  1. Well I'm glad St. Croix is now a site sponsor. I've been using their rods for a long time. Great people, great rods, and the best customer service. To the mods who got their hands on one early, I'm anxiously awaiting your reviews once you get some time with them.
  2. I had a few Original Max crank rods. They're fine. Nothing special about them. Don't be fooled by their website. Those rods aren't "on sale." The new Endurance line retails for $150 (see TW). They revamped their website early last year and added that "sale" price. They also jacked up the cost of their broken rod replacement fee. $90 for a broken $150 rod...no thanks. The first gen Diesel line retailed for like $69. That $189 original retail price tag is silly. Don't get me wrong, they-re decent rods, but that type of marketing turned me right off. They're no longer on my radar.
  3. I snagged a pair of Under Armour Shoreman bibs last year. They're constructed with gore-tex paclite. They are the lightest, coolest pair of rain bibs I've every worn. And they obviously keep you dry (gore-tex). I'm also in agreement with the Simms suggestion. Great gear. My old Pro Dry jacket is still holding strong after 6-7 seasons.
  4. I guess I don't understand how the neighbor is being inconsiderate by simply fishing in front of someone's house. Am I missing something? It was a long post, so I admit I mostly skimmed.
  5. Tough spot but I gotta say, he doesn't really sound like an inconsiderate neighbor to me. He's just fishing.
  6. Yeah they pretty much lost me after last years hike. I love all my Kistlers but I don't see myself dropping that kind of coin for something with no legit warranty.
  7. I have yet to see a guy look up from his graph...
  8. Once again, the only thing worth buying is the Trilene 100% fluoro bogo. C'mon Mr. Morris, do better next time.
  9. Don't think so. Not in the Pro Circuit.
  10. I'm pretty sure they're just out of a bunch of stuff. I used their warranty to get a Legend Glass and was told it won't be in stock until the end of March.
  11. This is one of the re-released ones so hopefully it won't break on me. It's the Braillist. I'll probably use it mostly for swim jigs. Come on spring!
  12. The new heliums are now $400. Yuck. I love my Kistlers but I can't stomach that price, even with the discounts Trey offers.
  13. Didn't plan to pair these two because I figured the maroon and black/green/purple wouldn't look right. I was wrong. Looks pretty slick!
  14. Like @Logan S said, it's all about the getting a good line on the spot the bass are holding. This is the hardest thing about deep cranking. You have to hit the exact spot they're sitting to trigger a strike. You can make 30 casts to the same spot, be "off" just a hair (I mean by inches), and never get a strike. Once you hit that exact line/angle, it's like magic. This is almost impossible to do when you don't have control of the boat, unfortunately.
  15. You'll be happy when you see it. I know it's just a souped up Curado K but dang, she looks nice! Gonna get the old man one and maybe another for myself.
  16. Just got my Scorpion this morning. Ordered wednesday last week! That's insanely fast!
  17. x2 on the Yamamoto. I've thrown other stick worms but not the original. I bought 2 packs on closeout like 3 years ago and they've never made it to the boat.
  18. I just replaced a broken Ark Sniper with a new Invoker Pro composite. Pretty cool looking rod and holy crap is it light! Like I can't believe how light it is. BUT, and this is a big but (for me anyway), the guides all appear to have been mounted a touch off center. I don't think it affect the performance of the rod but it sure is bothering me a bit. Aside from that, it feels great in hand. Plan to use it for squarebills but it could definitely work as a spinnerbait/chatterbait rod.
  19. Just got my shipping notification from them for my Scorp yesterday. I'm not worried. You should be fine too.
  20. Unfortunately, honest doesn't necessarily mean accurate. I have no doubt that when someone on here says they had a bad experience with a particular line, they were being honest. The problem is, there are too many other factors that could play into that "honest" review. Experience, skill, equipment, defects in the product itself, etc. For me, I need to take all those things into account before I could fully accept a product review or suggestion.

The power of editing. I've watched enough MLF shows to know that there is a ton of editing to make things more exciting than what likely happened during the day. Not saying it doesn't make for good TV, I just know things aren't always wire to wire like every episode makes you believe.
  22. I broke down and splurged on the Edge Terminal box (bought my dad one too), during the 25 days sale at TW. It's definitely nice...not worth $50 though. Got a few more odds and ends with that order: some Ima Bill Lowen squarebills, reels covers, treble hooks, dropshot weights, and an Ima Skimmer to try out. Also just picked up unnecessary stuff off Midway. It was all 45-50% off so I couldn't say no.
  23. No doubt. I'm just saying it's difficult to find solid reviews on product. While I think BR is definitely one of the best places, you still see exactly what the OP talks about, sometimes. Especially with line. I think I've seen several folks say Berkley Vanish is trash, while others have praised it (or at least said it works fine). Yo Zuri Hybrid as well. Another example would be opposing reviews/comments on Quantum reels. I ALWAYS try and hunt down as much info on products before I buy, especially since the vast majority of good stuff is never available for me to examine in person. I'm just always left pretty dissatisfied by what I see, that's all.
  24. I find it difficult to find good reviews on anything. Most people on youtube just read off the product details listed by the manufacturer. That's not helpful at all. With line in particular, I find it comical to see so many negative reviews on fluorocarbon, especially when so many of the reviewers clearly have no clue about the actual properties of it. I would wager that over 75% of product failures are due to user error not the quality of the product itself. I have found that it's just best to try things out for yourself.
