Recommended uses for 7' ML casting rod?
It's funny you ask because I just purcased a E21 Gold Carrot stik 7' ML and put a Orange Amber Daiwa Pixy on it. It is a deadly senko, fluke, and shakey head rod. You can feel every little bump and gravel on the bottom. The best part about it is the weight. This thing feels like you are holding nothing in your hands. My suggestion is buy a pixy then call Smooth Drag and get the drag upgrade mount it on that rod and you will have a killer combo.

PFD Discussion
I wear an inflatable all the time but a word of advice from experience. If you buy one go for the more expensive one that doen't inflate with moisure alone and has the hydrolic pressure sensor. The cheaper auto inflatables will inflate in you storage boxes when the humidity gets high like during a heavy rain and inflate which will then scare the crap out of you. Oh and they are almost impossible to get out till they deflate some.

Revo Drag Upgrade and Service
The point of feathering a reel with your thumb seemed to me because the reel was incapable of producing enough drag that was smooth enough not to break the line. This might have been ok in 1950 but with the products we have today why would you have the want or the need to do it. If I spend 300 or 600 on a reel and I have to thumb the spool to keep the drag from slipping I would be P*#@ed. If you have the chance to improve a product, why not? All sports equipment has improved over the years in every sport. I don't think you'll see Tiger hitting a leather ball full of boiled feathers or Nascar racing on Bias Ply tires that they shaved the tread off of in the barn. Do you? I say make your equipment function as well as you possibly can that way when you loose a fish you can't blame it on the reel. JMHO

TW REEL DEMO
If you are buying a $100 dollar reel it probably isn't worth it but if you are choosing between 4 reels that are $300 each you can try all of them out for $20 vs paying $1200 to get one of each to try. It seems like a no brainer to me. I wish I had done this before buying some of the reels I have. I finally have them to fishthe way I like but it has taken an additional $100-$150 per reel to upgrade the drag and bearings to get the feel I like when I could have just bought a different reel and got the same thing out of the box.

115 Squad Minnow produces the best for me.

What are you most happy about that you added to your boat?
Just a warning: I have one of these and it has cost me alot more than my boat ever thought of costing. By the way apparently these depreciate alot too because if you try to trade one in you may have to pay on it for years even though you no longer have it in your possesion. ;D

Mask
Save Phace makes a paintball mask that looks exactly the same. The difference is the mask for boats doesn't have air vents in the face area and the seal around the eye area is closed cell foam instead of a light open foam. This makes no difference in the summer but if you fish when the temps are below 30 and you're running 70mph vents are BAD. I looked a few options and I think the Save Phace is by far the best.

Revo Premier 2010 vs. Revo STX vs. Daiwa Zillion vs. Shimano Curado
Boy this really proves what I said about you have to decide what feels best to you. 3 responses and three different picks. I think it is best to fish them then decide. I would hate to spend $200 to $300 on a reel then decide it wasn't what you wanted.

Revo Premier 2010 vs. Revo STX vs. Daiwa Zillion vs. Shimano Curado
I can give my opinion on the Revos and Zillions because I have both. They are both excellent reels but I like the zillion better than any of the Revo line. They just feel better in my hand when I palm them. I think the best thing to do is get a demo from TW and fish each of them then decide. I have not bought a curado because as soon as I picked it up It just felt too big in my hand. As I said before they are all quality products but nobody can tell you what will feel best to you.

Mask
Only in cold weather if you wear glasses like I do. Oh and it's not the mask that fogs up it's the glasses. The lenses on the masks are very fog resistant.

Mask
I keep 2 Save Phace masks in my boat all the time. They are great in the winter but they also are a forehead saver when a down pour comes and you need to head to a new spot. I wouldn't fish without them.

Optima Battery VS. Acid Battery ( Life Span )?
I guess I am on the opposite end of that. I have 3 optima's in my boat and have never had an ounce of problems. I may tommorrow but for now I love them and they seem to stay charged on the trolling motor longer than the Interstates I replaced.

A bait you hate to use
I was shocked when I saw nobody had mentioned my 2 most hated. 1. Float-n-Fly... I'm just saying watching paint dry and grass grow is almost as exciting and you don't have to do either one of those in 20 degree weather. 2. Silver Buddy.... This is the only lure that can get hung on everything it even gets close to touching. I am pretty sure this lure was an evil plot by a fisherman to get his competition to stay hung all day while he fished.

Worst Lure ever bought?
When I was young I would buy any lure I saw on TV because they always caught fish on TV. I saved my money from chores so I could buy some flying lures, Banjo minnows, etc. but the absolute worst was a topwater lure I bought that looked like a minnow but it was a hard bait. The minnow was laying on its side with the hooks on the bottom. It had a pull string that was where you tie to the lure to your line. When you would give the lure a quick jerk it would wind the lure up and its tail would flop up and down on the water. It was suppose to look like an injured fish but it really didn't. I am pretty sure that is the worst lure ever.

Bassmaster Classic Day 3 Behind The Scenes - Video
I wonder how many others have that burning sensation when they pee. Man Swindle makes me LMAO. Great video. Thanks Glenn. I hope Pam Martin Wells decides to fish all the tx's this year she has some skills.

pro qualifier rain suit
I personally wear the BPS 100MPH suit but my fishing partner has the Pro Qualifier. They are both good suits but yes they are warm. I have a cheap thin rainsuit I use in the hot summer months because I really don't care if it leaks a little when it's 95 outside. As for the jacket or parka, I like the parka better because it doesn't ride up when I am running from spot to spot in a seated position. You may have a different opinion because it is a little bulky but I don't think you will be unsatisfied with that suit.

the bait monkeys got me
I am a true believer in Smelly Jelly Bass Feast. I use it on all jigs and Shakey Heads.

Superstions?
It has cost me a couple of fish but I will not allow the net out of the box till the first fish is hooked. After that I will leave it out. There is probably nothing to it but it seems every time I get it out before that the fish won't bite. I also usually try to make my first cast where I think there is no chance of getting bit. We all have our quirks I guess.

Why KVD?
Two words for ya "John Daly". While smoking on his way from tee to tee and drinking enough to get put in rehab he finished higher than he does now that he is "sober". Like I said not that I agree with it but it is not a physically demanding sport. Have you seen some of the well tuned bodies in these "sports". I think the pros are very talented at what they do and mentally they are as tough as they come but physically they are not fine tuned athletes.
-
Why KVD?
I don't know about the steroids but I did hear he was spotted at GNC buying a huge bottle of Fish Oil. LOL All jokes aside KVD is an amazing angler. Why? Most of us will never know how he can do what he can. I saw some say it was some degree of luck. Luck is when an average guy stumbles on a pattern and beats a more prepared one. There is no luck with KVD it is all a well executed plan. Now to get to the "sport" argument, my grandfather used to say that anything you can do while smoking a cigar and drinking a six pack is not a sport. This rules out golf, bowling, fishing, and a few others we call sports. I am not saying I agree but he did have a little bit of a point.

KVD Rod Setup in Classic
There was plenty more in there besides a comma- that said, I have no issues with you, Turtle. I am just saying an argument is more effective/credible when it is delivered intelligently. I have never used a Quantum. They may be great. I don't know. What I do know is that I would be more apt to try one if the person trying to persuade me made a compelling educated argument. Several others make compelling arguments, TourPT does not. KVD is the man, others said it before and I agree. He seems to have no issues with the equipment. I do not know what the terms of his contract are, but he catches fish on those Quantums.

Does dominance help the sport?
I think it does help the sport. I agree there is usually a dominate player in all sports and whether people like them or not they show up to see them. Some want to see him win and some just want a close up of him falling on his face. I like KVD but if I were to pick a favorite it would have to be Skeet. So I guess I'm one that shows up to see him loose but man you don't get to see it often.
