  1. Very interesting, Ern. Haven't had the binding issue with any of my Shimano reels so far.

  6. First: GO USA!!! (watching match) I like Gamakatsu brand best. But I haven't tried them all so cannot comment on all. Brands I like: Gammy, BPS XPS, Daiichi, others... Things I like, for instance, with Gammy hooks is the eye is 99.9% of the time free of sharp or "non-smooth" parts which rub against a snell knot's pass through. I've tied snells and when tightening it down the line simply snaps. I recently bought some Daiichi and some of the hooks have bad eyes. Fine for a clinch or palomar, but not a snell. This may mean nothing to you, but it's just what I've found to be the case. BPS XPS hooks are good, but I find they can go dull and need to be sharpened. Can't beat them for the price in the 25 packs, though.
  7. Excellent catch!
  8. I'll say 2.5-2.75 Congrats!
  9. I've got both, but I use copoly 95% of the time. I have more faith in it, fewer unexplained breaks, etc. With Fluoro you have to be vigilant in checking your line often. If you have the money try some of both, only then can you really decide what you'll like best.

  17. Hey y'all- Any advice for tackling the shallow White Lake, NC? Family vacation... South East side of the lake. I've fished it before, couple/few years back, had some good success with a 3 and 5 pounder under docks among numerous bass caught. Also done some online research this time going in. Experience so far: Yellow perch are the dominant bait stealers, bait chasers, etc. Caught a few, plus a nice sized sunfish. One of my boys caught a 3# LMB, I had at least a 3 or 4# on the line which spit the hook jumping clear out of the water just off my yak - again. No, wasn't a swimbait this time. LOL. Using soft plastics, seems like watermelon colors getting hit/catching everything, no other color/combos getting action. Small spinnerbaits get hit and followed, nothing else. Nothing on swimbaits, cranks, rattletraps, etc. So we've had success, and all has been in the no-wake zone in the grass on the bottom. Nothing from under, or around docks. Granted, I probably need to be out at night and in the early AM, but I don't have lights on any of the yaks, so safety first, and I am keeping us all in the no wake zones given the boaters, skiiers on the lake. Thanks in advance!

    Very cool, man!
  21. Nice fish! But what's with all the blacking out of stuff? Trying to hide where ya caught it?!
  22. Welcome aboard! Lived in Jersey for 4 years of my life. Good years they were
  23. I vote for two kayaks, or a single hybrid for two (like a Native Ultimate, or similar yak). As said, cheaper is 1 canoe. More versatile would be 2 kayaks for (as said), fishing alone.
