Virginia Bass License Plate
I've actually seen a few down here in Hampton Roads. Thought about getting one, haven't pulled the trigger yet...maybe I will, maybe I won't. I do like the portion going to conservation, though.

New Fishermen!
Welcome aboard! Do yourself a big favor and hit up the articles on this site. Really, I was all over them before I ever joined up. Plenty there for both beginners and seasoned bass fisherfolk. You'll learn a lot here in the forums, but that is my recommendation to you.

Thoughts On Canoe Or Kayak
I'll chime in here, having done both, I prefer to fish out of a hybrid kayak - which is part kayak and part canoe. Mine is a Native Watercraft Ultimate 12, the other hybrid is made by Wilderness Systems and is the Commander. You can get the Ultimate in a longer version that can easily take two people. You sit lower to the water like a kayak, can still outfit it like a canoe for the most part. Here's mine (Been outfitted with new trolling motor since this pic). I control my trolling motor with my feet (direction), and have a control box for the 5/3 speed settings on my left hand next to my seat.

Update, Update!! Carbonlite Rods!
Totally agree. It's all in the "hands" of the beholder, so-to-speak. Since I don't go over 6'6" I didn't pick up any of those. I wish BPS left the two models, or maybe intro the white with a new name, and leave the blacks as-is or upgrade the guides, etc. But hey, I'm not the billionaire who runs the place, LOL.

Update, Update!! Carbonlite Rods!
Positive. I will admit, the Hampton BPS did not have a huge supply of the new CLs, but I tested out the 6'6" M and ML that were in stock, both spinning and casting. Granted, they were darn close, just felt a tad heavier in the tip. Not bad, by any means. I think I like the Ti guides better, assume the will stand up better than the guides on the black version. The guys at the BPS counter said they were gettin a LOT of complaints over the white models - mostly due to color, FWIW. For me, if I could land some black models, I'd be happy for a long while.

Update, Update!! Carbonlite Rods!
So guys, I stopped by the Hampton BPS today on the way home from some indoor soccer games and... The white CL rods did NOT impress me as much as I thought/hoped they would!! They felt a tad more tip-heavy than the black I have. Problem being I could not do a side-by-side comparison, only from memory of my three black models. And the other bad thing, Hootie, maybe you can provide more info?: The Hampton store sent ALL their black CL rods back to corporate. Apparently the Richmond store has some the guys there told me. So the final question is this: is the 40% off the black versions going to be BOTH and online and in-store sale?

Opinions For What Next Rod Should Be?
Welcome aboard! Look at a Daiwa Lexa, around that price. Solid reel for the money. Pro Q is a great reel as well.

You're right!

Update, Update!! Carbonlite Rods!
I think you mean $85, as the new CL is $99. Anything $75 - $99.99 is $15 off. Unless you get a CL that's over $100, which is probably what you meant. So those would get $20 off. $99.99 -15.00 = $84.99 $100-119.99 - 20 = $80.00 to 99.99 The microguide models would fall under $25 off.

Update, Update!! Carbonlite Rods!
So the black ones will be at about $60 each, then!! Hmm, darn good price to pick up some actions I don't have.......

First, welcome aboard. Second, I only use leaders, and the max fluoro I use is 12 pounds. For stronger needs like flipping I use 15 pound Yo-Zuri Hybrid. Others will chime in. My primary is to wish you a welcome to the forums.

Bps Carbonlite Heads Up!
Plus a rod trade-in, that could present a very nice deal.... hmmm. I'm really wanting to feel the new ones before I buy another CL (black) model. But I really like the black, soooo.... "Honey, I know there's no reel on those rods. YET! But they were on SALE and I couldn't pass it up!" Wife to me:

Kayak Pfd
I have been using the BPS Ascend fishing kayak PFD for several years now. I "skimped" on price, but to be very honest, it is NOT a skimpy PFD. It is quite good and I wear it all the time. Now, it is showing signs of wear, and in need of replacing in the next year or two, in which time I'll be faced with the decision to replace it... But realize it may be less expensive than the Stohlq... but it will keep you afloat just as well.
