  1. I ran into a few of these types of teachers when I was in college. Pretty much in every case they were tenured teachers. This is what happens to someone when the threat of them being fired for poor performance is taken away. My favorite teachers in college were the young ones who still had a passion to teach.
  2. Thanks. Turns out that was the ramp my buddy and I launched from the other day. I was hoping you knew of a different one. We turned south at the "crossroads" and fished down up to the 95 overpass. Next time maybe we'll just keep going west.
  3. I use keel weighted hooks all the time. I just never used it in conjuction with a bullet weight.
  4. Just curious, does anyone ever use a Texas rig with a keel weighted bait. I never tried it but I was thinking of ways to get a swimming bait deeper in the water column when the current is a little swift. I don't like using real heavy bullet weights unless I'm punching.
  5. How far west were they caught? Also, where is that boat ramp you mentioned? I was recently fishing the canal south of Boyton Beach Blvd and a woman who lived on the canal told me she's seen Peacocks.
  6. In low light conditions, which is when I use a Black/Blue jig, I go with a pure Black trailer. What Rage baits will be available in this color? I assume your discussion here is about Craws but I'd love to see this color for Anacondas and Big Thumpers. Still would prefer worms being available in pure black though.
  7. The League still needs a few more players.
  8. Panama. You can fish the Atlantic and Pacific both in the same day.
  9. If you want to find out if there are in deed big bass in there try throwing one of those live sunfish you get. I don't usually fish live bait for bass because I consider it feeding fish rather than catching fish. However, it's a great method to get an idea of how big the fish are.
  10. If its a 12+ team league then I might be interested depending on the settings and draft date.
  11. I'm going to disagree with this statement. Go back and look at his fantasy totals down the stretch. They were on par with the rest of his incredible season as well as putting up a monster performance in Week 15 vs NYG, which is the week of my league's semi-final matchup. His worst scoring game that he started (according to my league's scoring system) was Week 11. Oddly enough that was also against the Giants. They didn't figure out anything the 2nd time around, more like Vick figured them out. Of course Philly rested him in Week 17 but if your league uses Week 17 then you need to find a new league, especially if that's when your championship game occurs.
  12. Caught on a Senko (323). Caught a bunch of smaller ones too but this guy was a suprise coming out of my condo lake.
  13. 10'' Anaconda - Texas rigged, keel weighted - Big Tex color or Big Tex dyed BLACK. (If you actually made it in BLACK I would probably buy more than I do now.) 7'' Anaconda - Texas rigged, keel weighted, ChatterFrog trailer - Big Tex, Big Tex dyed BLACK, Watermelon/Red Craw - Texas rigged, keel weighted, jig or ChatterFrog trailer - Black/Blue, Amber/Green/Black, Watermelon/Red Space Money - Texas rigged, keel weighted, jig trailer - Black/Blue, Big Tex
  14. Gander Mountain starts their Senkos at $6.99 but they seem to always be reduced further. Last sale flyer had buy 3 get 1 free. The current flyer that just came out has them at 20% off. I've stopped using Senkos for wacky rigging (don't use an o-ring) because of lack of durability. Recently I've been substituting stick baits by Big Bite Baits and Yum. Next time I'm in the store I'm grabbing a pack of Net Bait. I hear they have about the same amount of salt in them as Senkos and you get much more in the pack.
  15. I'd probably go with Silver with a Black top, maybe with a White belly.
  16. I'm a sceptic in a lot of cases too. I was with this as well until I decided to actually try it.
  17. I know I'm bringing up an old topic but I'd like to add to it. This weekend a couple of friends and myself were down in the Keys fishing. One of our runs was a full moon Snapper run. The day before I informed them that I had the "secret weapon" for fishing at night and low light depths, UV-Blast. Of course, I heard it after that. We were fishing in about 70-65 feet of water and the moon was shining bright. A few hours later I had my cooler almost filled with a variety of Snapper species. My friends, on the other hand, only landed a few each. We were fishing the same set ups, yellow hair jig with a Silverside trailer. The only difference was that mine was coated with UV-Blast. Sure enough, after I reminded them of this fact they begged for a shot of it. Just like clockwork, they started hooking up after applying the spray. Their mockery of the product soon morphed into jovial approval. You can be sceptical and say it was just luck that I outfished both of them combined or you can take note that the UV-Blast actually works.
  18. Welcome aboard from a former LIer.
  19. Rubber bobber stops for me. I always have the opition of moving it up the line if I don't want it pegged for that particular cast.
  20. I didn't have much luck the other day with these. The eyes fell off once I applied Mega-Strike to it. I'll stash these away until the bass are on beds next Spring.
  21. I use Boone duo-locks in sizes 3 and 2. Been good to me so far. I don't think it's the difference in whether or not a Bass hits or not. Can't catch fish if you're re-tying all the time. Quick change on the cranks is key.
  22. I like the back end of a Swimsenko. Best re-use of a bait, IMO.
  23. Thanks, very helpful vids. Can't wait to try them out in the morning.
  24. Just picked up a pack in the Wild Shiner color. Anyone here have success with them? If so, how are you rigging them?
  25. I've used both baits successfully. As far as colors, try one dark, one light and one natural. For me that's Black, White and Green.
