  1. I would bump up to a Sahara, minimum. This gets you an aluminum frame in any reel larger than the 1000 size (which is too small anyway) instead of a graphite frame, like the Sedona.
  2. I have never used either one, but I have seen the reels going for 45-60 bucks and I think the rods go for about 30-35 bucks, both on that auction site. I think you did a good job. That would probably be a good large/deep crank bait/small soft swim bait setup. Is it the red colored reel? 5.3:1 I think, if so- large line capacity, too.
  3. For that price point, that is the model I would lean to.
  4. I would get something at least 7' long if you are doing any serious amount of shore/jetty fishing. That length will also benefit your T-rigs, cranks (if you decide to fish them on a fast action rod) and shaky heads. You may have a hard time walking top waters, but I think your best bet is something pretty long. With a price range, I can be more specific.
  5. Pros: It fits in the trunk, closet, travel case, etc. Cons: Some might say you lose sensitivty. This argument is becoming less and less valid in my opinion. You also have to be very careful when it is broken down so as not to damage the now somewhat vulnerable joint. Your selection will also be smaller when shopping for two piece rods. Edit: For those who haven't looked, you can find several VERY high quality two piece rods. One example is the St. Croix Legend Elite series which offers two piece models of some spinning rods.
  6. I like the Trilene XL as well. Recently, I found the 300+ yard spools (330 yd. I think...) on sale in a local sporting goods store at 2 spools for $6. Tough to beat that. Needless to say, I have a pretty big stash of it now.
  7. Try them on one of these in the 1/4 oz. 5/0 size. Just make sure you get them straight on the hook. You didn't hear it from me. :-X
  8. Haha, congrats man! Boy or Girl, or don't want to know yet? Boy. We are pumped.
  9. First one of these... Should be in use around 9/5/10. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Graco-Lauren-4-in-1-Convertible-Classic-Fixed-Side-Crib-Espresso/11081895
  10. More important than an expensive reel in most freshwater scenarios.
  11. I think this is how this question goes... Hey guys, I just got three new rods. One is a 7' MH split-grip Quantum PT Energy, one is a 7' MH Shimano Crucial and the other is a Cabela's MagTouch 6'6" jig and worm rod. I was wondering for which applications these rods would be best suited. I would like to dedicate one to jigs; if you have used these rods please provide your advice.
  12. For the applications you mention, I would definitely go with the BCR803 GLX. 8-)
  13. Funny... I have the 6.4:1 for about a year and would get a 7:1 if I could do it over... I'm finding that as I put more specific combos together I'm finding less purpose for the mid-range speed, I either want fast or slow You should trade.
  14. In that price range, I'd go with the Shimano Clarus line- I think your best bet would be the CSSX60MHA...6' Medium Heavy, Extra Fast, 8-14# line, 1/4-3/4 lures.
  15. I know it is the title, but just to clarify again, this topic has nothing to do with social status. That was not the intent. I am sorry if you took it that way, and trust me I am nowhere close to upper-echelon and never have been. Formal education aside, what is common between us is that we can continue to learn everday despite how long we are removed from school. That is why most of us came to BR in the first place. You have experiences that I (and others I am sure) have not had. Thanks for sharing them, they are making us all wiser.
  16. I agree, the content of a person's character is very important. Character involves carrying yourself a certain way. One definition for character, and the one you are most certainly referencing is "one of the attributes or features that make up and distinguish an individual." When I only have my posts to define me here, and other members are asking of an opinion from me, (and you) I want them to be assured that I am not giving bad advice. One way to be sure of that is to make sure my posts are clear and informed. Spelling and grammar are an important piece of the equation when it comes to convincing others of your knowledge on a topic. Would you be more willing to take trust in an article on an item/product that contained misspelling and grammatical mistakes, or one that was polished, and professionally done? I know you are going to list a ton of your personal experiences with exceptions to this, so fire away... I was raised to be clean shaven for work or church, have polished shoes, and to make sure the placket on my shirt is in line with my belt buckle and the zipper on my pants, too. Since you can't see that on the web, I try to be professional with my posts.

Little fish eat big stuff. Big fish also eat little stuff. The point is, the size of the bait is not always a predictor of the fish size.
  18. Maybe you could give us a brief synopsis? I didn't make you look up that apostrophe stuff.
  19. How about capitalization? Punctuation, too.
  20. In the grand scheme, I am sure these are small things I get frustrated about. I do have a tendency to read most of the boards and a lot of the topics, so I read fast. I hate going back to re-read something because it just didn't sit right in my mind.
  21. Yes, we should. They are used to denote possession, or with contractions. Ex. The cat's meow- (An old fashioned way of saying really cool.) The cats meow- (A group of cats making noise, present tense.) The cats' tails were in danger due to the rocking chair. (Possessive and plural...Tricky, I know.) The board's decision was correct. The boards are the right length. Can't Doesn't You're- (another bad one around here)
