  1. I've had success on that color in the Skeet Mini DR this past fall. I didn't know that it came in that color on their pointers. Thanks for pointing it out!
  2. What other trailers does anyone else use on these? Do you thread it in the hook or just hook it through the body?
  3. They are nice reels for the money. It is one of my last BPS reels in my possession. BTW they aren't new, I've had mine for about a year and a half. Before the carbonlite came out, which I believe is the same reel except for the carbon fiber handle and paint job.
  4. Got that right! 6" straight tail worm, oxblood or bold bluegill.
  5. Want to sell upwards of a dozen rods. I don't want to overcharge for shipping, but I do not want to lose money either. I would like to factor it into a tyd price, and adjust the price for multi purchases. How many casting and/or spinning rods fit into a certain size tube? PVC or cardboard, depending on qty. I'm not looking for exact numbers, but a close ballpark figure would really help me out. Thanks Hopefully a bunch of Powells coming up...
  6. Pro Q has 2 bearings in the handle and 2 nylon bushings, also none on the levelwind. Which could be increased to two, with the addition of a different levelwind tube. So if you wanted to, you could increase bearing count by 4.
  7. I like the H2O Express CRS. Their low price and nice paint jobs work really well for me. Lets me throw them into some cover that I would be hesitant to throw an expensive bait into. Plus they catch fish.
  8. I've been using two of them for about six weeks and I can't seem to put them down. One I use for small cranks and jerkbaits spooled up with 10lb fluoroclear. The other I have been using for everything from weightless plastic, texas rigs, shakyheads, and finesse jigs. I love the small size of these reels, and casting light lures is no problem.
  9. You are absolutely correct! Why is it wrong to not allow a non boater to gps your spots? Granted they are on public waters, where no one owns the lake, but how about doing your own legwork and research to find your own hotspot? With all the tools that are available to fishermen in this day and age people have gotten so lazy that good fishing and being able to push a button and call it their own has blurred the fact that someone took you there. No need for them to mark a dotted line and X marks the spot far anyone. Fishing points and bank beating aside, if you can relocate offshore structure by memory and land ranges, then more power to you. Leave the gps at home and get back to it by memory alone, graph it out, then record all the waypoints you want. Figure it out for yourself and become a better angler. In that way you have made the spot yours.
  10. How about bouncing the bottom with a lipped crankbait. Put it close enough to some fish you may be able to pick off some of the aggressive fish.
  11. If I know I'm going to be froggin, toads or hollow bodies, for a good part of the day, I'll bring two identical rods with 50-65 lb braid on each. The same rod for either, hollow or soft. 7' 10" custom frog rods. It's a nice day when those are the only 2 you grab for all day.
  12. Use to have pretty much the same. 6 Fuegos, 2 Sols, 1 Alphas. Now 2 Fuegos, 2 Sols, 2 Curado 50's, 1 Core 50, 2 '10 Premiers and a Winch. My spinning reels are Daiwas and Sorons. Unused reels right now are 2 Fuegos, Alphas, Revo SX, 2 PQ's, and a BPS Pro Finesse.
  13. I like split grips only because I like the way it looks. Just as long as there is no foregrip.
  14. It may be the knot. A palomar is a very strong knot, but if it is not tightened down correctly has been known to cut into itself and cause failure.
  15. My vote for shallow to mid depth cranks is 6.4:1. I use to use slower reels for all my cranking, but 6 foot even up to 12 foot cranks don't put up that much resistance that a 6.4:1 gear ratio will wear you out. I found that that is easier to slow down with a faster reel than to try to burn a bait in with a 5:1. It will also make fishing jerkbaits and spinnerbaits a lot easier, should the need arise. For deep cranks however you will have to pry the slower Winch mounted on a 7'11 custom cranking rod from my hands.
  16. The STX from TW is a lefty and the older version. I don't think it has the dual braking, but if either doesn't matter to you, I don't think you'll be disappointed with the Revo.
  17. Just what I was thinking. I'm in the process of replacing all my trebles to KVD's
  18. I have found that Powell rods power ratings are somewhat on the lighter side, but definitely do not lack power. They really are great rods and the 704C is probably one of the most versatile in it's lineup. Enjoy your new rod.
  19. Come to think of it, most if not all of my lost fish were on baits that I didn't switch to KVD trebles. Time to get more.
  20. ...And the person fishing it. Biggest variable there is. So true.
  21. I trust the knots that I tie. I'm not going to avoid using an effective technique because it involves more than one knot. Like others have already stated, line fray or snags more often lead to lost rigs than knot failure. IMO the knots aren't the weakness.
  22. Thanks for taking the time to write this up. I am not a jig fisherman and although I see some heavy hitters in my area that almost exclusively fish them, I just cannot catch a fish on one. Maybe I'll take your approach and try to fish just jigs until I can figure something out. You must have a slow oven. Writing what you did would have taken me a long time.
  23. Those boxes are nice, but I don't think I'd have room to store it. When you rubber band the trebles do they still tangle up, or not as badly? I'm leaning towards getting bonnets and just throwing them in a Plano box. Only thing is if I put them on all of my jerks and cranks I'll need a LOT of them. Guess it beats wasting time trying to untangle the mess. Thanks everyone.
