  1. Welcome aboard, Bob!
  2. Funny, I actually like the amplified sound outta my case. Are you talking about sound while in the orange life jacket, or the case in general? Ended up getting a new iPhone 5 Fre case this week after my other one succumbed to user error. These newer ones (with the touch-compatible home button) are SO much better than the previous version.
  3. Welcome aboard!
  4. Another Stik-O fan here. I even made a point to develop confidence in them once by taking nothing but a few bags of Stik-Os with me, nothing else. I fished them wacky, fell in love with the Pepper Frog Hot Orange color - a laminate with green and orange colors. Bass killed them that day, and ever since. The other color that is awesome: watermelon magic. Certain colors may work better for you, but I definitely think they're worth trying. I've got a number of other colors, but these are my favs. Oh, and I mostly fish them in 4 ¼" size, sometimes 5 ⅜" size. For lizards and such, I mostly fish Zoom. Haven't fished any BPS creature that I know of, more or less Berkley stuff that I picked up off clearance. Don't fish any of these as much as Senko/Stik-O style baits.
  5. In fairness, I was 12 or 13 and my Dad brought in a tray of "stuff" for me to try. I was the unsuspecting teen. I took and ate. Thought it was a rubber boot. It was the texture that got me. So it wasn't until, what, maybe last year, that I tried it again. Yeah, I shouldn't put it on the list, it wasn't that bad. Funny thing is, I love sushi, I eat unagi maki, raw tuna, raw ...whetevs. I even ate octopus. No biggie. So if I tried escargot today, I'd probably be fine with it. The others stay on the list, though. No ifs, ands, or buts. LOL
  6. Tripe, escargot, liver, lima beans.
  7. Welcome aboard, Steve! I'll just second what A-Jay said as I've not read the thread in question.
  8. Welcome aboard!
  9. I bought a few bags of a glowing Senko, but really can't remember catching any fish on it. Which is why I don't take them with me now. But any light will recharge these. Yet to try UV, but interested in what I've seen on the web (videos, etc.).
  10. Bill, I've had some braid older than 10 years that I used for a little while, Spiderwire. But haven't had it on reels for the last several years. I'm going on my 3rd year for at least 1 of my reels spooled with 10# Fireline (only 1 reel has this), 2 years PowerPro on another. Others have had to be respooled sooner due to either snags, or other catastrophic mess that had to be cut out.
  11. I have found, in my limited brand experience, that I like some more than others, wish I didn't buy some after I try another, etc. So I might be that guy who, once he's gotten over the bug of trying new brands, settles with one.
  12. Though I haven't used it for saltwater (yet), there are reviews online for its use there: http://www.fishing.net.nz/general-reviews-1/daiwa-lexa-reel-review/ For the life of me I can't find the other one where a guy fights a fish from his kayak out in the wind and waves...
  13. Welcome aboard, Todd! 1992 Grad of UNT, myself
  14. Sounds like you're no worse for the wear, and a good attitude to boot! You + nature = match made in heaven Question is, so the "patch" was 30x30, does that mean it was surrounded by ice? That makes for a durn cold dip in the pond.
  15. Welcome aboard!
  16. I have a 2000SH. It is an excellent reel, still smooth, bail still perfect. You won't be disappointed. No issues with it being splashed, even dunked in fresh water thus far. It compares in smoothness to my Stradics, but a few ounces heavier. Time will tell if it *stays* as smooth as my Stradics
  17. I considered this when I first saw them. What I don't know/haven't seen yet is whether it can be folded down while your in areas with lots of trees, etc. Not just for that reason, but casting as well. One of the reasons I keep my rods laying down in front of me now rather than behind me in rod holders on my crate (which I also no longer use). Looking at it now over at Austin Kayak, it looks like it can fold down as it's on a hinge. So if it could, that'd be a plus.
  18. Welcome to the forum. Lots of good advice to be had here.
  19. Welcome aboard, John!
  20. This pack was in its original pack, sealed, together with several Zoom bags, all in a single gallon zip lock bag. So I'm not sure how it got all moldy. Interesting, nonetheless.
  21. Has anyone ever had a bag of Powerbait worms get white mold all over the worms and inside? Was just checking my bags of ribbon tail worms, the zoom worms are fine, but the Powerbait is moldy, as described. Curious. Yes, I've used at least 2 or 3 of the package. Don't think its gotten wet. If it did, all the Zoom bags did as well, but no mold there.
  22. I have caught one bass with a hook in its mouth. And it was one I snapped off earlier that same day (same hook). What I've been told, read, is that hooks will eventually degrade/rust out. Others with perhaps more experience will have more information.
