Lake Williams- York, PA
Hey thanks! I'll let you know if I bring down old blue (the boat). I have too many lakes on my 'list of lakes to fish'... Better get started!

Swivel snaps on crankbaits
The deal is: the snap is not ever going to eliminate the need to check/cut and retie oftlenly, that 's something you have to do with the snap or without it, if you don 't do it don 't be surprised you loose lures and fish out of pure laziness, nobody or nothing forces you to do it, checking/cutting and retying is a matter of procedure. Your right, but if you're tying directly on, and you forget stuff all the time like I do, you at least have to retie when you change lures. You may not understand because I forget things in a snap Maybe your memory is better than mine

Swivel snaps on crankbaits
I used snaps for a long time, but just recently quit using them because I heard it's better to tie straight on... I saved a lot of line using a snap I guess it's better to tie directly on too because then it forces you to check your line and retie!

Lake Williams- York, PA
Does Redman have that huge billboard sign up on the hill? I remember passing a lake on the way to Baltimore and seeing that. I think it would be that one because it's right on the Interstate from what I can see via google maps...

My new PB
Man, those things fight harder than smallies! You must have a super huge finger!

Lake Williams- York, PA
Decent little fish from what I can see I need to take a trip to York too, Williams and Redman look like they would be worth the trip (about 2 hours for me).

Shore fishing =/= boat fishing
Fishing deep is just the same as fishing shallow, just takes longer to hit bottom Look for weeds, grass, rocks, humps, depressions in the bottom.... Anything out of the normal 'flow' of the bottom. It takes a few trips to get used to the images you're seeing but grass and weeds normally look like small, but very tall spikes, rocky or hard bottoms will usually look solid, and muddy or sandy bottoms tend to look like the sonar is picking objects up past the bottom (like you'll see holes under the bottom line... hard to explain, but I think when you see it, you'll know what I mean). Creek channels and there walls are probably my number 1 place to catch deeper fish. They are like transitional highways for bass. Get yourself some cranks that run a foot or so deeper than the water your fishing so you can dig up the bottom. Or, get a crank that will run with the top of the grassline and smack into the tops of the grass then pause (floaters work good for this). Also, most Texas rigged or Carolina rigged plastics will work. If you throw weightless plastics, give yourself a LOOOOOONG time to hit bottom. I've sat for 30 seconds to 1 minute in 20 ft. of water until my lure hit bottom. Patience is key!

Got my first jig fish!!
There is nothing like catching a jig fish because you know that most of the time it's going to be a good one! Great story! I love jig fishing for smallies, there's no missing a smallie strike because they are so darn aggressive haha.

People of Maryland....I want to fish!!
Ah, cool. Good luck in your venture. I have nothing of value to add so I'm gonna go post somewhere else now Let me know how you do because I have been thinking about a trip myself!

People of Maryland....I want to fish!!
$52 for an out of state license?! Is that for the entire year? Don't they have like 3 day options? When I go to Delaware to fish the salt, I just get a week license. I'd love to fish the Potomac also, but I don't think my little vessel would survive...

Ever have a 'DUH' moment while fishing?
HAHA Bassn Blvd that's awesome. I usually do the opposite and forget to unhook the wench and wonder why the boat isn't coming off the trailer! It really sucks when you do this and you are launching by yourself

Ever have a 'DUH' moment while fishing?
Ahh I do that sometimes too. Just last week something grabbed my jig and the drag was screaming. I just started reeling like an idiot and didn't set the hook. I think it was a pike though because the trailer was cut in half and the jig head had a scrape in it. Id love to catch a pike but I'm glad it wasn't a lost bass haha Bigfruits, you have a point. The crank was green with black stripes (typical lmb colors). I guess it would work because of all those crazy colors that don't resemble fish haha

Man I do that a lot too. I at least catch it before I throw though

Ever have a 'DUH' moment while fishing?
I can't believe I am even posting this, but if you all get a laugh out of my stupidity, then its worth it I was fishing a few weeks ago in the Juniata River. I was tossing an old Rapala lipless crank (I forget the model, I have had it for years) in a baby bass color... Wasn't catching a darn thing. I just realized today, that there are no largemouth bass in that river and throwing a baby LMB color was probably the last lure I should have been using! I bet the smallies were thinking "WHAT THE HECK IS THAT!".... I know I'm an idiot! Anyone else ever do anything stupid like that?

Hey from Southern PA
Man there has been a lot of people from Pa around here lately - I LOVE IT! I feel a BR Meet up for Pa is in order here soon! I vote Raystown or the 'hanney River.

Catfish assistance.
Chicken Livers wrapped in a small piece of panty hose wrapped around it works great too. The panty hose keeps the liver from being picked at, the cat has to take the whole piece! All of Horny Toads suggestions will work also, but I use the liver probably 90% of the time... I should go cat fishin' tonight, I haven't done that in years!

Gamecocks!!!
Who has time to watch sports when there's fishing to be done!? Ah, I miss my old days of playing baseball... I'm too fat and slow now!

Pinpointing Spots on Rivers
No Problem. I don't know how hot it is where you are at the moment, but right now in my area the smallies are in the middle of the river and are holding in the deeper pools. During the morning and the evening, the topwater is on fire!

Ragetail baits and Chiggercraws
I fish Central Pa all the time Colyer, Walker, Faylor, Juniata River, Raystown... I use the Rage Craws and Shad's love em. I don't ever get into any big bluegill that have been able to take the claws off though. The only bluegill issues I have are with ribbon tail worms, they always take the ends off! I have also never had a shad rip on me yet, so I don't know what is going on there?

Colyer Lake 06/26/10 (Rage Craw was the winner!)
That it does! I was going to buy the rage craws that are specifically for jig trailers, but the old rage with a nice big bite out of its back works just as good haha. They kind of taste like pepper... I know you were wondering! I must say, I am very impressed with these baits. I like to keep my plastics simple and not have 10000 legs and junk hanging off of the body. These have the perfect amount of detail and the perfect amount of action. I can't believe I didn't buy these sooner
