  1. When I fish with spinnerbaits, I'm using 3/8 to 3/4 oz baits and fishing it around rocks or other heavy cover, or slow rolling them close to the bottom. I'm usually fishing 15 fluoro or 12 if it's not too hairy. With those smaller baits 8 should be ok as long as the cover isn't that bad. Just my .02. Where in socal are you?
  2. 8# for cranks is fine. Maybe too light for the spinnerbaits though.
  3. For less expensive reels I am pretty fond of BPS reels. I got my daughter a Prolite Finesse reel when they were on sale/clearance last year and I am really impressed with it. I just got a 5.2-1 Pro Qualifier for a cranking reel and can cast a Strike King Series 3 (1/4oz) way further than I did with my Revo Winch.
  4. You shouldn't be disappointed with your considerations. I don't have any experience with the Loomis rods, but have a grip of Powells. The 2 power rods (682 702) are pretty similar to the 3 powered rods. 681 for dropshot/split shot and 703 for other spinning uses (shakeyheads/flukes/senkos) works pretty well for me. I have a 681, 702 and 703 w/Soron 20's with 10 and 15 lb braid and love them all.
  5. I agree, 15 or even 10lb sufix braid works great on my spinning gear. BPS fluoro is good stuff, comparably priced to other lines though, but when you're using 6-8 feet at a time for leaders, 200 yards will go a long way.
  6. It's not the cost of doing business. It's not a business at all. Isn't that against board rules? No one is going to get rich and retire selling one or ten used outfits. If a seller wants to get rid of an unused reel and wants to accept paypal, the seller should be the one to absorb that cost. I steer clear of those that want payments as a gift too. Both parties are protected when it is a sale. (I think) It's not a business, it's a private sale. Paypal is a convenience and sometimes you just have to eat the cost.

I can't do without a 4inch curlytail worm in oxblood red flake when I'm split shotting.
  8. BPS gear sets will fit in a REVO? Are you positive about this? I could get a 4.7:1 gearset and turn my Unused REVO SX's into deeep crankers? 8-)
  9. I like them a lot. I use them for worming, jerkbaits, jigs, weightless plastic. I liked them so much that after I got my first, then I got my second, then my third, fourth, fifth and sixth. Replaced most of my REVOS except the Winch and two SX's that are going to be let go soon. Kind of want to sell off my 2 TD SOL's as well. Maybe if I sell those three off I could get a Zillion Crazy Cranker, or more realistically a BPS Pro Qualifier 5-1 and pay off some of the credit card balance. :-/ Those Fuegos are nice reels.
