  1. Strike King Series 6 & 3 sexy shad color (produces smallies all year 'round) El Grande Lures Tubes (Watermelon Copper and Bluegill) Rage Craws (Green w/ red flake) w/ Tru-Tungsten green flippin' weights Shadalicious swimbaits with weighted 4/0 or 5/0 hook (shadalicious is hands down my favorite soft swimbait).
  2. Is theft a part of your daily routine? BAM! Yeah, send those back. I don't care if they say you don't have to pay or not, that's just unethical.
  3. Whipples Dam is mainly a trout lake. I have never caught any bass there (never targeted them there though), but I have seen a few (nothing of size though). Whipples and Greenwood both are freakin COLD all the time because the feeder creeks are all mountain runoffs. They stock Whipples with some BIG rainbows, but who wants to waste their time catching stockies (unless you have kids with you haha). You can get stockies to bite gold hooks with no bait on them...
  4. I absolutely love my Daiwa Crossfire rig. Here is a link to the reel: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0048764122345a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCH_all&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&Ntt=daiwa+crossfire&Ntk=Products&sort=all&Go.y=0&N=0&Nty=1&hasJS=true&_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/search/search-box.jsp.form1&Go.x=0 Heck the entire combo is on sale now for $29.99: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?id=0066932124203a&type=product&cmCat=SEARCH_all&returnPage=search-results1.jsp&Ntt=daiwa+crossfire&Ntk=Products&sort=all&Go.y=0&N=0&Nty=1&hasJS=true&_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/search/search-box.jsp.form1&Go.x=0
  5. I usually use 1/16" ones, but either would work. My hooks are Gamakatsu Octopus hooks 1/0.
  6. I was going to join soon also. Mainly because I want to fish an open tournament next year. The bag looks like its worth 12 dollars itself I was a member of FLW also and it was a decent magazine. I can get a ton more info here though.
  7. Sorry, can't help you with that one I do want to get there this season though. Let me know how you do. Just approach it like you would any other lake, most smaller lakes in the region all fish the same. I would agree with you to try topwater if there are a lot of pads, especially frogs. If all else fails, texas rig a senko and move it so slow you think it isn't moving at all
  8. HAHA I just want to catch a little sand shark or something small, nothing big I have some wire leaders from when I was down there before, they are only about 6 inches long though. I did find a place to rent a surf rod also, I may do that if I have time. I think I'll stick to the jetties at the Indian River Intel though, looks like the action is decent from the fishing reports I have seen. I'll work my way up to sharks in a few trips haha.
  9. Yeah, the softness might be a slight advantage as you said. This crank looks amazing. Every time I look at these threads I want to go buy an airbrush Have you been using an airbrush for awhile or is that your first try? If it is, I'll keep my statement that your not human haha.
  10. Thanks MDangler. I usually use flouro for my leaders but still have a huge spool of 12lb. mono left that is collecting dust I think I remember correctly but can you rent surf equipment down there? I'd love to try my hand at shark fishing while I'm down there! I tried searching but can't really find any info on rentals for equipment... I can't stop thinking about salt fishing now... I think I'm in trouble
  11. Man I would be afraid to fish with something that nice looking. How did you make the body of this lure? If you did that by hand then you are just not human
  12. Agreed. You have to find fast moving water if you want to find smallies in the shallows. I've pulled some of my biggest smallies out in the middle of summer. I don't know of any lakes in my area that hold smallies so I can't help you there Find yourself a stream or river
  13. Great info Catt! I can't tell you how many times I have fished with people that have to stop at EVERY tree they see that fell in the water. There has to be a reason for the fish to sit at that tree. Not all cover/structure is created equal
  14. They replaced my rod that I had for 3 days. It broke right above the next to last guide... No questions asked! I just busted my crossfire combo also so we'll see if that gets the same treatment
  15. My WalMart doesn't have any wood... Jerks! That's some cheap wood you got there
  16. I think you punch the fish in the head when you're going to keep it, that way it doesn't suffer... Do you mean this? http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1248137420
  17. Ah that sucks. Maybe I should take up striper fishing That's what I love about Raystown though, it's either HOT or it sucks, there's not in between haha. Buzz - I haven't been up yet this year but everyone I have talked to said it's not producing too well. I bet it has something to do with them draining it plus the increased heat (i think it started getting hot as they were re filling it, so it may have effected the fish).
  18. Negative. Check craft stores or hardware stores. If you have a Michael's near you, they sell carving products for dirt cheap (plus you may be able to find a 40 to 50% off coupon for Michaels, they always have one available). Edit: http://dealspl.us/michaels-coupons there it is. Just keep watching that site, as soon as 1 expires, they just post a new one. My wife uses them all the time.
  19. Good point. But does this mean it take more energy (or time) for a deep fish to come shallow (by their own means, not from being caught)?
  20. This may not apply to you because I don't think you have muskie or pike to worry about but if you find what looks to be a sweet spot, but it's dead, you may have stumbled upon an area that's holding one of these toothy creatures. I see it a lot in Raystown, you'll find a great looking structure point, maybe even the perfect piece of structure, and it's a dead zone OR you pull in a Muskie. If bass aren't on the top of the food chain where you fish, just keep looking for good structure that ISN'T holding a gator
  21. Boat.. Jon Boats are like fall out shelters... You'll have it a lifetime if you maintain it.
  22. I think it does that because when you select how long you want to log in for. Even if you leave the site, I think you're still technically signed in.
  23. Ah I love learning knots... even though I only use the same 4 over and over haha that sebile looks hard to tie, Ill need to find a diagram. I can't watch people tie and then re do it. I'm strange like that haha
  24. Roadwarrior, is that similar to a nail-less nail knot? It looks really close to what I tie my fly tippets on with.
  25. nice job! Never been to that lake before. You'll get em next time haha
