  11. 7'0" Med Action/fast tip rod, size 30 spinning reel with 20 lb braid for ?? i would set that up for flippin..its a good trend this time of year here in florida..if your draw partner decides to flip you will be ready. yes its possible to use a spinning reel for that.. just not prefered and its more work and its slower and time consuming.... you should get more of an idea off what you need after a few meetings ..,and a tourny or two.
  12. I have one of those excursion rods..not bad for 20$..I also got axiom caster reel for it ..not bad for 20$.. had it 2 years now and caught several L.M. w/ it. But the combo doesn't compare to my higher dollar combos, However I don't expect it to. Shakespeare is decent for their price, and helps get people involved in the sport.
  13. thanks for the tip barry- gartracker-I used the cheapest Walmart spray paint on these for a basic rattle trap repaint, nothing fancy about these..The black one is w/ a flat top coat. While the white has a gloss top coat.
  14. The only time I use braid really is with buzzbaits (frogs) mostly, and flippin. With no leader..I use it on a caster with no problems. I dont fish rocks though.
  15. For the stuff just around the matts ,I use a floating jerkbait ...it ticks the top off the hydrilla just subsurface. kinda rips it a tad.. i saw kvd do this .so i thought i would give it a try and learn how to do it. caught some nice fish from doing it although it is a lot of work.
