  1. Definitely don't give up on them, bedding bass can be very difficult to get to bite. However, they are more than likely going to be some of the biggest bass you ever catch. I like to use a Green Pumpkin Rage Craw and I pitch it in their bed and just shake it. You may pitch 20 times in there with little or no reaction. But you will hit a certain spot on that bed that will make her mad. Just keep trying. Also, if you catch the male off the bed first, when you throw him back place him on the other side of the boat and try to throw back into the nest before he gets back. The big female will be more likely to bite during this time. I also like to throw a white tube or a white super fluke if the Rage Craw doesn't work. If you find a big female and you scare her off or can't get her to bite, come back and check her later. She still has to eat even though she is spawning. About the only time you WILL NOT catch a spawning fish is if they are actually in the middle of the deed;) Good luck!
  2. I like to fish Lake Des Arc, Greers, White River, Arkansas River-Maumelle Pool, Barnett, Lake Conway and absolutely love Ouachita. I fished DeGray for the first time this past weekend and it is a great lake. I really can't say I have a favorite, but I absolutely love to fish Arkansas waters!
  3. Started with blue/black jig, 3/8 ounce with a pig trailer. Was a little to windy today, but the fish were there. Just couldn't get them to bite. Also tried running a deep crank over them. That is the first time I had fished those jetties and I will be waiting on a calm day to return. I haven't quite got the hang of trolling and fishing. Although I thought I did well today. I have only done it a hand full of times now as I have only had my boat about 2 months. I can't wait to get back to that area when the water has fallen a little bit and when it isn't quite so windy. Temp this morning was around 24, brrrr.....but hey, I wasn't sitting on my butt at the house! Thanks for the advice RW, although I didn't know you had replied until after I got back today. I did go with the blue/black jig though. I'll have to do some checking into the other recommendation.
  4. This was given to me by the corp of engineers
  5. Heading out tomorrow morning to do some fishing on the Arkansas River around the Willow Beach Area just south east of Little Rock/North Little Rock. I plan on fishing the rock jetties for the most part. I will maily be jig fishing but I am looking for any recommendations as to anything I could add if the jig isn't working. Airtemp has been mid-30s for about the last 4 days and will be the same tomorrow. 40% chance of rain and it looks as if there will be a light mist most of the day and it will be overcast. So any recommendations? (Staying home is not an option)
  6. http://www.nws.noaa.gov/ahps/ Hope this helps some of you.
  7. It got a little over freezing here in Little Rock, but the wind chill has been in the teens. I heading out on Friday to the Arkansas River over here and see if I can catch a few.
  8. I think either would be great. Me, personally, I would rather have the gift card. But, maybe down the road after I have all the tackle I want(HA!) , I would be interested in the kit.
  9. Well I haven't personally had the pleasure of speaking with a Pro, but I could see where they are coming from as well as the average fisherman. Hopefully one day I'll get to.
  10. Never fished those two small draws. Have hit the upper cove and lower cove on the dam side of the lake, but never those small draws. What does everyone think about the North bank across from the point? There is a good drop right there that gives the bass a quick move from shallow to deeper water and both feeder creeks kind of meet there. Was thinking of starting on that point then working across with a jig.
  11. Would Google Earth Maps be good enough? Or is there somewhere else to get better ones?
  12. I kind of thought that last time I went. Argued with my buddy, I let him win : so we started at the bridge and went east.
  13. Have caught fish there, but think we approached it wrong after reading a few posts by Catt.
  14. Depth ranges from 3ft to 75/80ft. Main channel is about 35-45ft in different spots. Water temp right now I would say is above 60. Vegetaion is almost gone. Lots of stumps all over the entire lake except where the dam is. (Rock Dam) http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&safe=on&ie=UTF8&t=k&ll=35.223395,-91.9699&spn=0.033656,0.054932&z=14&output=embed What do you think? Water is clear/dingy

Welcome to BR! I am a Central Arkansas guy here. Love to do some Bass fishing. Tight Lines!
  16. Will definitely be picking up a pack or two of these.
  17. Anyone else used this? They didn't have any Bang! in(had Garlic, but no crawfish) so I bought Stick it!. Anyone had any luck with it? Also, anyone tried Gulp Crawfish Scent?
  18. Well at least you caught a limit. When you said he set the hook on you I almost fell out my chair. He had to be completely clueless. Hopefully you won't let it ruin your friendship.
  19. They all deserve one now and again don't they???
  20. Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. I took what I learned from the articles I read here and had a GREAT outing yesterday doing some Bass fishing. Thanks and tight lines to everyone!
  21. Okay when you say shallow cranks, are you using lipless? Also, do you go with Shad patterns this time of year? Blue of Silver? Thanks!
  22. + LOL, Scott Hall, what a has been! Man that is some serious grease in that hair.
  23. Came off, I am guessing from not setting the hook well. I am used to fishing with mostly crank baits so you don't have to set the hook so hard. I'll look into trimming the weedguard.
