcutta Calcutta B Cold forged aluminum frame Dartainium Drag Lo-Mass Drilled Aluminum Spool System Bearings: 3 ea. A-RB Rust Resistant Bearings plus 1 ea. Roller Cardiff A Diecast Aluminum Frame Aluminum Spool Aluminum Sideplates Bearings: 4 ea. A-RB Rust Resistant Bearings plus 1 ea. Roller Thanks! I'm so close to finally using it, can't wait!!
  24. Maybe I should have sprung for a little more and got the Calcutta for my swimbait setup. I got the Cardiff instead, how does it stack up against the Calcutta? I imagine just a lesser quality reel........hence the price.
