  1. That Powell does a great job at cranks and spinnerbaits Don't know about the Veritas, but I am more and more intrigued the more I hear about them.
  2. Just answering kind of thinking out loud, but if it has a nylon cushion inside the hood everything should be ok, but realize that I have no idea, as I've never seen one up close. Regarding the white rods in the series, they do seem to use real quality guides. Titanium SIC's on a production rod for $100. 8-) I can't imagine that the rest of the components are of inferior quality.
  3. I have no idea what that means. I find weight behind the reel makes rods feel lighter when fishing. A lot of saltwater rods are built using this and similar techniques. I agree with reason. If anything the added weight of the epoxy grip will make the rod feel more balanced. It came out really nice. If you palm your reel most of the time the grippiness shouldn't be an issue. I like it.
  4. Leave the rod, have a blast. 90210 won't have too many city park lakes.
  5. Off subject, but if your ponds are clear enough for a backcast you could always flyfish for them. Big wooly buggers, poppers, zonkers, streamers, damsels, dragonflies... Lug that and a spinning rod you'll be able to make a day out of it.
  6. Not so great as a fnf rod either. My friend used one for a season. Way heavier than your typical fnf rods, and the construction of the tip section of the blank could not handle the load of the bobber and fly while making a long cast. His broke during a cast. I won't say it snapped, but unraveled, in a graphite spiral just above the ferrule. Silstar makes a Versitex? FNF rod that is pretty inexpensive ($40...?)and seems very popular around these parts.
  7. x2 Bargain Cave fodder. Depending on if/when they end up in the bargain cave and how much they ask 50% off ? Then I might buy one.
  8. Try to find some active fish using a crankbait slowly, bumping the bottom or some cover. It might keep you warmer than fishing a jig painfully slow. If the water's clear, try a float and fly.
  9. How about a Powell? Little bit over 125, but there's a good deal in the flea market.
  10. Whatever the case, they both catch fish, but I don't consider my Lucky Crafts to be expendable like the h20's. I'll throw them into the thickest brush and not worry about them like the Lucky Crafts.
  11. LoL probably doesn't make a sound he looks like the silent but deadly type to me ;D Just imagine what Mike Iaconelli sounds like???
  12. At 1:35 I hear a whirr from the cast. I don't hear the bait rattling like a spray can, or a baby rattle.
  13. If you are fishing traps in the grass I don't think a med power will get the job done. At least a mh. I use a 7'10" moderate fast heavy for rattle baits in the grass.
  14. Some guys use the smallest zip ties as well.
  15. Two STX 20's will cover your finesse needs very nicely. 15lb Sufix braid works really well on those reels for me.
  16. Love your trees don't you. I, like many others like to browse its pages while I'm "thinking".
  17. I don't think you'll be disappointed with the PQ. You might be pleasantly surprised. Great reel for the money.
  18. Do they have an insert in them?
  19. X2 Slit the belly and skin hook it, on a weighted swimbait hook with a springlock.
  20. The power handle that BPS sells will swap out with the stock handle if you are looking for a longer handle. Be sure to take the bearings out of the stock handle.
  21. It is a direct swap. I don't know how much Pure Fishing will charge, but the main and pinion gears from a BPS Pro Qualifier will also fit. It might be less expensive.
  22. Also has the aluminum main gear and worm gear. PQ Tournament doesn't have the carbon handle.
