bass pro tourney special crankbaits
I have been buying these crankbaits for a while now and have caught a few fish on them. I mainly catch a lot of drum and sauger with them out of the Kentucky River. I am fishing a tournament this weekend and my boat is saying we will be fishing a lot of crankbaits. What my question is is what is the diving depth of these. I have several of every color made, and was hoping to fish them this weekend. So can someone tell me what the diving depth is on these things? Thanks...

Rapala Shad Rap
Ok...I am highjacking another thread with another stupid question... Here goes...I bought several of these when they were 20% off at Dicks. I don't know the numbers, but I know that most are suspending baits. I do have a couple of the glass raps that appear to be crankbaits. My question is this, I thought that the Shad Wrap was a jerkbait/slashbait? Can you use Shad Rap as a crankbait? What I mean is, can you use it with success by casting it out, reeling it in with a few jerks of the rod or speeding or slowering the retrieve? Thanks. I am fishing a tournament this weekend and my boater said that we would be throwing a lot of crankbaits and I was wondering if the Shad Rap would qualify. Thanks...and sorry for highjacking the thread...

Hook Size for 10" worms
Do you all prefer wide gap or extra wide gap, or just plain worm hooks?

Adjusting SLP-10
I agree about no reel is 100% backlash proof, but I have noticed that I get fewer backlashes with my Platinum Plus than any of my other reels, no matter what setting it is on. I think that it is because it was my first baitcaster. Just practice, you will get the hang of what you need to do to hinder backlashes.

Best lure(s) for this time of year...
I like a Texas Rigged lizard or a lizard on a Shakey Head jig.

Adjusting SLP-10
That is true about the "thumb smarter" deal. The only problem is that to do that it does take time. Learning to do that is not the easiest thing. That is why I suggested using the setting on ten. It is easier to set it on ten and then make a few cast and adjust it until you can cast without backlashing. Then, you can train your thumb in the backyard, and know how to do it when you are fishing. And yes, leave the knob on the right to where the lure falls slowly...Good luck...

Adjusting SLP-10
If it is on 0, it is on free spool, easiest way for it to backlash, with it on 10, it own't backlash as easy.
-
Adjusting SLP-10
If this is your first baitcaster, then start out on 10, then adjust it accordingly. I usually keep mine on ten unless I am fishing really light lures. Start on 10 and go down from there untill you have problems controlling the backlashes. Hope that helps....

Rod action for Spinnerbaits.
Good Answer..... Ok, I am going to get another rod then, that settles it...I'm telling my wife it is your fault!

Rod action for Spinnerbaits.
I use my crankbait rod for spinnerbaits too. It is a BPS Crankin Stick, Medium action...is this okay? I was thinking about buying a 7' medium ugly stick lite for spinnerbaits, but didn't know how that would work out... Sorry to hijack your thread...

Delaware Valley Tackle
I just got my two Pinnacle reels back from Delaware Valley Tackle last night. The reels were cheap, but I loved fishing with them, but to say that they were a bit rough was an understatement. Both made noise when I cast them and both made noise when I reeled them in. Both had problems with drag slipping...all in all, after years of abuse, they were starting to wear down. I sent them to Delaware Valley Tackle 9 days ago, and he emailed me with everything that was wrong and the cost. When they were finished, he shipped them to me immediately so I would have them for a tournament. Well, as for the reels...I put them on a couple rods, put some line on them, put a small casting sinker on the line and headed outside to see how he did on reviving them. They are awesome! They are smoother both casting and reeling then they were new. I can't say enough about DVT. They were a pleasure to deal with, very cheap, and does a very good job doing what they do. Thanks DVT, can't thank you enough, and I will be sending that Pflueger in a couple weeks.

Trigger X soft plastics
Has anyone tried their swimbaits with a paddle tail? It would be hard for that lure to suck too....

berkley amp
Its a good little rod. I have the 7' and use it for worms and even small crankbaits and spinnerbaits.

Pinnacle reels.....
I just wanted to say that I am thrilled that I found this forum. I have loved Pinnacle reels for a few years now. I bought my first Pinnacle because it was cheap, I also bought a Shakespeare that was also cheap. There was no comparison in the two reels. I took back the Shakespeare and bought another Pinnacle. Those were the first baitcasters that I ever owned. I sent the first two to Delaware Valley Tackle to have them overhauled and I am sure I will be pleased with them. Since I bought the first two, I have bought the Slyder, and LOVE it. It is smooth in the cast and in the reel. It handles braid very well, and the little wheel makes it great when fishing jigs or worms. I could not imagine ever going fishing without a Pinnacle with me. Just wanted to say thanks for great products, I have never had a problem with one of these reels, and am sure that I never will.

Lake Fork
I used the Lake Fork soft plastic swimbait today at a 110 acre private lake in Kentucky. I caught a 4 pounder on it...I love these things. Anyone else use these?
-
Pinnacle Alyssa XLT and Vision XLT
I have the Vision Slyder, I absolutely love it... I have 50 pound braid on it and it hold a 120 yard filler spool. I use it for a jig reel, for flipping and pitching. It is by far a much better reel than I would have expected for a $50 reel. It pitches great, and I can cast it very far when casting. Hope this helps...

Rapala Baitcast reels ??????????
I have been trying to find out where I can find one of these to buy, anybody know where I can pick one up???? I emailed rapala, got a response, but it was not helpful. I am thinking about trying one out... If anyone knows where I can find one, let me know. For the record, I will be blaming whoever can help me find one when my wife sees the credit card bill!!! ;D

Excel Monofilament
I am using it for the first time this year and am really glad that I bought it. I bout over 7000 yards of it a few weeks back, and it was worth the $10. I use it for everything. But, I do change line quite often, so I could not tell you about how long it lasts. I just know that I really like it, some of the best I have used.

Boyd Duckett Rods
It is a good looking rod, but for $160 I think that a man could buy a rod that is proven to be the cats a$$. Also, I am sure that the other rod manufacturer didn't say that they are a certain color for any reason...Just sounds stupid!!

Quantum Code Reels vs Daiwa Megaforce
I have never fished either one of these reels, but I have felt both of them many times and done a little research on the Megaforce. From what I learned, the Megaforce is not as good of a reel as Daiwa is putting on. I have heard several stories of people that have had Megaforce reels cost them a good fish. I have never done any research on the Code, but I have felt it in the stores and I have to say that it feels great. I am thinking about buying myself one in a few weeks to put on a worm rod... Hope this helps some, but I am sure since I have no first hand knowledge on these it won't help out too much...

Question regarding reel
Delaware Tackle will take care of you for sure...He took care of two of mine that I thought may be beyond help...they done it cheap, and did it in a rush to get it back to me in time for a tournament. Try him out, you won't be disappointed.
