  1. I agree they have their place. I personally prefer underspin as opposed to reels like the Zebco 808, Omega, which sit on top like a bait caster. But I agree they do not last as long, per se. I don't hear of many sending them in for repair, either - or upgrades, maybe because they're less repairable? The Omega, though, that's a pretty slick reel. Bill Dance did an episode where he and his guest only used Omega reels and caught some pretty sweet bass.
  2. Year old, hardly used - I agree with potential knot slippage. The braid will still have a slick coating (depending on the brand and type), which could be at issue. Also, are you talking 10, 20, 30 pound test (or higher)? Or the even thinner 5-8 pound test braid? I'm going to assume the former as I don't know many who use under 10 lb test braid. Reason I ask is whether or not you have a massive hookset or not. I tried 6 lb braid once. Broke on me all the time, LOL.

  8. Hi Anthony, welcome aboard!
  9. I've not used Nanofil, but you'll get plenty of responses. Let me be the first to welcome you to the forums, though! Welcome aboard!
  10. Wow, rough conditions, but you were rewarded rather nicely by the Snake!
  11. Start 'em early!! Lovely little lady, Josh.
  12. Grab a long pole (no reel), try carp fishing like they do in Europe. You'll be back to bass fishing in no time Awesome fish, though, seriously. That would push me on to fish for yet another lunker. There's always a bigger one out there for ya to catch.
  13. Indeed. I'm wondering if I just had a bad experience with the one given the immense praise most give these.
  14. Welcome aboard, Kyle!
  15. She's got a fat tummy! Awesome!
  16. I've had two 6'3" rods, only one is still that length, the previous-gen cork handled Shimano Compre. Great rod, durable as all get out, light. The other, an Avid. Brittle is how I'd classify it. It's down around 5'9" now. I will eventually replace it under the warranty, but I'm leery of another Avid at this point.
  17. Modified Albright won in head-to-head over on Knot Wars... FWIW (Your Mileage May Vary)
  18. Uni-to-uni is easier to tie, IMO, but the Albright is a better knot, slimmer, and wicked strong. I tie the Albright (technically a modified Albright) with about 10-17 wraps up the line, 6-10 wraps back down depending on the diameter of the line (and if it is a slick line, the slicker the line, the more wraps).
  19. Welcome, Nolan!
  20. Hi Chance, welcome aboard!
  21. I use copoly and pure fluoro for leaders. Mostly use copoly - and P-Line Floroclear at that - over pure fluoro. Yo-Zuri is fine, I use the green, but realize the pound test + diameter are higher/thicker than other brands. As well, the heavier you get, you can still get coils if you use a long leader. I discovered just how coily 15lb YZH is with a 6' leader. Darn strong, though. P-Line Floroclear in 15 lb is my fave "heavier" leader. Plus I like P-Line's coloring better. Just my opinion. You'll be fine with YZH.
  22. Welcome aboard, Michael!
  23. Welcome to the forums, Josh!
