  3. Ever been to Chicago ? I'm from Detroit and there are several Pizzerias that serve deep dish pizzas ( square), I love them and unfortunately there is nothing like it in my area Florida. I was weened on Buddy's, original location 6 mile and Conant, Shields pretty good too. X2 for Buddy's
  4. Nice tiger butt wrap there. Try the Forhan locking wrap on your single foot guides, or do you already? Locks 'em in good. http://www.rodbuilding.org/library/forhan.html
  5. I don't use braid, but find it loads most effectively when casting a spherical plug of about 1.620 ounces. White has been my best color. Ok, back on topic!
  6. Here is my question. I have a carbon steel putter that was treated to prevent rust and finished in a satin black. I do not know how that was done. I do know that some of the black has worn off the sole where the putter contacts the ground. Instead of sending it back to be refinished only to have this happen again, I was wondering if I could do something like... Remove the finish on the entire sole with Scotchbrite, clean with denatured alcohol, then wipe with acetone. Allow that to evaporate. Tint an epoxy or polyurethane black with an automotive pigment, or maybe something like nail polish? or model paint? Apply one coat by foam brush, sand, clean apply another coat, sand, wet sand, polish, buff. Think it'll work?
  7. Yes, but was that grass I just ran through or cabbage? Is the bottom I just bounced off of rocks or sand? Is my tandem willow leaf blade turning at eleventeen rpm, and speaking of my willow leaf blade, is that a zebra mussel clinging to my titanium wire? If those things are important to you, then sensitivity is important. Whether or not those things are important to you, I suppose, depends on your situation. I use an All Star Platinum, 6'6" MXF I got for a song a while back when *** was clearing them out. This handles most of my baits from 1/4 to 3/4 without much problem. I hardly ever throw a 1 oz. spinnerbait. Hahaah, I will just leave this one alone. Go ahead, get after it. It was a joke, anyway. I couldn't tell the difference in those things if was down there looking at 'em. Some people can, and want a really sensitive rod for everything. The point of that post was to say... IT ALL DEPENDS ON PREFERENCE. Now, how do you skin a cat?
  8. Nobody with personal experience? If it helps, I would like to sight fish with spinning tackle for bones and permit.
  9. Is it just me, or did I see this forum heading when browsing from my phone? Am I crazy or...?
  10. Nice fish, where are you?
  11. Thanks Snook, have you been out with any of these guys in particular? I am leery of jumping in without any first-hand account.
  12. I will be back in Miami in a couple weeks and am looking to get out for a day of flats sightfishing for Bones and Permit. It has been awhile since I have been there (college) so I don't have the best up to date info. Can anybody give me a recommendation for a guide that can handle two anglers and might be okay with a weekend trip on two weeks notice? I know, I know...call the Saltwater Experience guys, Tom and Rich- but seriously- any advice would be great. Thanks guys.
  13. If I am playing sports, it is usually golf or softball, so my favorite sports drink is...well...Miller Lite.
  14. At $100, it's a steal. Buy it. And if you don't like it, PM me. I'll give you the $100, plus the shipping costs, plus shipping insurance. I'll put my money where my mouth is on this one. I wish I knew where the dumb-arse idea came from that the Fuego is not good for light weight baits. I have four of them. I put new line on them this weekend, in prep for a trip. Had them out on the water yesterday, making sure I was good to go. Had one rigged up with a 3" tube, 1/0 light-wire EWG hook, and a 1/16oz internal clip weight. The whole bait weighs in at about 1/8oz. No problems casting this. I can put it where I want it. Ditto for another rigged with a 1/32oz Gammy Wacky jighead, and 4" 3X french fry. I doubt this bait rig weighs much more than 1/16oz. Again, no casting problems. What line? Just curious.

  16. Talk about some common mistakes and give a few examples of how to remedy them. Some people learn better by hearing what to do, others learn by hearing what NOT to do. Talk about the finer points of what makes it work, like the the physics in the action of the rod, and the spools inertia, etc. You could go on for quite a while about that...at least until your audience falls asleep... ;D Maybe talk about the evolution of the baitcaster and the resulting changes in techniques.
  17. Where do I send my application... ...to narrate his next video? :D CRAAAZY
  18. Sometimes it can be for SM on St. Clair, but not LM anywhere that I know of.
  19. I got two just 'cause of this review back when they were $25. (Free shipping over $50 from TW is why I have two.) Initial thoughts...
  20. Shimano Compre Spin Rod 6'8" Medium XFast- CPS-X68MB 3/16-5/8oz Line Weight: 6-12 lbs. $109.99 8-)
  21. I smell some good deals on carbon steels in the flea market cooking...
  22. Yes, fall too. As it cools down, the X-Raps, Pointers and lipless baits come back out, and the jigs, tubes, worms, drop shot baits, etc. get packed up. I am not saying those don't work, I just think fishing moving baits is more fun for smallmouth.
  23. X-Raps are great in the spring. I get a lot of hits on that same lure. As it gets a litter warmer, slow down a bit and try these. http://www.***.com/Yamamoto_Senko/descpage-YAS.html#multiview
  24. Now we're talking...One of those fly in trips to a remote part of Canada. If you are seriously thinking about this, the best places for trophy pike are in Saskatchewan. http://www.northernpikefishing.ca/
