  1. You can get a portable 360 degree light that takes 2 D batteries for about $20 in most sporting goods stores. I slip mine into a spare rod holder in my crate.
  2. It's not a movie but it should be. Try reading Carl Hiaasen's "Double Whammy".
  3. Right now most of my reels are spooled with 8#, 10# or 12# Floroclear. I've tried it up to 20# and have been satisfied. When I lived in FL I would use the CXX for my inshore fishing. It's a tougher line but you trade manageability for that. I've never tried CX.
  4. Try some Megastrike on them. The bass may hold onto the bait longer.
  5. 10 inch Power Worm and the 3 inch Chigger Craw are my favorite Berkley baits. I still slather them in Megastrike even though they have a stank of their own. My Zoom Flukes get the same treatment.
  6. Chris Stapleton - "When the Stars Come Out" Been listening to that whole Traveller album over and over. Not a weak song on it. Pumped to see him in June.
  7. The bait I've caught the most fish on so far this year is a $3 jerk bait I got on closeout a few years ago on TW. I don't even know the name of it. Meanwhile, my Livingstons are doing squat. Lost one a few weeks ago and felt butthurt. Lost a Rapala DT6 this week. Didn't feel that bad.
  8. Lipless: XCalibur, Spro Squarebill: Strike King Med-Deep: Rapala Jerks: Rapala
  9. I've recently moved from South Florida to East Tennessee. While in FL I targeted and consistently caught LMB in freshwater. Here in TN I want to do the same but with SMB.That is my main goal of the year. I have had a hard time of it so far. In my handful of excursions so far I've caught LMB, Spotted Bass, Crappie, White Bass, Striped Bass and Black Drum as well as a snagged Carp that took me for a Nantucket Sleigh-ride....but no Smallies. I know I need to start thinking like a Smallmouth in order to catch them. Right now I'm reading In-Fisherman's book on Smallmouth. Their book on LMB helped me immensely so I hope this one will do the same. This year I also decided to become a kayak fisherman. Figured with no gators or sharks it's safe now. (Go ahead call me a wuss, lol.) My other goal is to become skilled and knowledgable at what it takes to become a proficient kayak fisherman. So far this is progressing fine though this week the Tennessee River plus a bunch of wind kicked my butt a bit.
  10. XCalibur Rattle Bait Xr25 Chrome/Black It was also my first fish I caught since I moved to Tennessee.
  11. Picked up a milk crate bag that has 2 additional rod holders on it. Still need to get the crate itself. After taking her out I can see how important an anchor is. I was drifting all over the place. As for fish slime, well, I'm working on it. I recently moved here to East Tennessee from South Florida. I'm used to fishing pads, weeds and slop. Now I'm dealing with rocks and timber. I love the challenge of the new environment.
  12. Took her on her maiden voyage this week. She's an Emotion Mojo 12'5". I don't have her accessorized yet. What do you guys consider to be the most important additions/mods?
  13. Producto Tournament Worms float. Seems like I'm always recommending these worms - love 'em. They make other products that I haven't tried yet that may or may not float.
  14. I had this problem when I dipped my Swimming Senkos in Spike It. The bait would practically disintegrate over time. I switched back to Spike It markers and haven't really had the same problem since.
  15. I'd have to take a cold shower after that.
  16. [sarc on] As a particularly tall person I find the team named the Giants to be offensive. You think it's easy being tall? Try shopping for clothes or trying to fit into a sports car and never mind counting the times you bump your head on low hanging objects. Just think of the outrage if a team was called the midgets. In a seperate incident anyone who has a prison record and has the last name of White, Brown or Black will be required to change their name. [sarc off] I respect RGIII a little more for his comments. However, I don't respect him for stealing Rex Grossman III's initials as a moniker.
  17. Lyle Lovett Townes Van Zandt kd Lang Willie Nelson Johnny Cash
  18. "Fishing Blues" by Taj Mahal Last year I really got into the song "Fisherman" by the Peach Kings. Not really a true fishing song though. The term fisherman is a metaphor for a pick up artist who feeds women lines. Lol. Some others popped into my mind too. "Fishing" by Widespread Panic. "4:50 AM (Go Fishing) by Roger Waters "The Fishing Song" by G Love There's actually many many songs with that title.

I come across forage that have red in them. Shiners sometimes have a red tint in their fins. (Houdini colored baits are big down here.) Noticed Redear Sunfish beds the other day. We also have different types of Tilapia that have red somewhere on them.
  20. A master, possibly. He's very commanding of his instrument. I don't quite put him on the Buckethead level though.
  21. It all starts at the top. As long as Jerry Jones is bent on trying to be the smartest guy in the football world the Cowboys will fail. Has there really been a great Dallas draft since Jimmy Johnson left? Jones needs to leave the football stuff to football guys before they realize any sustained success. Washington had the similar problem with Snyder but he seems to be learning to get out of his own way. The Maras in NY learned this years ago. #4xLombardi Oh, and Justin Pugh looks great in Blue! C'mon, it even rhymes!
  22. Agree but with one caveat. I like flash when it's sunny and windy. To refine that more, I like chrome/silver in clearer water and gold in murkier water.
  23. During the day I choose my colors mainly based on water clarity. Then I'll take the sun/clouds into consideration. In conditions of higher visibility I'll use natural colors usually in the bluegill or shad patterns for jigs. For crankbaits I use the same colors as well as baits in ghost patterns. In less clear water I'll use Jigs in darker colors with darker trailers but with the tail colored chartreuse. For cranking I'll reach for a chartreuse/black back or firetiger. At night and low light conditions I also like jigs and trailers in black, blues and purples or a combination of them. I like crankbaits to be loud and dark in these conditions.

Chapter 4 of Largemouth suggests that the majority of cones in a LMB's eyes are dedicated to detecting the red-orange-yellow portion of the color spectrum. If this is the case one might deduct that though this portion of the color spectrum disappears first, LMB compensate by being able to see these colors better. This may also help explain why a dash of orange or chartreuse sometimes makes a difference.
