  1. Yea, awesome colors and a very healthy and good looking bass all the way around!
  2. I had success with them on two occasions for largemouth last year. The spawn and late fall fishing it around rock.
  3. I'm Active Duty Air Force serving a 6 month tour in the middle east, will return home in August. 9 years in. Miss the U.S. very much.
  4. A Late April early May morning in the Northwest, prespawn largemouth. Cloudy and cool, air temp in the 40's, bundled up before the clouds clear and the sun starts to warm the day. Some chop on the water due to the morning breeze. Burning spinnerbaits in areas where lily pads will soon control. I'm going to miss that so much this year, can't wait to get back home!
  5. Thanks! I'll focus on developing the relationship and getting comfortable with commands before i rush him out on the boat with me. I'm going to check out Dick Wolters too.
  6. I'm seriously considering getting a dog in the near future and of the many reasons I would love to have a dog, having a fishing buddy is one of them. Any suggestions on breeds and tips on making them comfortable on the water would be appreciated.
  7. The anticipation of it all. Then when the day you lost so much sleep over comes and it's as good or better than you anticipated.
  8. I've inherited my fishing passion from my grandparents. I hear my grandma actually taught my grandpa how to fish! And my grandpa was and all around avid outdoorsman. I definitely consider myself a lone wolf for the most part. Can't wait for that first trip out alone once I get out of this middle eastern desert. Outside of seeing my wife and boys again it's what I dream of most!
  9. Congrats, catch many more on it!
  10. It's on page 2 of this forum, titled "Which Classic Patterns Video do you like the most?" It was awesome to see his post.
  11. I just got the Shimano Compre Crankbait rod for $109, haven't got to throw it yet but it seems like it will be good for my deep cranking.
  12. Senko may be the most influential bait ever!
  13. You may not need to go as heavy as 16lb fluoro for your first setup but if it's catching you fish it should be fine. I'd go 10lb or 12lb. Also you might not want such a fast taper for your crankbait fishing. I just got the 7' Shimano Compre cranking rod and a shimano curado 5:1.1 gear ratio for another cranking setup. For #2, you may possibly want a longer rod for flipping, I just got a 7'6 G Loomis IMX the other day, but if that daiwa is stout it should be fine as well. I think everything you've got down should work, take notes and let the fish tell you if you need to change up some of your gear as well. Good luck!
  14. I have never seen anything like that but it looks like it might be a good drop shot bait. I guess you can use it anyway you use a french fry/centipede bait. I like how that thing looks!
  15. I've got a couple of punisher hair jigs in black and red that I just tried this past fall, only caught a couple of dinks on them so far but I will definitely keep trying. Mike Iaconelli suggests using them for lethargic fish, water temp in the 40's.
  16. Gorgeous fish! Gets me exited just looking at that pic! Congrats on that beauty!
  17. Rage tail chunk is my favorite, I'm going to try twin tail grubs more and also tentacles from tubes....Got that idea from an article about a fishing trip with Mark Zona in Bassmaster. Also going to try small swimbaits. Have had success with matching and off colored trailers.
  18. I like the design and love the action of the newer lipless cranks. The older discontinued ones seem to be even better. Bought 3 small fry in bluegill for $35 on Ebay. Couldn't pass them up, thought the color was amazing. I plan on throwing them alot when I know bluegill are a main forage.
  19. 1992 Ranger 372V, 150 HP Mercury XR6
  20. Mister Twister G Grub, 4 inch. Caught my PB largemouth and smallmouth on a spinnerbait trailed with it.
  21. Normally "Crocs" in the summer.
  22. The first time taking my wife and 3 year old son out in my first bass boat I left the plug out. I launched and it started taking on water..........I knew I left the plug out so I grabbed it from the truck but since it was in the water I didn't put it in the right place. When I had the outboard running it was fine......when I slowed or stopped it started taking on water again. Looking back it's scary to think about!
  23. SSgt in the United States Air Force. Hoping to pass the test for the next rank soon.
  24. Hearing, "How much is that gonna cost?" and "Where are you gonna get the money?" every time I bring up fishing any tournament. Also hearing, "You want it, you don't need it." every time I mention purchasing tackle. So I guess pursuing tournament bass fishing while dealing with criticism at home is hard.
  25. Sorry, missed your last line about the St Laurence and the 300ft depth, the unit I mentioned doesn't get to that depth......if you'll even be fishing in waters deeper than 100ft! I think a fishfinder is a good investment.
