  1. Uni-to-uni is a good one. Try doubling up the end of the braid to increase the diameter a bit and give a stronger connection. 5-7 twists should be plenty on either side. http://www.everglades-fishing.com/everglades-fishing/images/knot1.jpg Everybody talks about the "Alberto knot" or modified Albright but I haven't tried it.
  2. Nobody "needs" extra sensitive gear. Run the line over your finger when you're dragging your rig, you'll be fine.
  3. Read this thread, just found it. It should help you out. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1120348381
  4. Carolina Rig is more of a heavy tackle method. Generally, a pretty large weight is used, (up to 1 oz.) with heavy line and a stout rod.
  5. #4 or #6, sometimes a combo of the two...Usually 4's will be fine. Try Gamakatsu Extra Wide Gap or Round Bend hooks, Owner Stinger 31, or Mustad Ultra Point Triple Grip. All three are good. I prefer the Gamakatsu hooks. Some people like to put a dressed treble on the tail, like this- http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/dressed-treble-hooks/
  6. I use the Rapala knot for cranks and jerks. I like to have an oval loop about 1/4 inch across the widest part. I don't know if it makes a huge difference, really. I have caught fish on jerks with the Rapala knot, and also on jerks connected by a snap. I think the snap, while more convenient has a tendency to catch vegetation/slime more readily than the knot. When this is a problem, try the Rapala knot.
  7. i am saying , why put crimp on weights on an Owner twistlock , just makes sense to just buy some beast weighted hooks Maybe he already has a bunch of unweighted hooks, i.e. enough hooks, just not enough weighted ones? Never used the beast, but it looks good to me.
  8. Shimano Citica. The price point is good at around $100. It is not difficult to learn on, and when you become proficient, the quality will not disappoint you.
  9. You definitely need to fish it. The chrome/blue Rat-L-Trap is a classic for good reason. I have not used the bladed one, but the original is a great bait.
  10. Glenn did a video on spinnerbaits where he demonstrated the roll cast. I am trying to dig it up. Perhaps if someone finds it before I do they will post it. Edit- I found it. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1247326108/0
  11. X-Rap in Silver Blue, Glass Ghost, Hot Pink. I also like the jointed Rapala for slow trolling.
  12. It has been a while since you asked. I don't know if this was seen, so here is the other discussion. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1266758919/14
  13. Same idea, the shape is a little different. In terms of lipless cranks, they are all going to be pretty flat sided with the line tie on the back of the bait instead of the nose or lip. A picture is worth a thousand words; click the link for a novel's worth. http://www.***.com/catpage-HBLIPLESS.html
  14. Read this topic- please don't take offense to the title. It is always good to review the basics. http://www.bassresource.com/beginner/fishing_equipment.html Here is another... http://www.bassresource.com/beginner/Fishing-Reels.html
  15. No question, for dedicated t-rig, get the fast action.
  16. Go with your natural colors. Browns and greens. I mostly throw browns like PBJ in clear water. 5/16-3/8. I fish clear water as well, natural is the way to go, but don't be afraid to change it up. I like to have chartreuse on the tips of the trailer; with a craw, dye about 1/2 of the claws and see how it works. I even do it with worms. I think it gets me more bites.

  18. Wow. This is the worst backlash I have had since I first tried a baitcaster. :-[
  19. That was a great post. Absolutely hilarious. Myself, I like dark- regardless of mood.
  20. I have about 6 Saharas. I have never had an issue with them. When I bought most of mine, I got them for $59 each, but this was about two years ago. I think they are a great value at that price. In the $100 range, you might also look at the Shimano Symetre. I cannot speak to the others.

  22. I agree. Larger diameter mono will also be noticeably more buoyant than small diameters. You may not be able to throw a bait as far with heavy mono as you can with light mono, though.
  23. For the record, I didn't bash Quantum once. In fact, I stated that their stuff must be good. I just have not used it. For those of you who don't- just consider punctuation, if for no other reason than it makes your posts easier to read. Thank you. Ok I confess, I have a Quantum Code, but it came to me as a gift. I promise to give it a try.
