  1. Thank you all very much, I am going to replace the steering cables.
  2. I've got a 91 Mercury XR6 on my boat and the steering wheel is very stiff, especially when it's cold. This makes it difficult to steer my boat back on the trailer and may be somewhat unsafe. Someone I know told me that some properly applied oil should solve this. Is this right or are there multiple other possibilities that could be causing this? Any suggestions or descriptions on a solution are appreciated.
  3. BPS brought back the Mann's Jelly Worm and I stocked up on them. Also got some Bagley's Small Fry crankbaits from E Bay that have been gone for quite a while I believe. I'm all about looking for stuff that isn't that common or has been discontinued. But Why some of these lures get discontinued is a mystery.
  4. Fantastic! Congrats!
  5. Way to go Tiff!! Get you some more!
  6. Maybe give a T-rigged worm or a jig a shot.
  7. What a beautiful fish! Congrats!
  8. I'm deployed with the military and bought a strikeforce from BPS to practice with while I'm here and so far I like it very much. Haven't actually cast into water yet, but it's light and casts very far. My only concern is that the reel may be fragile.
  9. Thanks for the input. I'm from Elmwood Park originally. If I ever come back around we should do some fishing.
  10. Kind of surprised by the responses. Won't be much of a conversation piece for me if they don't catch any fish. So a bait that is painted to more closely resemble forage doesn't give the fish any reactionary instinct to strike a bait over a bait that doesn't resemble any forage? Or a bait that better blends with the hues of the fishes natural surroundings doesn't make it more appealing to them either? Maybe like MarcDavid said, they will just give me more confidence, although I don't know how much confidence I'll have in them after this thread. Very interesting guys, thanks for the replies!
  11. I have ordered some custom painted crankbaits that I am very exited about trying. It's actually a bait I have never caught a fish with, but from it's reputation and it's action I'm convinced I will have much success with it, especially with these custom painted baits. In your experience/opinion what kind of advantage have custom painted baits given you?
  12. Beautiful man, get wait to get my 5 year old on a trip like that!
  13. Hindsight is tough too. Catching a 4lber on the last spot you fish with minutes to go and than wondering if you could have caught 4 more just like it had you fished the spot longer.
  14. I like to pitch into cover that you might be hesitant to pitch into, like fallen trees. I like to feel my jig deflecting off branches. I like when I feel the bait in contact with anything because I believe it will give the bait an erratic appearance that will appeal to the bass.
  15. Last summer I sold my 12' Aluminum and got my first bass boat. I love it of course, but really miss my little boat and the small waters I used to fish with it. I've been looking at Hobie cats and am considering getting a canoe but am curious of how fishable they are. I've really been leaning toward and 8-10' Pond Prowler. Either way I will get another small watercraft......for moments just like the one you describe.
  16. Focus on your bait, top water strikes vary from timid gulps to explosions and if your not ready it's easy to miss the fish. Look forward to the post after you land one!
  17. Terminator makes a purple spinnerbait.
  18. The best topwater fish I ever caught was from shore using a ribbit. It was early evening of a hot summer day in about 2 feet of water by some grass. 6-7 feet away from me this 5 lber exploded full body out of the water and devoured the frog. My adrenaline is going even telling that story.
  19. Maybe a lack of confidence in those other baits is hindering you as well. I've felt completely hopeless with certain baits before I started catching fish with them and now some of those same lures have become my go to baits. Have patience and believe they will catch fish. But also like most others are saying continue to enjoy catching them with the senko, that thing is great!
  20. Beautiful!
  21. Thank You very much for sharing the insight Wayne!
  22. Thanks Wayne. Does the bait fall vertically and does it stand vertically when it reaches bottom? It seems similar to a technique I read about and have been anxious to try called the Hideki Rig, with the exception of the tubing and hooking through the worm.
  23. Is that a weight in the tail, if so what size, and how deep will you fish that setup? Thanks.
  24. Man I love the pics you post, doesn't get much better than that!
  25. Makes sense, thanks for the input and the pic.
